She thought 1 hand on the matt was sufficient, which was a huge mistake on her part, regardless she still cut Grasso and won the round. The roll was actually a clever move to decrease impact from fall, distance herself from opponent, and return to feet without ending up on bottom. You're clearly mx or a troll, quite possibly both. Valentina isn’t used to not being the UFC’s favorite. Mexico > Valentina for the UFC.
They don’t overtly root for or against any fighters. They do put fighters into situations though. Like losing your belt on the scale by a half pound, finishing your fight, and then having to go get your belt in Abu Dhabi. They don’t root, but they create situations.
It is clear the wanted the Mexican to win….. all of them in fact.

In Abu Dhabi there are 36-39 hours to hydrate and arrive as best as possible for the night of the fight, they fight at sea level, the best hotels. Oliveira doesn't have to cry, only his fans, he himself said that everything was fine, he had one of the best weight cuts. and when they did not have a title event at UFC 283, they offered him a rematch in Brazil vs Islam and he said he was not mentally prepared. Now he has his revenge and has a chance of winning in a place where the rehydration time for the fighters is respected. In Australia at UFC 284 there were 28 hours of rehydration and on that occasion no one said that Islam was affected, and having 8 hours less to rehydrate Volka did not affect him in the same way as Islam, because Volka does not make that extreme cut at 155 lbs, while Islam needed his 36 hours to get to his best, can you imagine if Charles had had 8 fewer hours to rehydrate? Or Chandler? or any light weight fighter. Also at UFC 293 Adesanya and Strickland had 44 hours to rehydrate, in Australia always change that, in any other place there are 36-39 hours

Sadly she's probably the best out there in ufc but either loses at a terrible time and isn't matched up right. If you did shev vs returning Rousey. Or even cyborg in Brazil or something. There's just not alot of other big names in woman's mma. Nunes had her wars. Harrison lost , cyborg is in a different company. Ronda is retired. She can't draw because a combination of all that. Still one of the best ever. If she trained all out idk she's got hobbies too. Still she could be champ again easy.

Valentia Shevchenko seems like a natural heel to me. She really should just embrace it. She might not even realize "heels" are a thing the UFC. Lots of people don't consciously understand. Chael talks about this stuff constantly, but the fighters aren't paying attention. It's kind of shocking, really.

Im strongly convinced that what motivates Ariel Helwani stems from him being a nerdy dork wanting to outdo the big jockey type fighters and how he does that is by finding ways to make them say stupid things on air, i think it makes him feel good about himself.
As a Valentina fan regardless if she won or not she has not been challenged like this before not even amanda gave her this type of challenge. You can tell she’s only got one or maybe two fights left because she’s on the decline now. Santos gave her a very good fight as well

I think that Shevchenko was just trying to reiterate her point (of Mexico Independence Day bias) by suggesting that they do the re-match on Kergestan's Independence Day (I don't think that Shevchenko was actually serious about doing the fight in Kergestan). Just my guess though.
Dude.... i ain't going to outright insult Ariel... i believe at one point he was a truly unbiased sports journalist. But in the past several years, he has allowed his political leanings to prod him towards the engagement of drama and in many cases, he entices it.... tries to create it.... a very recent example is the Izzy/Dricus beef and making sure that the race/color of the fighters was the focus of the matchmaking.... among many others... at this point i believe Ariel has put his integrity at risk, and ill never watch him with the same respect i once had...

I saw about half of that interview, did Ariel ever get around to teller her that those knees weren’t illegal? He mentioned it before the interview saying something along the lines of “Valentina doesn’t know the rules and how do we expect the referees (or judges idr) to know the rules”.

@@jasonmiller9495 I saw that video too but one thing that’s a bummer is judges can’t go back and analyze the fight after it happened. When I saw the fight I gave round 4 to Alexa but when I watched it again the next morning I thought Val won that round and then I saw the weasel video a couple hours later.
I think her line may possibly be misinterpreted I kinda think she's saying give me a day where no matter how I do or the fight goes I win because that's basically how these judges made this look

I still don’t understand the “headliner” bit. If “co-main” doesn’t count as you say, then do you realize how many champions have never headlined? How about decentralized judging on UFC fights?
Like do a UFC app which allows you to vote in each round for the winner. Make it secure against abuse and sell it to people, on a subscription basis.
That would even raise the interest in fights, as anyone could participate.
🤔The Bisping pay shpeel led me to find out the interesting fact that Alistair Overeem is the 3rd most paid UFC fighter of all time at 9.91 M.
Only behind Khabib(14.77M) and Conor (25.3M).

@Chael Yes the fight was in the US (Nevada) but on Mexican Independence Day and dedicated to Mexicans: UFC Noche. The crowd was predominately Mexican, so it was a hostile Valentina environment and I get her analogy to fight in Kyrgyzstan on Kyrgyzstan's Independence Day, where the refs might be biased towards her. What part of that don't you get Chael?
These are things that champions must overcome; in the first fight, Grasso was the challenger and didn't have that support as in this fight. It's the business that calls the shots, for example, Figuieredo vs. Moreno 4 took place in Brazil because it was economically viable for the UFC
Yes but as she said in the interview she has never been asked by ufc who do you want to fight the ufc just tell her who she fighting and she said the date was August 31 and they have somewhere where she could fight

You can score it for her, but not hands down. Grasso had more sting at the end of her punches and Val did little when she brought the fight to the ground (minus the guillotine). Grasso had bigger moments and had them when they counted.

To be fair Kyrgyzstan is one of those countries where if the Leader is 'Behind' a sport or local star it means the resources of the entire country will be used to make whatever event happen, so i'd take that statement extremely seriously.

I agree with what you say about Val’s failure in that interview. But you don’t know how fights are currently scored. I sometimes forget the Chael commission rules are so different from real ones. For example, you get points for making a fool of yourself and the sport while talking into a microphone
