In March of this year I brought my 3DS with me to Edmonton, and I got 3 different Streepasses! One at the Mall, one at an Oilers Game and one at the Airport! I guess the 3DS still has a bit of hope for being enjoyed by others
Obviously touring an art museum with your 3DS as your guide is the only Chad way to tour ANY museum. And if you don't have your 3DS set up in your car so that you pick up other StreetPasses, you're driving wrong. Same for long train rides
One of the weirdest spots I've gotten a 3DS Streetpass was when I was working at the airport. At first glance, it sounds like I would get it all the time. At one point, I noticed I got Streetpasses from the same person every few days. Turns out they too worked at the airport; we ended up adding each other on social media and we've been keeping in touch ever since.
Maybe the true streetpass was inside of us all along. For real tho, there's something to be said of the wordless connection you make to a total stranger if you constantly pass them by on a daily routine (like this one dude who I exclusively only knew through streetpassing on my community college campus).
Since I was gonna be in Jersey City for an appointment, I recently decided to take my 3DS (which I too have only decided to play again in years) into NYC on the way to Jersey City from Long Island just to see if I'd be able to pick up any. Because I got the majority of my StreetPasses from just walking around NYC and NY Penn Station (North America's busiest train station) so you'd think surely you'll still be able to find people...apparently not. But I got to relive the nostalgia of opening my 3DS to play Nicktoons MLB like I did on all my train rides back then. The real StreetPass truly was the friends we made along the way
StreetPass brings back so many wonderful memories; I used to carry my 3DS everywhere I went whenever I was with my grandmother, just hoping I'd pass at least one person. I remember when McDonald's was a street pass hot spots, and I would always beg to go there; and not just for the fries, but for the free Street passes 🤩 Thank you for the nostalgia trip Kit and Krysta; have a terrific day and God Bless everyone 😇✝️
Going Downtown was also a great way to get a lot of StreetPass tags. During early 2014, I just discovered the feature. There were only 3 people in my plaza. But when I was going to a big city with my father, I instantly got 8 StreetPass tags. I will never forget this moment.

I still carry around at most 2 of my 3DS'es with me regularly (I have an whole army of them), and I get so hyped whenever I get that green light, soon to realise it was my spare 3ds! I was lucky enough that I did get a legitimate streetpass in June 2022, but nothing during the summer :( I really wish the 3ds lifespan would be longer, but since the announcement of the 3ds + Wii U E-shop shutdown, I dont think it will. The 3ds was and still is a great system, I had so many great memories I only described a few above, and will forever hold a special place in my heart. Edit: Great news! Got a Streetpass from a total stranger today :D
3ds has made so many memories with me and I’m so sad it’s already going away, the wii took 5 years after it’s end for the wii shop to go away but it took 3 for 3ds, it will always be my favorite game system ever

I remember those days taking my 3DS to school just to StreetPass. I got max SteetPasses per session which I believe it’s 10. And man, you have to get 10 in order to have a decent chance on beating a Find Mii level. 😹
I thought the Switch would get a Street Pass-ish feature as well when it 1st came out. I think it really would've emphasized the portable nature of the system. Seeing people trying to get Streetpasses in 2022 really puts a smile on my face, so many memories of early 3DS days. I remember going to Lego Land in 2012/13 and getting so many people that day, it was so cool, especially getting the pieces to finish the jigsaws!
I love how the 3DS UI let you use themes!! And the music and sounds were all different depending on the theme. They don’t make it like this anymore unfortunately 😢
i really do miss streetpass, it was always fun seeing people you knew had it and bumping backpack together at school cause you know you’re gonna tag each other again. and even more fun trying to triangulate the people who you would get tags from where you couldn’t tell who they were. such a great feature that the switch is sorely missing, but it was very fun while it lasted
I used to go to the Ala Moana mall in Honolulu Hawaii and get hundreds of StreetPass pings a day. With the Tourists from Japan and around the world, it was glorious.
I wish they would bring back street pass! It was so fun to go around school and find I street passed like 20 something people. I loved collecting the puzzle pieces to!
Yeah, really miss the StreetPass feature, it was a lot of fun, especially when Nintendo would send out special visitors to surprise us with Puzzle pieces and news about new games. And my favourite memory was going to "The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses" concert and received over a hundred StreetPasses to unlock the "Collected 100 StreetPass Tags in one day" challenge.🔥🔥🔥
Similar to Kit's Golden Gate Bridge experience, about 3 years after the 3DS's initial launch (so circa 2014-2016), I had just moved to Oswego, IL, which is a suburb about an hour out of Chicago, and as I worked downtown on W. Adams Street, I took the BNSF train to and from work every morning, and I actually got quite a few street passes on my 3DS that way while I was either playing Xenoblade Chronicles 3D, Smash Bros. or some other game. Sometimes I'd get the same person, and I'd always wonder to myself how their day was going lol, and it was always an exciting feeling. To this day, I'm still nostalgic about my time living there (in Dallas now), and that was a fun part of it. Shout out to anyone who remembers streetpassing with a Mii named Malakhim back then! I really think Nintendo should have incorporated that into the Switch.
Man I miss StreetPass. I wish the Switch had something like this. SwitchPass? Thanks for the video! I enjoy these ones because I like seeing the locations and you guys out and about. They're quite fun to watch. Makes me want to find some second hand 3DS units and some old games just to mess around with. Surely an era I miss fondly.
The 3DS is still my all time favorite system. I still play it all the time and I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. I always try to take my 3DS out with me, and when I travel I always keep it on me unless it’s raining. It’s rare, but it does occasionally happen! Got at least one streetpass when I went to Seattle recently for Go Fest.😄❤️
The 3DS is my favourite console of all time, so seeing it unused out of the blue and getting forgotten breaks my heart. Those little meetings were so fun to get, heck I even met my now-ex with streetpass. But it looks like people do these streetpasses ahain especially om tiktok so I hope this project rises to popularity. But that was still entertaining to watch, that food looks delicious. I hope a Streetpass-like feature exists on the next console.
I purchased my first 3ds a few months ago to play Samus Returns! I'm also catching up on some Zelda games I missed (oracle of seasons, oracle of ages etc..). I love it! Thank you for bringing us along on your quest. I enjoyed the video! :)
3DS is still Nintendo's best handheld. It had so much personality and a great library for handheld games. I remember going to miitups and getting so many streetpasses and playing games with other 3DS owners. Such an amazing time to be a fan. I think my strangest place I got a streetpass was my very first one the year it launched. I was in a very rural part of Indiana at a gas station and I randomly got one. Thankfully they also had a puzzle for a puzzle I didn't have. Long live 3DS!
My most memorable Street Pass was during the Pokemon XY launch event at Nintendo World Store in 2013. I waited in the very long line for many hours and there were many, many Street Passes. One of which I recognized the name, and it belonged to a certain TheJWittz! I haven't watched him before but I knew his name and I knew he did Pokemon content, so it was very cool to find a popular RUclipsr in my Mii Plaza. That summer in 2013 I had traveled to Ecuador to visit family, and I had gotten a Street Pass in the airport, as well as Street Passing my cousin in Ecuador. I had gotten a 3DS as my high school graduation present so it was very prominent during my college years. I would Street Pass my roommate all the time and he eventually turned off his 3DS because of the constant flashing green light haha.
i don't have any crazy streetpass stories set in france or the golden gate bridge but i remember taking my 3DS to school and always getting a handful of streetpasses when i got back home and checked
I miss streetpass so much on my 3DS, I had 6200 streetpass tags and I wish Nintendo didn’t shutdown streetpass relay stations so that we can get streetpass again at McDonald’s, Best Buy, Home Depot, Starbucks, or any places that has Nintendo Zone and sad, Nintendo Zone app discontinued since 2015 and I wish if Nintendo could continue international streetpass so that we can streetpass people from other regions. Kit and Krysta, you are awesome and I wish you can do a video to see if you can get a streetpass in Disneyland, Universal Studios, or amusement parks as I remember getting a streetpass in Disneyland and Universal Studios as well as Six Flags Discovery Kingdom and Magic Mountain. You are awesome! 💙
The 3DS is a treasure trove of dozens of outstanding exclusive games and I wish Nintendo didn't stop supporting it so soon! I understand why they did though, I just wish they didn't. It seemed like everyone on the internet back in 2018 wanted this console to die even though this console was just starting to show its full potential with games like Captain Toad, which was a Wii U game, and Luigi's Mansion, which was a very impressive GameCube game. It's not just people on the internet, but apparently people in general in 2019 just stopped caring for the 3DS. I mean, so few people bought Bowser's Inside Story that Alpha Dream went bankrupt, and the game was struggling to surpass even the Virtual Boy Mario game in sales! Yo-Kai Watch 3 is one of the worst selling titles for 3DS and is now extremely expensive on the secondhand market, but to be fair, Yo-kai Watch appeals to a more niche audience. How could this happen with such a beloved console, where it went from a hero that saved Nintendo during their dark times in the Wii U era, to a zero, where no one wanted to play it!? Well, I still play my 3DS to this day. It has so many more exclusive titles and unique ideas that Switch games can only dream of having. Right now, I am still playing WaioWare Gold, one of my favorite 3DS games, Yoshi's Woolly World, Ever Oasis, and Hey! Pikmin.
@@BlueAizu_ I never really considered the Switch to be very developer friendly because many modern games are usually delayed because the hardware is underpowered compared to its competition. I mean, it's only just slightly more powerful than a Wii U. It is more developer friendly than the 3DS, but I always thought that if a third party were to make a game for the 3DS, they would make it specifically with that console in mind, unlike the Switch. It just makes 3DS games a little more special. Plus, to me, it's never about how many ported games I can play on this console, but how many unique experiences I can have on it, like, exclusives or unique, console-specific ideas.
I made some noise about this on Twitter but I'm so glad you guys did this. Might be the push people needed to update their stuff and get carrying their 3DS around again! I hoisted all this back on my friends and there's a good chunk of us who all meet up and StreetPass still and it's been the best. Hold out for that green light! You will make someone's day with it
I got a total of 7 or 8 StreetPass tags when I went to Walt Disney World back in May for my graduation trip. I'm really happy and glad to know there are still other people out there who also use StreetPass and their Nintendo 3DS in 2022!
I loved Streetpass back in the day! Me and my son used to have it turned on all the time when we would go out to the mall with our family. We played Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate at the time. It was so fun and the 3DS is a beautiful little system. My son's 3DS is in his display case at home. And mine? It's being used as an alarm clock for my wife. 😄 So although I rarely ever game on it, the system is still useful for waking us up in the morning for sure!
I never lived around many people who had streetpass, so I always used to have my brother in my plaza and wait excitedly for when I would see my cousins.. good memories
Visiting Japan in 2014 with my 3DS was one of, if not the coolest gaming experience ever. So many people there using their 3DS, especially in Akihabara and on the train. You would max out on streetpasses very quickly so you had to check it constantly to keep them coming in.
That 3DS XL looks gigantic in Krista’s hands lol. It’s my favorite Nintendo handheld, I used to take it with me whenever my family would go to NYC so I could get streetpasses, fun times.
I remember I used to watch these about 6-8 years ago (it's been so long since then) and it really cool to see you too still having fun even after Nintendo minute
I frequently got streetpasses while on the highway. I'd take my 3DS with me often, so I'd have something to do in case it rained, or to relax with in bed (sleeping bag?) before falling asleep. It was always a treat to see a few new streetpasses when arriving to the campsite, just from people I passed on the road, or from other campers at the parks. :)
Ugh this was so fun! I miss these days. I love the Switch - it’s my favorite system ever period - but MAN is Nintendo missing the boat omitting little features like this. We can’t even get system themes or eshop music ffs 🤦🏻♂️ Anyways thanks for the fun video. 😁💙
The most recent streetpass that I got was at a library I think. There was also a time when I'd get a streetpass consistently every morning from a kid who's school bus went by our house
I got about 10 streetpass at 2022 in one convention in Finland. Those are good place to get them. Eventhough you might not get that much it's still possible.
This could certainly be a good series going forward. Could either be shorts or like 5 minute video formats. I really liked it, especially the black nitro cold brew
Conventions are good places. Sci-Fi cons, Retro-Computing cons, or Further Confusion in San Jose (or similar). There used to be a Nintendo kiosk in a local big mall that was always good for a Streetpass. I still use my n3DS-XL and carry it around with me.
I was at a retro gaming convention on the 21st and the 22nd and I was really surprised when I saw my 3DS light up green! Got two people on StreetPass at the convention. First time in years. Last time I remember getting a StreetPass notification was in probably 2016 or 2017 when I got a StreetPass with Brentalfloss! (Also at the same convention)
I miss Streetpass and Mii Plaza. I know it’s a long shot but if there ever is a Switch 2, I hope it implements some sort of Streetpass feature, seeing that it’s supposed to be a portable console
Even during the 3DS's prime, I found it near impossible to get streetpasses. But I think that was mostly just the area I live in. Hardly knew anyone who was into Nintendo, let alone owned a 3DS. Went to Disney in 2013 though and lived the streetpass dream. 100+ in just a few days. One of my favourite memories from the 3DS. I know it's probably not feasible, but I'd love to see some form of streetpass return for the Switch. Even if it's done via people you meet in online games rather than pass in the real world. All the minigames were super fun and collecting different miis and learning a little about them and having them help you in the games was a really novel idea.
Back in the days, I use to take my 3DS to work with my dad. We used to make deliveries to several restaurants. So I would get a ton of Streetpasses because a lot of people would take their 3DS to have lunch or dinner. Also, my mailman had a similar idea. He would carry his 3DS while making deliveries. And that's how he got Streetpasses. I would sometimes leave my 3DS at home and always return to a Streetpass from my mailman LOL
I really enjoyed watching this! It was a great vlog and I adore the friendship Krysta and Kit have with each other! Thanks for the great content that you two provide!
I cant believe you went to the hillsdale mall. I lived in the whole bay area my whole life. The thought of potienally seeing you guys is would be so crazy!!
Jon Cartwright’s vid inspired me to check for Street passes everywhere I go, and I’m happy to say I’ve gotten 3 street passes in the past month or so walking the streets of Tokyo. Even here it’s a rare thing to get.
I was working near Manhattan NY when I got my 3DS and I nearly had street passes everyday. Around 2016 I noticed that I was getting less and less until I had consecutive days with 0 street passes. On the Switch midnight launch I went to Nintendo NYC with the long line of people waiting to buy the system. I took my 3DS and walked by the line to take advantage of anybody playing 3DS while waiting on line and got 0 that night. That was the day I stopped using Street Pass.
I went on a 1000 mile road trip last month, making several stops. I managed to get two whole street passes! Man, I still enjoy this portable fun machine!
There will be a videogame convention at the World Trade Center of Mexico City on November 4, 5 and 6 of 2022. Maybe you can get some Street Pass Miis there.
I purposely walked up and down every terminal of the Minneapolis airport a few months ago and got no streetpass. One of these days though I hope I can. On a related note, Zion from Nintendo Life asked people to bring their 3DS systems to PAX at his panel so people can get streetpass. If only I could go 😔
Loved the video! I would love to see a rundown of both of y'all 3DS in the future if possible? How many hours have you spent on games? Have you made any photo's with your system and if so could we see? Maybe there are some hidden gems :)
I missed this episode since I watched everything in the Kit and Krysta super 64 playlist and this video is NOT a part of that playlist. Fun video, I love your videos and especially your podcast. It helps me be entertained on my commute to work.
I wish Nintendo would bring streetpass or something similar to their new systems (I doubt they can do it with the switch since it's been 5 ish years but they could probably do it with a future system). We need the streetpass mii plaza back
I like that 3ds city slicker from waterfield. Unfortunately I missed out on this item. I did not know about Waterfield during the 3ds days. Waiting for them to do a reproduction.
Brought my 3DS with me to my local mall and saw the Mario movie and I got a street pass tag from somebody besides my other 3DSs for the first time in 5 years! I am so happy
I love StreetPass, I used to take it to high school every day! I was lucky to attend a school that was located at the downtown area of the city, so I would get lots of streetpasses, even from tourists I even made a friend that way, from a guy from my school who also used to take his 3DS every day Such good memories :')
I've seen a lot of videos since the start of the year of people trying to get a Street Pass and strangely enough, the result at the end of the video is almost always the same. It's too bad because Street Pass was really unique and fun. I'm really disappointed that Nintendo didn't choose to bring it back to the Nintendo Switch.
Pre-pandemic, I would go to New York Comic Con every year and bring my 3DS to Streetpass. In 2019, I got all of 20 streetpasses over the entire 4 days of the con and I got no streetpasses when I went into Nintendo New York that year. That's when I knew Streetpass was officially dead.
this video honestly made me buy Mario Kart 7 for the first time today and got me to take my 3ds out with streetpass didn't find anyone but when i got back and tried the online for Mario Kart was shocked to see the online for it works and is quite populated
I may not have a 3DS, but I did manage to experience a handheld console without actually 3D. Hurts my eyes. The 3DS was definitely a good console. Imagine if I had a 3DS, maybe someday. Kit and Krysta with the ideas though. Running it back 💯.
3DS is still my favorite console and i use it to play lots of Atlus games lately! The most street passes I got recently were 2 on an 8 hour Amtrak ride from NY to VT
I miss street pass. I hardly ever got any near home, but I go to Disney world a few times per year and would rack up. It was so exciting seeing the green light. I loved the mii gardening and battle strategy games. Good memories 🙂🙂🙂.
My name is Thiago and I'm from Brazil.. Street pass was something amazing I remember when I went to the events here and I knew a lot of people because 3DS was an experience that I will never forget
I hope nintendo brings back streetpass for switch and for the 3ds. Idk why nintendo got rid of that, but if they revive streetpass, make it to the 3ds too. Im in tomodachi life and i still didn’t got any package/ explorer. Just my other 3ds spamming the same clothes.
The 3DS must not have been too popular in my area; I don’t remember StreetPassing with anyone in high school. I’d get a couple every so often in college. But on the rare occasion I’d visit Nintendo NYC or Disney World, it’d blow up. In the 7 years I had a 3DS, I don’t think I was able to finish any of the Mii Plaza minigames. 😭
I didn't use my 3DS too often but I made sure to take it with me on a few trips. I loved walking around the floors of the hotel and coming back to the room to find 10 Street Passes. Such a cool feature. Too bad they didn't let this live on in the Switch. Would be fun to connect with you guys.

I live fairly close to an airport and The Mall of America and sometimes go around them, but never get a streetpass!
I got one a month ago on the Toronto subway

The Mario Kart 7 segment reminds me of how great of a Mario Kart game that was, even if it's not quite as amazing as 8 or 8DX
Definitely feels a bit under appreciated at this point!
It’s definitely underrated, I agree that it’s not the best but it is definitely my favorite due to nostalgia

I wish they would bring back street pass! It was so fun to go around school and find I street passed like 20 something people. I loved collecting the puzzle pieces to!
I really miss the 3DS days. It may be due to me being a bit younger but I found more enjoyment in gaming during those days.
Why the Switch of all consoles doesn't have a similar system to StreetPass completely baffles me.
3DS is a very very brilliant console. Still holds its own even today. The last truly great dedicated handheld
It's a shame that there's not a lot of chance that we are going to see a feature like this in the future.
I am going to turn on my Street Pass from now on since you guys are like a few blocks away from me. I will be bringing my 3DS all the time
My most memorable Street Pass was during the Pokemon XY launch event at Nintendo World Store in 2013.
I remember in 2013 walking around my college campus and getting so many Street Passes. It was so much fun seeing new friends join my plaza.
Yokai watch 3 is my favorite 3ds game it deserves better
I made some noise about this on Twitter but I'm so glad you guys did this. Might be the push people needed to update their stuff and get carrying their 3DS around again!
I hoisted all this back on my friends and there's a good chunk of us who all meet up and StreetPass still and it's been the best. Hold out for that green light! You will make someone's day with it
I got a total of 7 or 8 StreetPass tags when I went to Walt Disney World back in May for my graduation trip. I'm really happy and glad to know there are still other people out there who also use StreetPass and their Nintendo 3DS in 2022!
During my high school era i used to streetpass 8 people at school everyday, i was able to complete almost every puzzle swap that way, great times!
I would love more SK&K64 moments. How about rating all the best dim sum places in your area?
You'll have better luck in arcades
The 3DS is still such an amazing handheld. Wish they didn't discontinue it.
Its such a Nintendo move to do that, shutting off the store and making physical copies skyrocket in price. Its sad and frustrating.
I have Reggie's real mii and his house in New Leaf. I got him once at Nintendo NYC back when it was Nintendo World.
Lucky!!
The opening and closing of those systems is such good ASMR
I remember I used to watch these about 6-8 years ago (it's been so long since then) and it really cool to see you too still having fun even after Nintendo minute
I frequently got streetpasses while on the highway. I'd take my 3DS with me often, so I'd have something to do in case it rained, or to relax with in bed (sleeping bag?) before falling asleep. It was always a treat to see a few new streetpasses when arriving to the campsite, just from people I passed on the road, or from other campers at the parks. :)
These vlog style videos are so much fun!!! Love it
That would have been crazy if they got one....wonder if Nintendo will ever go back to the street pass concept?
Hope so. I don’t know why Nintendo refuses to be quirky and creative lately
There was no feeling like seeing that green light flash when I was out and about. I crave that feeling again!
They need to bring back street pass
Conventions are good places. Sci-Fi cons, Retro-Computing cons, or Further Confusion in San Jose (or similar).
There used to be a Nintendo kiosk in a local big mall that was always good for a Streetpass.
I still use my n3DS-XL and carry it around with me.
You two have soooo much charisma and on screen presence, I hope you do this for years and years!
I just spent two days in London and got ONE hit, which was at the airport gate back to Dublin.
At Dublin Comicon this month I got 4!
I got my first tag in quite a while at a Comicon in Kelowna, few days ago too.
I still bring my 3DS everywhere! Streetpass was one of my favorite features
That was a lot of fun. Being from Oklahoma where everything is pretty spread out, I rarely got any street pass hits. :(
I love StreetPass, I used to take it to high school every day! I was lucky to attend a school that was located at the downtown area of the city, so I would get lots of streetpasses, even from tourists
I even made a friend that way, from a guy from my school who also used to take his 3DS every day
Such good memories :')
I can usually still get them when travelling, big train stations and airports are where it's at
I've seen a lot of videos since the start of the year of people trying to get a Street Pass and strangely enough, the result at the end of the video is almost always the same.
It's too bad because Street Pass was really unique and fun. I'm really disappointed that Nintendo didn't choose to bring it back to the Nintendo Switch.
I sometimes get StreetPasses when I take my 3Ds to my college campus to play during downtime.
Kit you’re 100% correct in that the Xiaolongbao should be eaten in one mouthful 🤤 Great episode!
Loved doing the street pass games good times. I always enjoy being at the mall.
I still use my 3ds often. Almost every night I like to watch RUclips videos while playing picross or Pokémon
Not enough time has passed to be nostalgic for Street Pass... and yet... seeing those giant 3DS' strangely had that feeling weirdly
I wish there was a Switch 3D... I miss the stereoscopic effect.
