Wow! What a teacher! Just bought this game and you helped me out so much! Thank you so much! Will be looking at your other videos for now on. Thanks again!
I pulled this game out tonight after watching your play-through. I attempted to learn it previously but it didn't click back. I had a great time playing it this time around! Thanks for helping me dust this game off the shelf. I'm looking forward to play this game more. THUMBS UP!
Glad you pulled it out again. I find this is one of those games I forget about for a while and then go on a game playing binge until I beat those dratted pirates once and for all. Hope you did better than me!
I’ve just come across this play-through, which is really helpful - especially the thinking aloud. I bought it partly on the basis of this, I’ve played it twice, and I’ve got about as far into the yellow phase. It’s tough, but god fun. Thanks for the video!
I got this game 2 days ago (on a Friday) I played it once before watching your video to get some of the rules explained. Thank you for making this video and for a good explanation of the game.
I just subscribed. Your channel is fantastic. I’ve learnt so much. Keep up the great work you’ve made me enjoy boardgames again from when I was a kid. I have that nostalgic moment again. Thankyou
So far this is a really well done. I've watched two other videos and couldnt pick up the flow of this game. I'm about halfway through and I'll add more once it clicks! Thanks for your hard work
Thanks for this run through. Great job explaining the game. I watched this a year ago but rewatched it today. And even though I've now played the game a lot, I just now learned something: You should try to avoid reshuffling your deck in the middle of a big fight, because then your draw deck will be unusually small and you will age quickly (i.e., have to add another aging card). This happened in your run through with the fight for the "Exploring the Island/Weapon" card that begins around time 38:27 and the shuffle happens at 41:57 with 6 of your cards out on the table.
Really liked your play through. Nice to hear you offer tips and suggestions as well as the different lay out option. You've played this often and it shows in the way you've demonstrated it. Cheers!
Nice explanation! Wandered here from Rahdo, really enjoying the transition to single- and 2-player games as my wife and I refine our game collection (having a little cub has cut into game nights with the crew lol). I will look for your stuff, very helpful.
The "below the pile" ability allows you to exchange the card you put on the bottom of the Robinson deck with a new one from the top. I picked up some great tips from this video. Thank you!
Agreed! Rule book can be quite confusing with the life points explanation. This is my first solo game after I've stopped going to open gaming groups (in short, personality type conflicts) Well done, sub'd.
Good video, congrats! I have doubts about the 1 below the deck, could you explain me better? whats happens if I draw it on the left side (free card) and what would happen if I draw on the right side?
Actually, you're playing as Friday, helping Robinson Crusoe who was stranded on the island. Obviously has no bearing on the game, but as someone who read Robinson Crusoe in school, it does bug me :) Great video, though!
As someone who just re-read the book, this whole premise is strange. Friday was merely a helpful student. Robinson was on the island twenty plus years without him. To be more mechanically accurate we should be playing as Robinson, and then accrue Fridays help in the 2nd or 3rd phase, increasing our fight or something similar.
Hi Solo. Great video! I have one question at the 36:30 mark you lost a fight and had to pay 4 life tokens you then said you could only discard two for three cards. Why is that?
Could someone explain the * Pirate card where it says +2 Hazard points for each aging card? Does this mean if I draw nothing but non-aging cards that are all zeroes, do I defeat the pirate?
That was such a great tutorial, well done. I’m new to board games so I’m looking into solo ones. I just subscribed to your Chanel. Any recommendations for solo board games?
Why is the -3 Aging card not played with a beginner game because its too difficult, but the -4 and -5 aging card are played, and put at bottom of pile?
Love the game. 4 Playthroughs and no win... on evel 1. I suck. Also bought the Android version for couch gaming. 2 Playthroughs and no win. I really suck. But I keep going!
Excellent walkthrough. I bought the game! Thanks! BTW on boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/43570/friday there's a fellow whose looking into make an tablet fan version using CardWarden.
Wow! What a teacher!
Just bought this game and you helped me out so much!
Thank you so much!
Will be looking at your other videos for now on. Thanks again!
Glad it helped!
I think the player (you) is Friday, the guy in the deck is Robinson Crusoe. You are helping him survive by "building" him up.
Bingo!
I played my first game tonight after watching your video yesterday. Thanks ! That was a great tutorial and playthrough. Much appreciated !
So glad it helped! It's a game that still challenges me all these years later.

This is the best how to play Friday tutorial out of the ones I've watched👍Thanks

I’m still having difficulty understanding the game, but this is the best Friday play through I’ve watched so far.
This is the best explanation of this game on RUclips. In my humble opinion :) thank you
Board Games are MAH LIFE, Thx for supporting us board gamers!
I got this game 2 days ago (on a Friday) I played it once before watching your video to get some of the rules explained. Thank you for making this video and for a good explanation of the game.
I like the pace of your explanation. very clear. appreciate it.
You set it up different to how I've been doing it, putting the traffic light cards like that makes so much more sense! Great video :)
Aynsley Judson I was always forgetting which level I was at. It was a simple tweek but man did it help! Glad you enjoyed it.
I just subscribed. Your channel is fantastic. I’ve learnt so much. Keep up the great work you’ve made me enjoy boardgames again from when I was a kid. I have that nostalgic moment again. Thankyou
Please do a review and play through of Palm Island.
Thanks have a nice day.
So far this is a really well done. I've watched two other videos and couldnt pick up the flow of this game. I'm about halfway through and I'll add more once it clicks! Thanks for your hard work
Best playthrough of this game. Thank you!
finally started to play this game today after watching this video. thank you for another great video
Brilliant tuition.
Really enjoyed the demo.
More solo playing games,please.
Thank you from the UK.
I really enjoy your playthroughs!!! You are an excellent teacher! Please keep doing more videos!!!
Thanks so much, another little game I didn't know of, but on my wanted list now.
You're a great teacher.
Very very very good presentation! Thanks so much for this!
Thanks for this run through. Great job explaining the game. I watched this a year ago but rewatched it today. Great video. Thank you for the walk through! Can't wait to play.
The concise rulebook is horrible, and you are my saving grace! Friedeman should be sent to that Island a few weeks for this rulebook only.
I have the rule book and the only thing it wasn't clear about was the pirate fight. Otherwise it was an easy read.
Really liked your play through. Nice to hear you offer tips and suggestions as well as the different lay out option. You've played this often and it shows in the way you've demonstrated it. Cheers!
So glad you are back. I love your run throughs and your relaxed approach to the whole thing.
I really loved your explanation of the game play-through. Thank you! :-)
Instructions not totally clear. Now I get it. Great video.
Great video. I just got this. Can't wait to play. Thank you!
That was a great video. Thank you for the excellent explanation.

That is, if the card comes from the left side of the hazard card.
Just discovered your gaming vids ... which are some of the best for highlighting and explaining games. Please do more. Liked and subscribed!
Brilliant demonstration. You made the game easy to understand.
Thank you.
Thank you - I have played this game and it's not easy to win!
Thanks. Got this as a Secret Santa gift form my gaming group and I wasn't a fan of the rule book. I think you explained it a lot better.
***** Thanks! It's a fun (but challenging) little game. Enjoy!
Agreed! Rule book can be quite confusing with the life points explanation. This is my first solo game after I've stopped going to open gaming groups (in short, personality type conflicts) Well done, sub'd.
the rulebook does not take you by the hand.
and people have different learning styles... not all of us are Te/Ti people. you sound like a player i'd encounter at an open game night.
Were you a teacher of some capacity? You explain these games very well, probably the best out of all the videos I've seen on RUclips
instablaster
@@riveralec8838 what? 🤣🤣🤏
Thanks for the playthrough. Been looking to get this game and I think you've just convinced me!
+MadLadDesigns Took a while but I've finally got this. :)
Excellent. Great explanation, thank you.
Really great overview, thank you!
My pleasure!
I did enjoy it and will purchase it at some point...I am a solo player tks
Oh yes, thanks for the review. Getting it today.
I have been playing Friday for a month and haven't won a single game yet! It's soooo frustrating, but also so good!
Awesome Walkthrough! Well Done! Sub'ed
I always thought the Life Points were shaped like bugs 🐛 😅
Thanks so much. Very helpful! Cheers.
The life counters are Bananas
Good video, congrats! I have doubts about the 1 below the deck, could you explain me better? whats happens if I draw it on the left side (free card) and what would happen if I draw on the right side?
Thank you for a real walkthrough without all of the bells and whistles of internet douchebaggery.
Actually, you're playing as Friday, helping Robinson Crusoe who was stranded on the island.
Obviously has no bearing on the game, but as someone who read Robinson Crusoe in school, it does bug me :) Great video, though!
I was going to say that too. It was making me crazy that she kept calling Robinson, Friday.
Brandon Johnson vfff
As someone who just re-read the book, this whole premise is strange. Friday was merely a helpful student. Robinson was on the island twenty plus years without him. Hi Solo. Great video! I have one question at the 36:30 mark you lost a fight and had to pay 4 life tokens you then said you could only discard two for three cards. Why is that?
so you also lost. like I did. the game is far harder than I thought.
your shuffling skills are so amazing!
Could someone explain the * Pirate card where it says +2 Hazard points for each aging card? Does this mean if I draw nothing but non-aging cards that are all zeroes, do I defeat the pirate?

what Bart Verstegen said! THANK YOU!!!
at 38 min did you get rid of the destroy 1 card or keep it? do you have to get rid of all you pay for or can you keep some and get rid of the others?
I can't get up to the Pirates 😢
I've played at least ten times and I've gotten to fight the pirates once. It's a hard game.
I legit watched all !!!
Very helpful!
BTW: Forgot to say that I received the game today and start to play tomorrow.
All the Best.
Since when was 50 minutes quick🤔
Can someone please explain how fighting the pirates occurs? I've made it that far and am confused.
It's the same. You use your deck but pay attention to special rules on the pirate cards.
I thought I saw a video for Splendor from you when it was published along with Concept, but I can't find it anymore on your channel. Is it available?
I did have one up but I was mis-playing one of the rules so I have fix it. Hopefully, I'll have time to do that soon!
thank you! helped a lot.
WooW WooW GOOD VIDEO ;)
Why is the -3 Aging card not played with a beginner game because its too difficult, but the -4 and -5 aging card are played, and put at bottom of pile?
Because that was not the aging card, it was one the fighting cards. Like the - 2 and - 1s. So it would have been in your deck from the start.
Can you spend food and burn a card immediately, or do you have to lose a fight first?
You must lose the fight
I've yet to win this game. :\
Thanks for teaching this game. The rule book is not the best.
I don't get the hate for the rule book. I had no issues with it.
Where Can I buy this that is not 80 dollars..?
+olya zhuk I just bought my copy on Amazon a few days ago. Rio Grande JUST did a repressing!!
+Cody Budd how much did you get it for??
+olya zhuk I have an extra copy if anyone would like it
+Cathy Zampogna how much would you sell me it for??
+olya zhuk I paid $31 plus shipping. I'll sell it for the same.
I found one mistake you made. Copy doesn't copy the fight points on a card. It only copies the Special Abilities.
Love the game. 4 Playthroughs and no win... on evel 1. I suck. Also bought the Android version for couch gaming. 2 Playthroughs and no win. I really suck. But I keep going!
Why do you turn your cards all the way around or upside down when you use the ability? You're supposed to just tilt them.
stevefett1 she just did that for the video so she could fit everything in the shot more easily.
Lorna Kelso That makes sense. Thanks. :)
"Still available" where?
You can find it on amazon for around $16
Has anyone on here actually beat this game?
First try I lost, next two plays I won :)
I think the key is taking harder fights early on so you can get rid of the bad cards much quicker.
I also think that you must be a teacher (says another teacher)
Yo
great nails
This can't possibly take 50 minutes to teach. I suspect one could read the rulebook in less time.
The rule book sucks. Must be a translation thing from German to English.
Excellent walkthrough. I bought the game! Thanks!
BTW on boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/43570/friday there's a fellow whose looking into make an tablet fan version using CardWarden.
Oh thanks for the tip. Will keep my eyes on that project! Good luck with the game!
a 50 minute "quick run through"?
