- The Clippers and Lakers play home games in the same arena, but use different courts, seating configurations, scorers tables and even basketball hoops, all of which will be switched out Sunday when the two teams play back-to-back at Staples Center.
Ever wondered how the Staples Center floor goes from a Basketball Court to a Hockey Rink on the same day?
The Los Angeles Staples Center is one of a handful of arena’s around the country that not only has a professional basketball team and a professional hockey team they have two professional basketball teams the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers so scheduling both NBA teams as well as the Los Angeles Kings

Oscar Arredondo cause there are enough building and owned land in the city already that it’s nearly impossible to get a new stadium deal and some owners can’t find or don’t want to pay for land for a new stadium
It’s the same reason the NYCFC plays in yankee stadium, land in NYC is so compact and dense it’s impossible to find land for a stadium deal

@Patoren 3gou - I know this comment is 2 years late, but actually the LA Clippers have been looking for their own venue in LA for years now. One particular quirky fact with regards to the LA Clippers looking for a new venue, is that the owner of the NY Knicks (James Dolan) has PREVENTED the LA Clippers from acquiring a venue that they had their eyes on, since doing so would impact another venue enterprise that the Knicks owner owns in LA!

You mean they have to change the entire floor for every Lakers and Clippers match? That can't make sense...surely?!!
I'm sure it's a hassle, but much cheaper than a new stadium, which these days would cost upwards of 300/400 million dollars. My guess is that the wood panels are attached with grooves.

They are scheduled on different days

If scheduled on same day, One will play earlier and the other on later time..
That’s just ridiculous so let’s say if the clipper have a game today and the lakers have to play in three days then they will exercise time and effort over and over, compared to the of the rest teams in the nba 😂😂

I used to think It was 2 different buildings mainly because of the lights. Why do they turn the lights off for the Lakers and leave It bright for the clippers? Lol the Lakers looks cooler
