Nah, it's how he gets those highs. He'll confirm this story: when he was tracking devoured by vermin, one of his first tracks with the band, he was having trouble getting that intro scream. He was like, fuck im blowing my big shot here, better pull out the big guns: a handful of fat 3x2 blocks, a good stomp on them gave us the opening scream we hear on the album.

corpsegrinder is both one of the most intimidating frontmen in death metal.... and also, strangely the nerdiest.... and most likeable. seriously, how could you not like this guy?
i only partially disagree, to me personally, chuck shuldiner is the most likable, although corpsegrinder is still really likable and an amazing person.

I saw him play in Vancouver and I was front row and dying from dehydration and couldn't even head bang anymore. He had three bottles off water infront of his monitor and all I did was point at one and he hopped off the stage in the middle of the song and gave me 2 of his 3 bottles of water. Such a bro move.

That’s because vocals ultimately boil down to playing a character. When someone is throwing objects on stage or is hurting somebody in the crowd, the act goes away for safety purposes. The best way to solve problems for real is with a level head.
@@MoltenMetal613 Actually, some vocalists are genuinely pissed off, especially in Hardcore Metal where punches have been thrown (and the show continued)... especially in the 1990s and 2000s when Metal was more extreme... Even Marilyn Manson sodomized a fan up on stage and indirectly made it part of the show.
Corpsegrinder looks like he wants to rip my head off. But at the end of the day, he's a real softie.

I’ve hung out with Corpsegrinder after a show and I was truly intimidated at first. Completely Starstruck! But man, he straight up made me feel like We’ve been friends for a long time. He was joking around with us and playing little pranks on his crew. He is one of the nicest humans I’ve ever met! I truly respect this man.

Is it just me, or are death metal band members some of the nicest guys out there?
sweetest people ive ever known. i live in florida and you can see them in their normal day to day life quite frequently and everytime from deicide, cannibal corpse, morbid angel and others ive met in passing are very patient and fun to talk to. they really are just a bunch of geeky kids that never stopped being imaginative kids with passion for the macabre.

Met Corpsegrinder once before a CC gig they were doing at a popular tiny dive in St. Louis called The Galaxy. He was by himself playing pacman in the games room. A couple of friends and I just walked up and said hello, and he totally turned and smiled and said hi, basically quitting his pacman game to shoot the shit with us. One of the most humble and friendly performers around, I'd say. The rest of the band was very cool too, after the show, they all hung out on stage with the band they were touring with, Angel Corpse (who were badass btw) and let all the stragglers come up on stage for autographs and pictures. All of them were awesome.
Edit- now that I think about it, that all happened almost 20 years ago... Maybe he's changed, but I imagine he's still cool to people... As long as they don't piss him off...
I feel George on a almost spiritual level tbh, i just love his mixture between pissed off, and just the nicest guy ever, simply this, is the epitome of metal itself.

Literally walked right past George last November just before a show in London, Ontario. I was too nervous to say anything, which is stupid because by all accounts he's one of the nicest guys you could meet. Huge regret on my part.
