Love, love, love Ultraviolet! The fragrance of my teenager years! A very metro-sexual, "new Millennium" fragrance which is beautifully in-tune with its time of release in 2001. However, I can see how it might divide opinion - I tend to go light on sprays. One thing you can't fault it for though is the name and bottle design. No point releasing a fragrance if the presentation of it is shite. Great review anyway, Aaron!

This used to be my go to night out scent from like 2009 to 2011 used to love it havnt smelt it since then if i smelt it now itd probably bring back so many good memories

i still have about 20ml from a 2008 bottle, still super strong and wonderful performance, i absolutely love it, and the same with Black XS

@@AaronTerenceHughes i don't wear it now, doesn't fit my age, but back then it was very popular. I always keep a little bit in every bottle just for comparison. It seems that today perfumes got way weaker ...
@@63Jax Im not sure whats happened. Maybe its things have become so profit driven or things so safe. Or just people want a similar DNA and are frightened to be different. Or just a combination of all three

@enigmaticstatic 7 I wanted something for the summer, so I ordered Neon and Ozone. Aaron told me that Blood Orange may be a good fit, but its a bit too pricy for me at the moment.

The women's is probably way better because I have the vintage of it and it is a treasure in terms of having a violent dominant perfume
Fun fact. When this first came out it wasn't Vanilla heavy at all. In fact it reminded me of Prada Amber. They just haven't taken care of their reformulations.
Hey Aaron and RUclips comment section, in your own opinion(s) what is the freshest scent out there regardless of price. Looking for something I could wear everyday and just smell clean and fresh. Nothing to sweet or musky, just plain clean , fresh and citrusy.

Ironically, the female counterpart of Ultraviolet is my favorite violets fragrance of all time. I absolutely love it!

Is there a reason you move your fingers when smelling your wrist? Does it stimulate the fragrance or something like that?
The only reason I could think of is that it gets the blood flowing there which in turn generates heat that releases the smell
I used to use this for clubbing. And it did get me a few compliments. Even though after a while i got sick of it.
I wore this as a youth and you've described it perfectly, sounds like it hasn't changed one bit, loved summat about it to start with in the opening n then a wretched heaving gloop of puke...keep up the good work Aaron

Ultraviolet used to be better, the fragrance now is more obviously synthetic. It is still pleasant though.
Don’t you think that a price of a material, cheap material for instance shouldn’t really indicate much? same goes for if a material is natural or synthetic. Would love to hear your thoughts on this!
Speaking of violet, I ordered Violet delirium for my sister for her birthday. And speaking of saving up. Anyone saving to buy one of those hi end house like Creed Marley Ford and the like. Buy a 50 ml bottle of ATH instead. This man of spectacular talent and who is generous of his time, deserves to be the hi end fragrance on your shelf.
Naboo Licious that’s very kind of you:). There are some people obsessed with violet delirium. They say it’s addictive. Once people find there signature fragrance in my work then they don’t go else where. They get two-three bottles of the same one. Some magical unicorns have the whole range and set there alarms! All of this is quite magical and perplexing
Tobacco Oud and Vanilla is my obsession. Wow! I order Cedarwood and Bergemot blind because, why not. And if my sister doesn't like Violet Delirium. More for me! I'll get her some Paco Rabane crap!

Ultraviolet man was a lot more expensive back when it came out. I have an old bottle and it smells amazing. Depends on the person wearing it end of the day

A question a little out of context: Any suggestions what to layer Aaron-Terence-Hughes “Oud”(the old formula) with?! Was thinking with “Rose” or “Onyx”?! Any suggestions?

Brad Moody if you like citrus blood orange, neon or ozone. Ozone is sweet and citrus. Like an intoxicating drink. Blood orange is orange, tangerine and mandarin. Neon is screaming ambroxan monster. The ouds are we’re I feel
Most happy. They are addictive and very sexy. I prefer ouds all year round. They fill a room. Expansive and deeply sensual

Hi Aaron, I like and respect your honest opinion on fragrances. As you know, many of us do not have the funds like others, and wish we could purchase many of those niche fragrances to have us smelling marvelous and expensive. Since we can't do that, can you please help us out by doing a video of the 5 or 10 best cheap cologne that smell like niche quality in your opinion? I'm talking about under $40. Thanks.

Hello Aaron,nice review as always,i noticed that you mentioned about aroma chemicals for some perfumes. Well i have a question about that,here in Greece the last 5 years i can say we have some “perfume stores” that they copy perfumes and back in the day was only tries for Dior,Channel but nowdays you can find also from niche brands clone perfumes....Is it safe to put it in your skin without any clue of oils and aroma chemicals they use? Thank you in advance!
Good question. If they dont have the box with the allergens and the contact details (Responsible person) then leave alone. Always ask if they have been safety assessed by an EU safety assessor. A lot of companies dont safety assess and just hope they dont get court. If you sell fragrance without the safety documents your be fined and receive a sentence. Aroma chemicals and more importantly essential oils can be very toxic. Thats why my chemistry degree was so important to all of this. Hope that helps you.
Aaron Terence Hughes Yes thank you for the quick response. I don’t think that they have any of these statements and papers that you mentioned, in any case because i always had to my mind about the risk factor i avoid to buy “these fragrances” and when i was buying them back in the day i was applying the “fragrance” only in clothes.
@@jakepap3675 Clothes is fine. But always email and ask the company do you have the regloratory paperwork. Safety assessments. PIP/PIF and EU cosmetics portal notification . You cant get insurance with out these. .
Aaron Terence Hughes I hate the thing that i will say but is the reality. Here in Greece if you have the right connections you can do everything, sad but true...so the best thing to do is to stay away from these “perfume shops”. Thanks again Aaron for your knowledge. I would like to ask you something else also,as i’m aging and becoming (wiser) i wish... i start to like old classics fragrances like TF Beau de Jour and Egoiste by Chanel that i really love,which perfume i shall choose from your collection that will have a similar vibe..?

I just wanted to share with you that Onyx has totally blown my head off my shoulders. I have come across a few highly regarded oud & rose fragrances and Onyx has outclassed them all. Just curious what magic you worked with that Thai oud to avoid that typical fecal opening that many ouds posses? Or is Thai oud simply that gorgeous from start to finish?
Its the way I deal with it. The compounds I put with it to transform it into a bad ass fragrance. Oud is the one raw material I feel very confident handling. I know how to work it to make it magical. Citrus I struggle with. But dark orientals I love very much. Thanks for the lovely feedback. xx

I blind buyed this one and it's a regrettable purchase. The opening has a very strange smell that reminds me of cookies. Gets better in the drydown but I hardly ever reach for this one.
I really like it. Don't know if it's been reformulated and changed, but I picked up 100ml for around 17 pounds about 4 years ago. I prefer more expensive niche perfume, but this is one of my favourite cheapies. Hate the bottle though. Scent is subjective as we know, and we all can't like the same things or life would be insanely boring. Keep up the good work!

I really hate vanilin, it's one of the few synthetic aroma chemicals that make me nauseous. I like and I can handle most of them, but this one smells like plasticky vanilla scented rubber cupcakes or something. I can actually taste it. Just horrible.
I love maltol though, if you can imagine.
Ethyl Vanillin needs to be handled correctly and its actually amazing. But in this concentration combined with mint its not good at all.

Yes. Its not the best is it. I was expecting someone amazing with the marketing behind it.
I used to wear it in 2005 and I was getting excruciating headaches. I stopped wearing it to figure out if there was something wrong with me, and lo and behold the headaches went away. Then just to prove to myself absolutely it was this, I sprayed some on and there she came, smashing my head in.
After these reviews İ dont't like girls who like perfumes that you dont like and stop following some sort of fragrance youtubers, who has no any bloody idea about quality.

To me Ultraviolet, 1Million, XS Black smell like toxic sweet sludge and I am by no means a snobe, I use ONLY designer stuff and try to buy it as cheap as I can, but most stuff from Paco Rabanne is a big no from me. The original XS was nice, other than that I really don't care. Armani makes waaaaay better stuff, for example.

Having the vintage and the new version this is a purple floral perfume. A better Bond No. 9 Bleecker Street. Just get the genuine one and review it again.
