the healer strike is literally insinuating that the healer role is useless due to lack of identity and other roles encroaching on the healer role with their own self sustain abilities, this literally proved the point but in a different direction 😭
The healer strike is pretty stupid for several reasons, this video doesnt really prove any point. And the movement is being headed by people that do not understand what they are talking about. 1. Levelling content such as dungeons and normal trials are not good measures, content like this and the content that was cleared during the media tour is never going to be super engaging for healers purely because the content isnt designed to be hard. If you think healers have nothing to do then you need to use extreme or harder level content because that is actually where most jobs, healers and others, actually are required to interact with their full toolkit 2. The dawntrail content and the content of this video that have been done healerless have both used warrior, a tank known to be absurdly good at surviving in dungeon style content, replicating them with a dark knight is a much more difficult propasition 3. Being able to do story dungeons without a healer is a GOOD THING actually, it means that if a group loses their healer to disconnect they can continue through the dungeon albeit at a slower pace, it means that even if your healer refuses to heal or spends the majority of the content on the floor then the group doesnt need to disband and requeue. And its not unique to healers being optional, tanks are also optional, you can clear any normal level dungeon with just a healer and dps, same as tanks with no healer. No single person should be able to completely prevent progress in content because they feel like it
@@DP9k thats no warrior in this video, its a gunbreaker. and while i'm not part of the healerstrike, because im not really a healer i do think its a good thing. because the point about the strike is not the strike itself but the talk about it. nobody with a brain would think a forum post would make enough player stop playing healer that it would make a big difference
@@DP9k My problem with the healer strike is that some of them are missing the point. They're attacking other jobs' self sustain abilities instead of the encounter design itself. The argument that this problem only applies to leveling and story content is only half true, because in well-optimized groups healers don't need to actually heal that much even for hard content and even Ultimates have been cleared without a dedicated healer. This is an encounter design issue. Or a healer job design issue. They need to make damage less predictable to necessitate more healing, or they need to make healer DPS more fun if they don't want to change their approach to fight design.
@@Zakon673 its an encounter design issue but we dont have any knowledge that the dawntrail encounters will be like that, and endwalkers last extreme zeromus is a fairly healer intensive fight where they need to make full use of their kits across several mechanics in a row, if dawntrail pulls more from that it will be fine. Additionally the top no healer clear was one very good group who planned the whole fight specifically around the ways to circumvent healer requirements, its not something feasible for most people playing the game and exists as an outlier. I could understand healers being unhappy with the state of their gameplay but those judgements simply cant be made about dawntrail until we actually get our hands on the content.
@@DP9k @DP9k 1. You really don't think we can use dungeons to determine if dungeons are boring as a healer? Only extremes can be used to determine if dungeons are boring? Or are you saying the only fun content healers are allowed is the top end stuff? 2. So your answer to tanks probably have too much healing is don't worry everything I've seen only uses the absolute most broken healer tank? I can tell you now that while it is easier on warrior, any tank class can do it at 90. 3. This one I agree with you, it should not be an absolute requirement to have a healer in a dungeon, but it should be optimal. Large tank heals should require a GCD to use and should be designed so that the best option is to let the tank DPS not heal and the healer DPS and heal with OGCDs. As it is now the tank will always heal and it's better to get an actual DPS than a healers DPS.
