The other thing I do is after adding the solution is ride around for a while to shake it up to clean the top of the tanks. Great video and thanks for the tips. 👍
Thank you!!!! I honestly thought you just put this is the tank and it made the water cleaner!! Like you leave it in not wash it through!!! Thank GOD! I haven’t used it yet but now I know how to use it properly 🤦🏽♀️
Hi Sam Great video, no problems with the audio. We also use the Puriclean sometimes using the liquid form. Just wondered if you also have an in-line water filter? We use a Pozzani IX600 which makes the water taste much better. We don’t then have to buy bottled water. Also the filters are large and a sensible price (£15) and only need changing twice a year. We also use an in-line 12v UV filter since some Germans we met up with got real sick in Senegal and we were drinking water from the same wells as them! At least the UV also kills the germs you can’t see. The carbon filter also removes the chlorine taste if any is left in after cleaning so win win! Got an exhaust temp gas sensor gone down now and it doesn’t want to come out without the threads from the dpf so share the pain you go through a lot of the time! Got three weeks to fix before trip to Paris so no pressure 😬. Keep up the good work 👍🏻
We have just done the same to our water system, we do this every season. Funny thing is, we just clean our out and did not even think that other people would not be doing this, but your right, not everyone thinks of this or even if they do think about it, still most likely don't do this. Great video Sam. Audio is great by the way, we use the same mics.
I fill mine with a bottle of sanitizing fluid from B&M it a few quid so I flush it through no issues.. definitely a must do with both tanks... great post it's sometimes the simple things people don't do
@@TheCraftyBlindersvanlife Mediguard it's in a 1lt bottle it's concentrated but I fire in the whole bottle fill a quarter tank & drive around to swill ...then pump it through the pipe work as you do...like you say smells like a swimming pool...also do the same as yourself, leaving it in the grey waste tank for a day...and all is well..I do it every trip if van has been sitting a week or two..overkill probably but at a quid it's easy enough
You can do it very cheaply. The way we clean potable water tanks on ships is using sodium hypochlorite (pool chlorine basically). You can buy it cheaply (5litres at 14% is about a fiver and will last ages). Dilute it down with water and leave for 48hrs and then flush it. Its called super chlorination.
Great video Sam.... was great to meet you at willowfields this weekend sorry didn't have time to say goodbye but the wheels were turning and we weren't stopping lol 👍 👋
just a tip from my days of being a tank liner and having to reinstate water tanks afterwards we always sprayed a solution of puriclean on to the walls of the tanks ,but being as most campervans tanks are very hard to actually get into it would be a good idea to fill the tank up as much as possible before adding the solution and letting it stand before flushing through the system ,puriclean is a very good product, as regards to the smell of it be careful when mixing it up and try to make sure you dont have any other products in your tank before adding it
I've only got a small tank that I empty every time we get back from a trip but the pump will still have stale water in it so thanks for the tip just ordered some which I'll put some old clothes on when I do it 😂more top advice thanks mate 👍ps the audio is spot on
Good timing - i had a 24L water tank for drinking water and water for a bike hose off system. Last weekend decided to split it to two tanks 12 litre for drinking water, and 12 litre for washing off bikes and dogs etc. That way - i manage the drinking water more carefully as last time i could smell dampness in the pipes - which was horrible. I have had Guardia before - you get that you never want it again
I just used 333ml of straight bleach to 1000 litres of water (3.5ml bleach to 10l of water). Then leave, then flush with clean water. Bleach is cheap as chips
Thank you Sam, for another easy-to-follow video on an important subject! If you do not use the water for consumption (drinking and cooking), then this sort of purification is the ticket. If done regularly, it should keep "the slime" - especially in the hoses - to a minimum. Looking at your jeans and the chlorine damage, wearing protective gear is probably a good idea. Do you have any regulations in the UK for draining potentially harmful liquids into the ground of your own property? Here in Germany they would pretty much lock me up and throw the key away...
