Devil Fetus is getting a Blu-ray release in March from the amazing Vinegar Syndrome. Anyone interested should get this because VS always does a fantastic job at cleaning up these old treasures and making them look great. Plus it's bound to have lots of cool extras. It's going to come with a second film called Her Vengeance (1988)
Oh, boy! The "alchemmist" was a turkey but did a decent rental when my Grandad has a small rental section in his off licence 🇬🇧 The "Demons of ludlow" was really sold when it got its precert vhs release. The artwork really stood out and incorporated a severed hand with a stained glass church window.
@@Coastlinefx Everytime I watch an 80s project video I think "Maybe this episode I'll find out what that movie was w the guy that gets cut in half when the portal closes and then you see his guts convulsing". Finally it happened. It was The Alchemist. I've been waiting literally years for this question to be answered.
I definitely don't mind the videos with lesser-known movies. Part of why I like this series is finding movies I hadn't heard of before. It amazes me how much material got produced in the 80s.
Nightmares (1983) all the way for me and while 3 of the 4 stories are solid, it's the Bishop of Battle segment that is a CLASSIC among horror anthology fans and arcade lover fans of the 80's. The punk music soundtrack alone can be dissected in its own video. Also, little known fact, but the scene where Emilio Estevez is on the ground screaming, "LEAVE ME ALONE, GET AWAY FROM ME" as the Bishop is about to swallow him into the game, was a direct nod to his dad's (Martin Sheen) role in the original 1963 version of The Outer Limits. The episode was called "Nightmare" and Martin's character is on the ground scream "LEAVE ME ALONE, GET AWAY FROM ME" as the alien is approaching him.
Thank you for this end of year post; was an awesome surprise. I remember the movie Nightmares ; the video arcade part scared me as a kid. Love the channel and the 80's project. Happy and Healthy New Year to you and your family!
I low-key love love demons of Ludlow and the Game/The Cold. They were made with at least a personal love for the films. I seen them on those 50 horror film collection sets. And I love Michael Lerner tbh a very unreated horror icon tbh
Glad to know I'm not the only one who got "touched" by that weird as f scene in "Strange Invaders". Thank you so much, HBO for scarring my 10 year old brain! :)
Of this group the only two I recognize and have actually seen are Mortuary and Nightmares. I'd probably check out the others but I'm not for sure how well they would be.
STRANGE INVADERS was a lost memory as a kid, but as an adult I had no idea what it was but had to find the flik. Took FOREVER to find out and get it. As a kid me and my friends saw this randomly on cable and called it the alien chicken leg movie because when he’s peeling off his face, it kind of looked like raw chicken leg..
Ive almost done this.... but it can be rough... some of those direct to video or shot on video 80s films... you just end up watching them on fast forward. 😂😂😂😂
I guess the makers of Nightmares wanted to create something in the vein of The Twilight Zone (it's an interesting concidence that the Twilight Zone movie was released in the same year).
Christopher and Lynda Day George were married. So them being in a movie together isn't surprising. No, no, yellow carpet isn't evil, you're thinking of yellow *wallpaper* . Amateurs.
Loved Nightmares as a kid, true not as good as an adult. Loved the Bishop of Battle story. Been recently watching/rewatching Full Moon/ Empire movie and watched Alchemist for the first time. Pretty dry and uninteresting and predictable for the most part.
let' see the horror movies I watched in 83 i rate the following: DA BEST The Hunger, Twilight Zone the movie, Videodrome GOOD The Deadly Spawn, Eyes of Fire, The Keep. One Dark Night, Nightmares, Of Unknown Origin, Sole Survivor, Something wicked this way comes, Zeder AVERAGE Boogeyman 2, Christine, Cujo, Devonsville Terror, Psycho 2, Screamtime, BLEHHH: Jaws 3D, Amityville 3D, The Killing of Satan(comedy gold),

To this day I still get 'Mausoleum' and 'Mortuary' mixed up. If 'Phantasm' had come out in 1983 I'd probably wonder which of them that one was.
Best era ever. Keep it up with these vids, mate!
Mortuary is a Top 10 Slasher for me. I had the Vestron VHS when I was a kid in the 80's. Glad that people are coming around to it!
Mortuary has some great artwork for the box/poster. A shame the movie can't live up to it.
Fitting you call it a gift since it features John Amos, whose birthday would have been today.
Love these videos!! A belated Christmas present! 🎁
new episode! nice. I've watched all these 80s horror episodes so far. "I'm you number one fan!"

Pretty sure this is the first episode of The 80's Project where I haven't seen a single film.
Nice been waiting on this
Linda Day George! 😍 "Bastard! Baaastaarrrrrd!"

Devil Fetus was wild! I'm not sure I really liked it, but it was weird!!
The demons of Ludlow is a stone cold classic... Been one of my favs ever since I saw it way back when...
Would love for you to do a Tom Berenger double and do a timeline for The Substitute and Sniper.
There was a Josh Spiegel at a rock station back in Baltimore, Md XD
WOOHOO! Thanks, amigo!
Late xmas gift for me!
Emmanuelle in prison was clearly not Claudio Fragasso, not nearly enough smoke machines used for it to be him lmao
Glad to know I'm not the only one who got "touched" by that weird as f scene in "Strange Invaders". Thank you so much, HBO for scarring my 10 year old brain! :)
Dances With Dwarves. I know that's not what it's called, but I wish it was.
Devil Fetus looks like a blast
It will being coming to Blu-ray in March from Vinegar Syndrome
Wow, this may have been a weird block, but I learned about so many movies I NEED to watch!
I had so,many nightmares from Strange Invaders
Of this group the only two I recognize and have actually seen are Mortuary and Nightmares. I'd probably check out the others but I'm not for sure how well they would be.

Ive almost done this.... but it can be rough... some of those direct to video or shot on video 80s films... you just end up watching them on fast forward. 😂😂😂😂
Dance of the dwarfs is also known as jungle heat
the filmmakers really didn't know what alchemy is.
Well they didn’t turn that film to gold 😂✌🏻 happy new year from Dublin Ireland. May 2025 see you happy, healthy and successful ✌🏻🇮🇪

Josh, THE ALCHEMIST, NIGHTMARES, and STRANGE INVADERS.

Oh hey, Strange Invaders is on Pluto right now. Don't mind if I do.
Love Nightmares!!!
Do you remember where you watched Devil Fetus, or do you own it?
I found it on the internet archive.
Loved Nightmares as a kid, true not as good as an adult. Loved the Bishop of Battle story. Been recently watching/rewatching Full Moon/ Empire movie and watched Alchemist for the first time. Pretty dry and uninteresting and predictable for the most part.
Undercooked pork by Gus Trichinosis...
Love strange invaders
I've always thought that Moon unit Zappa sounded like an 80's video game.
Strange Invaders ❤
Background music too loud.
Just my two cents.
FRANK BLACK!
