I work nine to five in a stressful office and your videos have helped me a lot with calming my nerves and regaining focus. I usually play them with earphones plugged in after lunch. Your voice is very relaxing and it's always fun to switch my gaze to see how the painting you're describing unfolds :)
Hi Stuart, just to let you know that I've watched this video and part 1 in their entireties. Yep, I wouldn't argue with your description of the sound quality in part 1, however, let's not confuse that with what was said. It was worth the effort to listen carefully - full of pearls - thank you once again
Now I have also watched the second part of the previous video. Very beautiful! Absolutely fantastic work! I'm actually in love with the technique how you make the trees. This is super awesome!!! Many heartfelt thanks, my favorite artist and teacher!!!
Stuart I am so glad you are doing better. As for having to long a video, I have always been told that the longer you focus on what you are learning time means nothing it is the dedication you have to achieve perfection. Personally I love the long video's because it is so much easier to down something in your mind.
Watched Part 1. Waited breathlessly for Part 2. A Masterpiece and these are some of your most informative videos! I'm excited and feeling confident to give this composition a try.
This was great to see how to get that misty look, we have a fog on occasion here amongst the woods and cypress trees. It will be quite prevalent in the fall. And cameras do not pick it up as accurately as our eyes.
Sound on this one was crystal clear. 44:47 😄, sounds like my real voice, lol. Loved the misty look & the pale green highlights. The ZOOM classes are wonderful by the way, for anyone interested in improving their landscape painting skills.
Thank you so much for your videos. I have taken my paints and 'stuff' out of storage and have began again to paint. You have given me the courage to just be myself. I would like to know more about what makes up a "good" composition; I cannot seem to wrap my brain around the concept. Thank you again for showing us your method. (Enjoying Saxon as well.)
Thank you. As always I enjoyed it. I learn things from all of your videos. Those are painting knives. I don't know why most artists call the painting knife a palette knife. The palette knife actually looks like a long buttering knife, and is used for mixing the paint on the palette. The painting knife is used to take the the paint off the palette and paint it on your canvas.
Dear Stuart, I don’t know if you know that any electrical power sources near your microphone will interfere with the microphone causing static noises, if that was what you heard in your last tutorial. My husband Terry has a recording studio and I paint. Love watching you painting, while I take time out from painting. Many Blessings, Annie Queensland Australia.
Aha! So it wasn’t my iPad after all. I’m glad you discovered the audio problem, Stuart. As always, this video was inspiring and soothing in equal measure. I may yet buy a couple of small canvas boards, a few “starter colors,” and take a crack at a tonalist landscape. You do indeed make it look easy, fun, and highly gratifying. Of course, only an experienced artist and gifted teacher can do so. And now that the audio is fixed on the previous video, I’m going to watch it again!
It's amazing paint! I really enjoyed it. I have a question - is it possible to apply on a canvas white acrylic coat or gel medium instead of gesso? How it will work?
I love the perspective on this painting. could you tell me/us about gesso? I was taught that i could use 3 layers of ordinary wall paint, sanded in-between. As you have altered my way of painting I am getting through more canvasses than before, and so I am looking for ways to economise!
In your last tutorial, I heard you talking all the way through, just a bit of static coming out. Did you turn your volume up full, it might be just a bit dull. But in this one it kept cutting out about just a bit over half way, while I was typing this suggestion. Annie Queensland Australia
Hi Stuart - is there any particular reason why you mixed the green for glazing the trees rather than using the sap green basis that you used to paint them?
Good Lord, 4:00 in and I'm seeing an owl's face in his clouds on the left side of the screen. Mr. Davies, I believe I am watching to many of your videos. No plan to stop ... learning far too much. Tree name and types ... does someone insist that you should be a botanist as well?
Can I suggest for your pallet knives, putting a piece of string or ribbon attached to each one and hanging it off of your easel. That is what I have done. Kindest Regards, Annie Queensland Australia.
Not sure of your pc skills, so just thought I would suggest basics: I like working with solid state drive for faster memory upload and download, in addition to RAM. The more RAM, the faster your computer can process reading data in addition to its other processing tasks. I also close out unneeded background programs running when doing a specific job by pulling up task manager and stopping those not needed for the task. They will resume when you restart your computer. I found my best camera transfer to a solid state external memory drive saved me hours of time and kept my pc from bogging. The other part, one I have to plan, is defragment of the internal disk. Mine is now set weekly because it takes a long time if not done regularly and condenses space in use. Also, storing large files as zip file can take up less memory; there is free zip file software, just check consumer ratings.
'It's not difficult'. Especially if you've been doing it for the best part of fifty years. 😉 However, I started playing guitar in 1974 and still can't understand why beginners aren't very good at it. 😁
I’ve really enjoyed these past moments in rerun sorta ta say I float upon your YTUBE spot n catch your mind at that moment, again n again, just for reference ,pleasure n whatever, I’m awed by this set of trees in the way it is ,looking forward to see what may come in this set of your teachings ,,thank Tiger Lilly for me .she has her own .as does my Sophie, they run or life’s to say llll

The sound was ok and loved that sky
Two videos so close... This is great... I love the life this painting gets
Both versions of this painting are wonderful, and the knowledge you impart is very much appreciated. Thank you, Stuart.

Lovely to hear from you again. Also like the painting.
Beautiful detail. I really like your creations with use of brushes and paper towels. Love it! ♥️
I find this to be one of your finest. You are inspiring to say the least.
No problem on sound as usual. Thanks for the great vid.

A wonderful painting Stuart Thanks for upload God Bless
You are very welcome!
Great composition. You do influence this artist. I resist planning and your technique is spontaneous. It is such a great approach.

Fascinating to watch and learn..thank you
You are a middle aged master. Thanks so much for this one.

I'm pretty sure it was just a loose connection, it seems to be ok now!
Превосходно! Браво, Мастер!

Gesso is basically acrylic white paint, but far better than ordinary wall paint.
Great work 👏
Thank you! Cheers!

Hi Stuart - is there any particular reason why you mixed the green for glazing the trees rather than using the sap green basis that you used to paint them?
The Sap green is just to establish the darks.
@@StuartDavies I see - could a similar effect be achieved by just lightening the tone of the original sap green mixture?

If you have time would you please advise about sending an oil painting from England to Australia? 24”x18”
Plywood or hardboard on both front and back and a couple of layers of cardboard, then brown wrapping paper.
@@StuartDavies Thank you Stuart
AMAZING! I am learning so much from you. Thank you so much! You are a genius painter! Sorry for the !!!s
Hi Stuart i was woundering what size of canvas board / Ply do you use
For these demo's I use 80x60cm plywood.
Excellent video, like the Donald duck voice!!
Definitely a "sound"idea to make sure audio is good .

Unmissable. Especially when Mickey Mouse met Mystic Meg Green.

I often marvel at how I can lose an object in 3 sqft. It's like it disappears into another dimension.😏
