  • Today I'll be diving into Beachbody, a multi level marketing company that has rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. First I'll be discussing some stories from previous Beachbody coaches, diving into some "training material" Beachbody coaches share with one another, and discussing my opinion on Beachbody and their business practices. If you enjoy antimlm content, subscribe and comment down below what companies you'd like to see me cover next! Thank you to everyone who has supported my channel through everything from viewing to commenting and sharing. You have made me so excited to make and edit videos, and I'm so grateful for it all.

My favourite Beachbody encounter was sent to me after I posted a recovery before and after of my weight gain. I was being tube fed in the first picture for a raging eating disorder. Some asshat messaged me asking if I would like to lose the extra weight I had gained before the end of summer. Nice job there Beachbody.

This client posts on social media before & after pics of her using Arbonne products, when my esthetician friend KNOWS this client gets regular facials and uses her skincare line. Former Beachbody Coach here 👋 I honestly felt I was taken advantage of, brainwashed, gaslit, love bombed, and put down. I was a new mom who was out of a job and wanted friends, and to get back into shape. Sometimes my upline and her upline, would call me when they saw I lost rank, or wasn't purchasing Shakes monthly. So gross. Feel so good to be out of the Cult 😌

My in-laws are Beachbody "Coaches". My father in laws mother had a mini stroke(which was awful to hear about) and instead of calling to ask if she was ok or what the doctor said etc...he(my father-in law) called her up and said "Do you want* my mother in law*to create a diet for you?" Like how heartless do you have to be to ask your own MOTHER who just had a MINI STROKE something like that? I was both livid and disgusted. I'm civil with them...but I've lost all respect for them after that.

*Beach Body can cure eating disorders!* I had an acquaintance from college who became a Beach Body recruiter. The way she tried to recruit me was so gross. She messages me with the typical script "hey girl, I have an opportunity for you!" so I told her that I recently finished grad school and wasn't her target demographic. She didn't take the hint. I kept talking about my career, gently reminding her why I wasn't interested in selling anyone anything. Since my ambition was in eating disorders treatment, she LITERALLY tried saying I could use Beach Body to help my patients develop a healthier relationship with food and exercise. And then they can start to sell under me too! Vulnerable psychiatric patients as targets of an MLM. Who knew? The cure to eating disorders has been right in front of us all this time! Nevermind how inappropriate it would be and how many ethical violations would be crossed if I had even suggested their products to a patient!

You can get free apps for your phone that have fantastic Beginner-Advanced workout routines in them that don't require equipment. You can buy a good protein powder, some frozen fruit or veggies and some almond milk to make your own shakes that taste exactly how you want them to for barely a fraction of the cost (but also, you can make real food that will nourish you properly). Why buy into something you can do with a pair of sneakers, a yoga mat, and a little blender at home for not nearly as much money?

That person you are mentioned then gets home and is around all family members who are eating pizza . But if that same person has a community support it can go along away .

The truth about MLM whatever it may be Beachbody ,Amway Herbalife etc is that they sell a “dream” that can be accomplished in your spare time and that anybody can do it and once you do it you can be wealthy and financially free .
The truth is that in order to have any success you will have to constantly sell and recruit in order to both build your business and then to sustain it it. If you sign up for any MLM ( one that actually is legit ) you will essentially be signing up to be a salesperson, recruiter and if at all successful you will now be a sales and recruit manager. The turnover in all MLMs is insane and It will be a full time job that will take up All your free time just to sustain what you built . A very rare few will be able to have success long term most will fail and lose a lot of money and waist a lot of time . I love what you said about loving your body and being comfortable in your own skin. I think that's very important to hear from someone with a personal trainer background. I feel like there is so much emphasis on physical appearance over health, and I have definitely struggled with weight and body image. I think there are dangers to either extreme, and that body positivity can be used as a shield by people who are suffering health problems, but also that we cannot assume that people look a certain way because of a certain reason. A lot of this industry is driven by judgement and comparison and capitalises upon people's inherent insecurities.

That's a good point about the Beachbody coach might already be athletic or naturally thin. I know a (former?) Beachbody coach that always used her pregnancy photos as her "before" because she was already a runner and had an athletic build before (and after) her previous pregnancies. Plus it's just really unfair to use pregnancy as a before because you are going to gain weight and your body is going to change and each woman's response to pregnancy is different but their vulnerability is the same.

I own a business (A LEGIT ONE) and I have done researching on conversion rates for sales. After researching I learnt that only 1% to 3% of people you engage will actually sign up and buy something. That means, basically for every 100 people she reached out to, she should of gotten 1 - 3 sales on average. I feel sad that she didn't even get that many sales! The market must either be shady or over saturated, or both. Very sad....

    • @cruelworldhappymind

Yes! So true, from my business studies I learned that as well but the mlm market I think it so over saturated and customer prospects are so used to their “over aggressive” approach that making a sale becomes harder and harder I think!

I was a “coach” with beachbody many years ago. One of the worst parts was customers could go on the website and order without using coaches links. I had customers who didn’t go through my link and purchased directly from the website, so I didn’t see a penny from those sales and I know one person spent hundreds of dollars and did the monthly subscription of shakeology for quite awhile. I reached out to customer service to see if they could switch her to be under my account and nope, so sorry.
Don’t know if they still have their site set up so you can buy without having someone you go through, but definitely hurts the people selling!

The craziest thing for beachbody coaches is that you can buy anything from beachbody outside of a coach. Most MLMs the products are sold exclusively through the consultant or “Coach” so they at least have a corner on the market, but with beachbody if you really wanted something you can go to amazon and buy the product or there are infomercials selling the programs. So why sign up for some autoship when you can just buy it with FREE shipping on amazon when wanted. Also it is SO frustrating that beachbody has “health and fitness coaches” when they have ZERO nutrition or physical fitness education... they have no qualifications to claim to be a health or fitness coach.

This is totally unrelated to the topic of this video, but I'd love to see a video on MLM vendor shows. I don't know if this is just a thing in my area but there's women in my local buy and sell groups constantly looking for people who sell MLM products to set up at shows. They have reps from almost every common MLM: LulaRoe, 31 Gifts, Avon, Young Living, Younique, Arbonne, Beach Body, Scentsy, Epicure, Pampered Chef, etc. Then they try to get people who sell handmade items to also set up at the shows to make them look more credible and less MLM heavy. I've even heard stories of some women scamming vendors by taking their money and then telling them there isn't space for them when they arrive to set up. When I was looking for places to set up and sell my vintage clothing, one of these women tried to get me to set up at her show and I almost fell for it. I hate to think of all of these people going to these shows and buying a bunch of crappy MLM products, and that the women who set up there are paying even more money just to try to get more sales and exposure.

Question, is there a "type" of person that MLMs are taught to look for, because people seem to pick up quickly, I ask the wrong questions. (So I was told). I just wonder what "training" teaches a MLM seller about selling, and more importantly recruiting? It seems to be CONTACT EVERYONE, and I am such a waste. Oh man. I got into beach body last year. I thought it was going to be awesome, because I’ve been using their workouts for ages. Like, since Hip Hop abs came out. Lol. I was a SAHM of 6 and wanting to get back into barrel racing, so I thought it would be a great way to get in shape and make extra money for entry fees. NO! NNNOOOOOOO!!!!! It was a waste of money. It didn’t take long for me to lose focus in the selling aspect. I felt like annoying trash when I was posting every day about it, then when my coach started suggesting I sign up my mom, husband, and siblings under coaching acts, I really lost motivation. That’s a lot of money to spend just to maintain coaching status. Again, I’m a mom of six and a disabled vet, so, money isn’t growing on trees for me, the way it apparently does for my coach. Then my coach started in on me with literally the same exact language that her coach used. “I see something in you”, “You’re a boss mom”...... It made me lose my last tiny bit of motivation. You really can’t find your own words? I’m so important to you, that you follow a script while talking to me, right? Lol. To top it off, it took me 3 months for cancellations to go through, and, they refused to refund my money, even though it was BB issues that kept me from canceling. The workouts were great. I still enjoy them and they did get me back in shape. But, I now workout for free and do just as well. All the time I put into posting my stupid BB posts, I instead put into studying up on my own and am better off. I regret ever getting involved w/BB coaching🤦🏼‍♀️

Anyway she was trying to get me to join for a little while since i'm really into skincare and makeup and at the time i had no knowledge about MLMs other than a bad experience with a Norwex lady pressuring me into having a party lol (i never had it but only because my mom called her and chewed her out for being so pushy LOL) and she pulled out basically those same points to convince me. She was really open about them being literally written out for her though (she's a nice person, she wasnt trying to pressure me, she thought it would ease my concerns i guess ) and i just remember thinking how gross it was that they literally wrote a script to convince people to do something they probably didnt want to do. She's still deeeeeep in it and it really sucks because i know she genuinely just loves the idea of it. Since she's not actually losing money i dont want to crush her dreams and tell her what i really think about MLMs, but you bet your ass i tell her that her upline can go to hell when they tell her she's not working hard enough etc. Hoping she sees the light eventually

I used to be passionate about fitness and nutrition and figured it could be a way to get myself back on the bandwagon. She had a whole motivating monologue that got me suckered in and I was on her team. I was added to a team group chat and a few days later a girl messaged the chat with a screen shot of a convo she was having with another girl and asked for pointers and all of them messaged with things to say that would talk the girl into a sale. It felt dirty, they're just swindling people into joining. It's not what I wanted to be a part of. So I left the same week I joined lol.

Just to say: 95% of all diets fail in the long run. They seem to work short term, so you get the before and after photos, but within 5 years people gain the weight back.
A failure rate of 95% doesn't seem to indicate that people just weren't dedicated enough, rather it's a major fault in the system itself. Works just like the mlm statistics.;)
Instead of diets experts are nowadays recommending to learn to recognize hunger, change your lifestyle gradually, eat more veggies, eat regularly and also eat enough (of healthy foods) to avoid cravings, excercise, reduce bad stress, and sleep enough. That should lead to a healthy life that you can actually maintain, and having less weight as a result. The quality of food is important, though a healthy lifestyle means you can also eat junk food every now and then.
For me stress and mental health problems have always been the main cause for gaining weight, and stress seems to be a very common cause (people know all the facts, they're just too stressed out to be able to act accordingly), so I can't see how diets would help with that, except perhaps very temporarily.

Thankfully, the body is amazing and you dont really need to do more than measure out your portions and excersise 30 minutes a day. One bad day of eating doesnt mean you have to throw the whole diet away. That mentality inhibits progress and makes people sad

My friend has been a "coach" for 4 years now and boy is it annoying looking at her social media accounts. I avoid it because she posts the same thing every single day. A picture of her drinking her shakes, a picture of her eating healthy, a picture of her abs, then ends it with a video showing her workout she did for the day as well as a pep talk about how "beach body is so easy and so convenient anybody can do it!" Makes me wanna throw up because she's become so fake ever since she started this stupid pyramid scheme. It will... but more like it will pop up in its place. It seems that’s how these things work 😕

Savannah Marie actually did a video revealing that Beach Body has a secret non-MLM "sister" called Open Fit that started operating last year. My theory is that the FTC is looking into BB right now, and when they get shut down, OF will become an MLM because that's just what the founders of MLM's do. If they get shut down they come back with another.

"We have a product" just means "We found a loophole." I don't even understand how that's a good argument. "We found a way to circumvent the law and still do the same thing" isn't really reassuring to me.

Yep... I didn’t even realize when making this but a lot of it is very reminiscent of cult behavior

I find Scientology so fascinating and creepy!! MLM schemes remind me a lot of Scientology.

My mom and I got sucked into buying their shakes, we split the cost between the 2 of us because holy moly were they expensive (and nasty to boot!)! We kept getting them for a time but then we decided the the price just wasn't worth it, especially when I branched out and found better and cheaper shakes. I do like the actual workout videos and the personalities that lead those workouts. The workouts definitely helped (and continue to help now that gyms are closed) me get and stay active. If they just focused on making at home workouts, I'd actually want to support them directly.

So back in 2015 I bought insanity and loved it. I was never a coach but boy did they bombard me with sales pitches. I just wanted to enjoy my damn workout. However, doing my own research, I wanted to try Shakeology. Just as an aid, not to do the work for me. So I bought it, I loved it and I still do. Obviously, I stopped buying Shakeology because after 3 months and 15lbs lighter, I was confident in myself enough to save the $140 and stick to the good eating habits I had learned. A few years later I gained the weight back due to an injury that prevented me from continuing my constant active life. Now in 2020, I plan on using Shakeology again as an aid as I did back then. It worked for me and I loved it. What I HATED was the coaches! Mine was kind of an ass, so I consider myself lucky because that experience made me avoid them like the plague. I eventually learned about their work practices and saw them for what they really are. The workouts work (like any workout that makes u move your body works), and Shakeology works for me and some people. Just like all health supplements, aids, and shakes, not everything is for everyone. Beachbody coaches kinda creep me out because they all just spew the same lines like a cult. I just hate that decent products are being pushed by shady, sketchy, and brainwashed people. As someone who has used their products I can say the WORKOUTS and SHAKEOLOGY is decent and worth it if you have the money.........but STAY SWAY FROM ALL BEACHBODY COACHES AT ALL COSTS!!!

If you’ve found a program that works for you, that makes me happy ☺️ I agree with you on bb coaches, thank you for sharing your experience!! 💜🌟

I got approached by a hun and I remember the shakecology for 1 month + the programme was over 200 pounds . That’s around 250 , 260 dollars . A gym membership for a good gym and protein shakes ( I use bulk powders ) which last me for 2 months are half of that price.
