Hi sis, I will appreciate ur work and explanation.... will u pls mention the measurements of the pattern on the screen .... thanks.... otherwise excellent....
Is it important to split the collar pattern piece in two. Could you not cut the collar pattern piece on the fold to avoid the seam down the center back?
Allan Gradus no. there are two parts to the collar which is upper and under. the upper collar is the one you can cut on the fold and fuse with straight of grain. To achieve a soft roll, you have to cut the under collar in two and the fuse is on a bias.
I never understood why they did that until she commented here that you want that continuous line with the back of the jacket seam if the wearer turns the collar up.
You also want the undercollar on the bias because it's more "flexible" and will adapt to whatever you do with the collar (fold it down or flip it up). The thing is, warp and weft are often made of different yarns - so by putting the seam there, you can also make sure that the two sides of the undercollar are symmetrical, with the warp and weft running in the same direction relative to the shape of the collar, and will also behave identically.
This video ruclips.net/video/wtyyafx-k_g/видео.html explains that there is such a thing as "opposite biases". Meaning if you cut it out of once single piece, it will not be as symmetrical as if you split and reverse each side.
I'm still coming back to your videos. Great tuition drawn from skill.
You teach well. So detailed and easy to understand.
Thank you for these lessons.
Fantastic, so ,any answered questions, thank you!
