Yes you can...I did that on 3 sets. Looks better than the standard black. Apply the black ...wait 24 hrs is my method. Do not need to wait that long though....a few hours at least. Duratex is the real deal. I also used it on the workbench as a hard top surface. It helped add new life to plywood that was stained and dinged from past projects. It's worth the money....very little odor to it as well. I hope this helps.
@@tjellis1479 I'm assuming you don't do the plastic bag treatment. But do you apply the duratex with a roller? If yes does the texture also "show" on the surface of the paint? Or, do you spray on the duratex to avoid the texturing?
@@jamespatton3958 Both methods-I've done. The textured look of orange peel and plastic bag....easily show when spray painted by your color choice. I rolled on Duratex...then sprayed Krylon colors by choice. Looks 98.2% like factory 😎🔊🔊🔉🔈
ALSO....to get the best look for the driver(cut out) area. Consider to Wrap each driver in plastic wrap(food saver stuff/shrink wrap)....then set driver in place as you roll on duratex nearby driver cutoffs etc This worked to limit the lumpy look near the cutouts and screw holes for final install. So yeah roll on Duratex onto plastic wrap....let dry for a few minutes....lift out driver...peel off plastic wrap.....BOOM....looks like brand new. I hope that make sense.
Is nice texture on that for sure on that paint you need one of those little spin dollies that you can spin it and turn it as you paint it instead of a block but that's my opinion lot easier to paint nice speakers though for sure have a good day God bless🙏🎼
If you grab the cabinet at the speaker holes you can do four panes in the first round and have the whole thing painted in two iterations rather than three.

I want to use Duratax on the Morel Ardon 2-way bookshelf kit on parts express, I haven't seen a review on the Morel Ardon speaker kit yet so I will wait on that.

Hi Danny, can you spray epoxy paint over the top of Duratec? I think a gloss red with the black drivers might look good.

Does this duratex stuff gum up sandpaper? Has anyone ever use a random orbital sander over Duratex?
not too bad.....it's like sanding plastic...you end up with plastic gray dust....air it off...keep going.

You can get Duratex is whatever color you want, they will die it for you. It’s the easy way to coat your speakers.
