Dmoser22 - over on board game geek took the time to break down my gameplay, provide some rules updates, and strategy suggestions overall! I wanted to thank him and highlight the comments he made!
    <
At 24:33: That's why you shouldn't use your Copy prematurely. You didn't need the extra +2 lives earlier in that fight. If you had saved your Copy card, you could've copied the Destroy to get rid of the 2nd Aging card. If no other Aging card had shown up, you can always copy the +2 Life at the end. In general, there's no harm in taking extra lives as soon as +Life cards show up, but with most other abilities you're better off waiting to use them as long as possible to get the most value from them.
I really suggest you follow the rulebook directions and keep freely drawn cards on the left, and put cards purchased with life points or gained by abilities on the right. (This is mostly important when playing the card that lets you place one card under the deck; free cards removed this way can be replaced for free, but cards on the right cannot.) Also, tap cards when you use their abilities so that you don't lose track of which ones you've used. The method you're using is OK but doesn't really help you with the cards that are not yet covered by other cards, so it can get very confusing.
At 33:57: You don't have to pay the life just because you drew that Aging card. Their abilities only apply when you end the fight (except for the Stop card, of course.) You destroyed the card a moment later, so that -1 Life had no effect.
At 38:20: Destroying your Eating card is not a good idea, but that's just my opinion. =)
At 44:53: Sorry - you can't use a Strategy card to exchange itself.
At 49:46: Dude?! You had the game won. Put those three cards back and draw them in this order:
Pay your last life and get the +1 card and 3pts (You're up to 35)
Use that ability to draw the 2x Exchange. (You're up to 37)
Swap out two 0-value cards. The first one you get will be the Double card, which you can use on your 4, and you're at 43 points.
    Still - nice video!

I am glad you enjoy them :) - I know they get less viewership than my shorter reviews / but I still enjoy this style of video myself.

You actually played very well (for a youtuber)! Most other RUclipsrs I’ve seen play Friday make me honestly wonder if they've ever won a game of Dominion in their life. How can they play so many games and be so terrible at deck building?
In any case here are some tips from the parts I watched (I skipped around toward the end). (BTW, I’m not awesome, but I lose maybe 1 in 20 games nowadays at the level you are playing though.):
On your first pass you should go for thinning your deck over adding cards. This mean:
    1) Avoid going to the raft to get the +2 cards or copy. The best time to go for those is in the first stage of the yellow pass. Rafts tend to put a lot of 0's in your hand.
    2) Stop drawing as soon as you have enough points to explore in order to avoid putting that extra 0 in your deck.
    3) Prefer the Exploring Further cards even if you can;t win them because it is statistically the ideal (there are about twice as many 0 as there are -1s (5)) so that is the most life (and draw) efficient way to prune your deck.
    4) Know that you have three 1’s and 1 2 so you know what’s left. You had seen all of them at that point so there was no point spending a life to draw, you could have just destroyed a zero and moved on instead of collected so many 0’s into your hand.
    5) When completing the pass, make a note of your entire deck, especially keep track of how many 0’s you have since you need to count them Count how many cards have synergy with the +2 life (copy, bottom), country how many destroys. You now need to track whether any of these cards have appeared as well as the aging card. (My favorite chain is to +2 life, copy (eating), copy (eating), below (+2 life) for a later run.= +8 life for 4 draws.)
On second and third passes (rest of green level) you have to strengthen your deck, your priority should be getting 1-2 destroys into your hand, pruning all the 0’s (all the -1’s should already be gone by the first pass above):
    1) you can “fix” the mistake with the aging card by adding one 0 to your discard pile.
    2) the 0 destroy is worth more to you than the +1 life (the only card worse is the 2 exchange btw) because you still have too many 0s.
    3) the phase -1 is a bad card if you are trying to high score (which even though you feel otherwise you should be shooting for at that point) because you will need to destroy it before the pirate phase, about half the time it does nothing for me (because i have enough points without it). The only real dangerous time of getting eliminated is around the beginning of phase yellow (which, btw is the best/only time to pick up phase -1). The time you picked it up (end of green) was good though so I might have done the same as you.
For the first half of yellow phase you should just make sure you make it through with enough life.
    1) I’d avoid the 0+1 life cards unless I have less than 5 life points. Those things are next to useless in the deck since at best they just extend your run by one. Remember in the red phase you need about 2.5 points per card. You are not allows to exchange the exchange card if it is active. only after it has been tapped.
    2) Save the 2 cannibals and at least one wild animals for the red stage (you can build long chains and easily accumulate life). The biggest mistake here was not grabbing the repeats at this level because you'll need them to synergise with the weapon 4 (from cannibals) on the pirate level (which is how you lost).
    3) You cannot use the exchangex2 to exchange itself. Instead you should have just ended that level 2 life short and destroyed those 0's. Realistically you shouldn't have had any 0's in your deck before the start of yellow, but this would have been a good time to destroy them cheap.
Second half of yellow you should be accumulating life:
(I stopped watching because you already had enough life/cards to make it to the pirate stage here).
Red phase. Get all the high value cards (cannibals, wild animals, any repeats). Look for an opportunity to destroy the step-1 and any 1's if you have overkill. Accumulate a ton of life. Never destroy the eating +2 card. Ever! Easily the most valuable card in the game (you can copy, you can below it and repeat it, it is guaranteed life vs a +2 draw, etc).
Pirate phase. Do the toughest one first. If you do your deck right the one you did was the right one. Since your deck was wrong (too many 0's) you want to do it in reverse order.
    Hope that helps!

Hey! Thank you so much for watching and the thoughtful comment - I’ll have to sit down and go through the game again to fully follow the advice your giving - I was a little blind on my deck and newer to the game so I didn’t know the value count (1s, 0s, etc) - your advice is really good though - I realized at the end game I had been a little to risky with my hand / exploration and I could have tightened things up a lot more. I also had some comments about the last few moves of the game - I could have played that better and possibly won. Either way - I enjoyed the game and have really enjoyed all the feedback / strategy discussion around it. I’m getting better and better at solo :) Aerion is coming out next week!

@@Quackalope I actually think you might have won the game! I didn't compute the last count but you had one life and if there was a chain card (+1 draw or +1 life or a copy or a below) you can keep continuing. Like I said, you did very well!
If you get really good the lower levels become more about racking up VP. I like to target >100 if I play fast and >130 if I play slow. I've seen people score >170. The mobile app really helps. I highly recommend it for on-the-go, you'll get very good and be a monster at any deck-building game after practicing it a bunch. ;-) Plus, I might get to see you on the high score list :-D

Just stumbled across your channel and love the content. I was unsure about whether to get this game but you explained it in such an easy way to understand and the playthrough was a nice chill experience so I’ve gone and bought it. Keep up the great work👍🏼

This was a wonderful playthrough. You were very close though. I can see why the reviews and ratings for this game were mixed. It is because of its challenge

Nice video , btw you win the game because you lose only if your life get below 0 so you can spend that last point of life to get the +1 exchange to discard one 0 card and get the 3points +1 card and finally get the 2 points double getting more than 40 points.
Dont give up and good luck!

As a solo player I will be watching your videos.
Love games and have hundteds....obviously not all are solo playable. However, I do sometimes play as a two or more player mode eg: Andor. But to be honest, I love solo gaming.
Any chance of Isle of Cats as I bought it yesterday along with It's a Wonderful World and many more !
Anyway, thank you and kind regards from the UK.

Thanks for this playthrough. I'm actually quite confused with this little game and was hoping you could help.
This is not a question per se, but your Robinson board and your Aging board are swapped, however, the cards you had on them were in the correct location. It just threw me for a second when you starting shuffling the Robinson deck and why questioning my set up. :)
1.) When you draw cards from the Robinson storage board to fight against the hazard, I noticed you put the fighting card to the right of the hazard card, however, the rules are specific about putting these cards on the left. Only once you start sacrificing additional life points do you place them on the right. Is there a reason why you do this differently?
2). I'm really confused about how you completely eliminated hazard cards when you lost a fight. The rules state "You must place the undefeated hazard card on the hazard discard pile and the remaining face-up fighting cards back on the Robinson discard pile." And this language is further confusing because it says to place them 'back' on the discard pile but they did not come from the discard pile, they came from the draw pile.
3). The rules have language that seems to indicated there are different stages of "the fight". I thought that the action drawing the allotted number of cards to beat the number you need to beat was the fight. What is the beginning, during, and end of the fight sequence?
As I said, I'm quite confused by this little game but I really want to learn how to play. It seems like a great little game. Would you consider a rematch, perhaps to clean up some of the rule hiccups and offer a bit more explanation on the cards and the game mechanics? Thanks for your help.

Unlike your other videos I have watched, this one appears blurry for me, almost like my connection is bad. However, I've tried some other RUclips videos, and they all are crystal clear. I can't really watch this one because I can't read the cards. Maybe check it for yourself just in case it's not on my end? I'd hate to see your normal video quality ruined on this one because of a bad upload or something.

Hey Edward - so I might have shared this video out a little early - since it is a longer video RUclips is taking a bit to fully process it - it will be 4k like all of my others :) / thank you for letting me know the problem you had - check back latter if you can and it should be fixed!
