@@scottstevens129love how people ignore valentina getting dropped and almost finished, kneed multiple times and almost finished, and nearly finished in 5th
A lot of people think he mistakenly picked Shev winning the 4th and therefore gave Grasso a 10-8 in the 5th to balance it out, but personally I think this is what really happened. He had Shev winning the 4th, I mean he chose her after all. And then saw her dominating the first 3 and a half minutes of the 5th and was okay with his decision, but then when she slipped on the banana peel and ended the round on bottom almost getting submitted he said aint no way I can pick her winning this fight after it ending like that. And then decided to give Grasso a 10-8. Why do I feel this way? Well a few reasons. One I already answered, I doubt judges really be making mistakes on who they thought won a rd. As it is there's not a ton of pressure when they aren't held responsible anyways. But even more than that, there is this constant fallacy that you have to dominantly beat the champ in order to get the belt and I just don't believe in it. That kind of thinking is what makes champs complacent and they start doing the bare minimum to skate by. Like Izzy and Usman used to do. The person defending should have to defend just as hard as the person taking it. So very likely this idea played a factor. And then ofc the elephant in the room. This dude had Holland beating JDM. He clearly doesn't know how to judge a fight in the first place. So it wouldn't shock me if he was doing this kinda stuff.
@@michaelthomas1923 Yeah, if the draw happened because he gave Alexa 2,4 and 5 with the 3rd round being a 10-8 to Valentina, there wouldn't be as much people complaining
The 10/8 judge clearly violated his trust. Most people would say he called the fight exactly right until the 5th round which makes it seem a whole lot more like he wasn't intoxicated or anything like that. I don't even think he felt "Mexican" pressure due to the location. I think he's not allowed to revise his score card and his honest opinion was the fight should be a draw and he knew he could get away with it. I think its funny all the commotion about it. Round 4 was super close. If all 3 judges had given round 4 to Grasso and all 3 called round 5 10/9 Grasso there is no fuss, just a sizable number thinking round 4 could've gone either way (which it could've). The problem Valentina had was she ended the fight getting beaten up. And she let it go to the scorecard. And it was in Mexico. And she wasn't the champion. Given all of that, what's the fuss about? The only reason Valentina lost either fight to Nunes was Nunes was the existing champion and the judges don't call round 9-9 when a round is essentially a draw. Nunes got the benefit of the doubt. This time Grasso didn't get the benefit of the doubt, just one bad judge who could've been a good judge and still have called it for Grasso. That's on Valentina. And really, Valentina didn't deserve the immediate rematch. The previous fight didn't go to the scorecard. At this point both Valentina and Grasso are significantly better than the field, though Tatiana would have something to say about that. With the way the young ladies are progressing, who knows how long either fighter will be at the top.
Bad judging and should be investigated and done away with. But if you look at every style of fighting, bad judges, especially in boxing. That judge should definitely be fired.
Judges should absolutely have to answer media questions. If you have that much control over the outcome of something, holding them accountable should be the bare minimum
@@RWJ127 sure do.Yes Dana is the president but that still doesn't change the fact that they're the ones in the war room making the fights. That's why they were employed there by TKO Group Holdings - a subsidiary of Endeavor.
The UFC won't be the same again when Dana and Rogan eventually leaves. I even expect UFC to lose viewership when it happens. I think Buffer is the only one who can safely leave and not cause major damage to views. The fighters are easily replaceable instead of the top brass which is very rare in sports.
Khabib made the islam vs Charles and Volk fights so give khabib credit too since he pushed for one of the best mma fights of all time. Khabib was literally telling Dana what to do lol
Grasso dropped Valentina, landed several damaging knees, ended the fight on top with ground and pound plus heavy sub attempts…. VS Valentina’s one guillotine attempt… sorry but there was no robbery here
not in the 5th rd. there was a robbery if it was 10-9 Valentina would have won. Valentina won the first 3 minutes of the 5th. Anyway, the real champ will be crowned in a couple of weeks.
@@jimberry5318 the 10-8 round indeed was bs, but it was an executive decision. They knew it was going to be exposed, because it was blatantly obvious, but they no longer care because they have long nurtured an army of yes men to salute every poor excuse for an argument to the contrary that this rotten (tho granted, skillful) person offers. It's sooo convenient to have the refereeing body technically separated from the UFC itself, because it allows them to whine like he does here, every time, and make it seem as if they have no control over it. And each time the story gets lapped up blindly, without ever asking the question - how can the refereeing body be this bad for this long, without anyone ever doing anything about it? How is it possible? Well, whenever things keep being inexplicably bad in spite of them being in plain view, the reason is, and always will be, corruption. How many different sports does it take to understand that things always work like that?
It was a Mexican champion, in Mexico, on Mexican Independence day. No way the judges go any other way. Valentina would have had to have won by decapitation.
Thank God they are running it back. It would be egregious to not give Valentina a rematch after getting so screwed by Mike Bell. 1-1....need the tie breaker.
Well he should have also scored the 4th for grasso A draw is fair ( that's how I scored it live but actually because of a 10-8 for Valentina in round 3)
@TMeek94 the 4th was a pretty clear Shevchenko rd. Most of tose knees missed, and they weren't very damaging. Shevchenko opened her up with an elbow and rocked her with some solid punches. Damage trumps, and cuts are a big deal when scoring. It goes to Shevchenko based on accumulative damage and the cut.
Could you imagine if the Mexico vs Puerto Rico rivalry spilled into the ufc? You could have two noche ufc's one in New York or Florida for Puerto Rican day in June and one around September 16th for Mexican independence day. Viva Mexico Cabrones!!!
Dana did the right thing in promising the rematch, HOWEVER, he also broke the ESPN+ record, and completely dismissed the idea holding the commission accountable (i.e. -- stood up for them in essence). So, the question becomes, why would he go to back for them when they just screwed everything up and it's what the fans want? Is it possible that the personal relationship benefits the UFC more otherwise in some other manner...?
fight was fixed.but now they probably realize how bad it was, like a fight is fast paced so is the scoring, when a draw it was to late to even think about it and then the backlash like this
@@TheMatrixgod Oh god, its one of you people. Do not forget your tin foul hat layered beanie before you go outside. Tell me how the fight was fixed when Grasso clearly won round 2,4,5? yet they still gave it a draw? The only way your argument makes any sense, is if they wanted Valentina to win, because she lost 3 rounds according to people who actually watched the fight.
Shevchenko won 4 rds. Minimum 3 rds. She was completely screwed and should be champ. I like Grasso, she fought great, but she lost and it wasn't that close.
@thecastingdeck8148 Grasso won the 2nd and 5th, Shevchenko won 1st and 3rd. 4th is a tight, close, round, and either fighter getting the nod would be understandable. The problem is this dork making it a 10-8. If it wasn't for that there would be no controversy.
@@thecastingdeck8148I agree, I watched it live and thought she was 3-1 going into the 5th, she completely changed the tide this fight and she inflicted the majority of the damage, and had majority of the control, it’s crazy that people are trying to discredit her because they like Grasso, what’s right is right, she won and she was winning pretty decisively to me, Grasso had moments but Valentina had "rounds" and "dominance", the shit is wack af.
At this point, with the WWE merger. He might as well have some of them get in the octagon or his guys in the ring now. It's devolved into a freaking circus.
The judge wasn’t wrong on giving Alexa the round considering she was the champion and ended that last round in impressive fashion!! But a 10-8 maybe could be a little much haha
He only has a problem with bad judging when it negatively affects his pockets… he’s got a problem with the 10-8 round yet was fine with them robbing Jared Gordon. He even said that GORDON shouldn’t have coasted in the last round, when he clearly won that round and Paddy admitted HE was the one that coasted. In order of importance it goes Money, the optics of it, and then integrity.
What a joke the UFC has become. They’re signing anyone and everything thus making almost every card light on top fighters. Go look at UFC 104 then compare it to any PPV this year.
You are 100% right. They have water down the product and cheaping out on fighters. They will release legit top contenders who are paid too much just to give a contender series guy a 10/10 contract.
It's because they have to put on too many fight events to fulfill their contractual ESPN obligations so they cannot just fix the problem quickly or perhaps ever, now that MMA is so popular there will always be a TV contract.
No disrespect to the fighters, but like I’m not even impressed by the prelim fighters. I feel like almost anyone could get to their level with 4-5 years of training. Is this really the very best in the world?
@@LetHimRead True. Ten years ago i don't think they had nearly as many fight cards as they do now. UFC hasn't taken a Saturday off since like April i think. They are signed to put on the shows, so they need the bodies. It's awesome getting fight cards almost every Saturday a year, but the product is going to suffer a bit and it likely doesn't help fighter pay
Yeah Izzy might be a big draw, but he didn't really show any aggression (actually he didn't move forward even one time during the fight) against Strickland. I have to believe that when a fighter doesn't show any offense, they shouldn't be awarded an instant rematch; instant rematches are for closely contested, exciting fights.
I’m not gonna lie it’s was a draw only because schevchenko got saved by the bell and was almost submitted again and almost armbarred but I think was saved by the bell
Lie or not, this is a technical sport with a scoring system, even if it is a bad scoring system. Grasso fought great and can wiggle out of a pinch. And, if you wanna be harping on close calls, it looked like Shevchenko was going to cholk-out Grasso too a few times. My respect to both fighters, but by the rules and actual points, Shevchenko won the fight. She didn’t dominate to the degree she aimed for, and again Grasso is slippery in a pinch and has great punch power, but the fight scoring was wrong; anyone who actually knows how scoring is supposed to go acknowledges the scoring was wrong, and therefore Shevchenko should have won the belt. Trilogy fight is a must.
I haven’t watched the fight or this video but if you choose a judge that has been a trainer they’re embedded with an inner bias towards their own fighters which probably carry’s over into judging - they become biased for their favourite on the night
My question is why did they have a champion belt ready to give to valentina in the background during the announced of the draw that was NOT the mexican belt? They had a secondary belt for her and didnt plan on giving her the mexican belt from the get go
Because one of the belts was specially made for Grasso! Same thing as the superbowl winning team t-shirts and hats pre-made to be ready for whatever happens. Hey, I love both fighters, and I like rules. By the rules, and existing crappy scoring system Shevchenko should have won. If there were extra points for passion under duress or what if’s maybe Grasso gets enough points for a draw, but you are having a convenient memory here, because Shevchenko also came very close to cholking out Alexa…Too bad the night was tainted. Trilogy got to happen.
@amyjones64 wasn't it created for Mexicos independence day celebration? Was shevchenko not supposed to put it on her wasn't because she's not Mexican? That's messed up
4th round could go to Grasso (2 takedowns, ending with an ankle lock). Bell scored it for Schev. He probably realised this when scoring round 5 and corrected to 10-8. Draw is a fair result, Schev opened a cut with her jabs, and came to close to submission, but got almost knockdown and didn’t look to be dominating the fight in the last 2 rounds.
Dude you're literally regurgitating the same nonsense word for word you saw someone else type. I have seen this exact same thing typed word for word over and over to justify this. "He rEalIzED tHIS aND cOrReCtEd It tO 10-8".
@@chipchippahson thanks for the heads up, probably someone else saw it the same way 😂 if you watch the fight it makes sense though. Would it be fair if Schevchenko won after not dominating the fight, almost being knocked down or close to being submitted in the 4th, and ending the fight with a weak round?
The judges judge each round separately. You can't just add or take away points just to equalize the scores from previous rounds. It is unprofessional and not fair. The fight was super close and both fighters could have won, there is no robbery here. But 10-8 for the fifth round is the dumbest thing a referee could do.
@@Woody_Johnson originally UFC didn’t have rounds and scores per round. IMHO scores per round are just a crosscheck to backup the overall impression. The guy/girl should win who got the upper hand when the fight is translated to a street fight. I just assume the judge didn’t see Schevchenko superior overall and corrected it by discounting a later round to make it right. Atomically round 5 is judged wrong in this case, but overall the scoring represents the judge’s opinion.
That’s bc that was an understandable dec you ignoramus. 10-8 round 5 makes absolutely no sense whatsoever . But Grasso won rounds 2,4,5 anyway so she should have won that fight regardless of all this 10-8 Bs. Grasso got robbed

So it wouldn't shock me if he was doing this kinda stuff.
how she was wimning majority of the fight n outstriked her 2
Usman, excluding the 1st Masvidal fight, always put a good performance
That is exactly what happened. A draw is a fair score, but you can't do what he did to make it happen.
You can say that about Izzy on a few occasions, but Usman has always been aggressive and dominant, whether you find his style entertaining or not
@@michaelthomas1923 Yeah, if the draw happened because he gave Alexa 2,4 and 5 with the 3rd round being a 10-8 to Valentina, there wouldn't be as much people complaining

Ask Dana if he thinks the judge should be power slapped.. Can’t believe power slap is approved by commissions, absolutely insane.
No like dana said valentina deserves a rematch. No need to blab on the way you did.

@TMeek94 the 4th was a pretty clear Shevchenko rd. Most of tose knees missed, and they weren't very damaging. Shevchenko opened her up with an elbow and rocked her with some solid punches.

She should’ve tried harder on the armbar then
OK but those are the rules you can't finish someone after the bell. So you think nate diaz beat leon?
Dana hit us with the nice soft “what’s up guys”
