Thanks man! It seems doing this also fixed an issue I was having on my 2016 RSV4 RF in race mode, where sometimes it would fail to start. My mechanic did this after noticing the problem when he was remapping my ECU for my Akrapovic exhaust. I explained to him that the problem proceeded the ECU update. He made this same modification to see if this would fix the problem. When it did he explained what the flapper valve does to me, but it didn't crystalize in my head until I watched this. This video was really helpful. I'm not the kind of guy that likes to do these things myself, but I like to understand what was done and why things work the way they work. BTW, he also said I could save some weight by removing the motor you pointed to under the faring that actuates the valve. After watching this I've no issue with that idea. I'll probably have this done when I get a lighter battery installed before track session starts up again this year!

Let the bass drop! Glad it has smoothed things out too. Nice easy to do mod.

sounds good, and I could be incorrect but I also believe a butterfly valve in the exhaust will also give some back pressure on the engine at low RPM's

Just got a 2013 RSV4 Factory, with austin racer g2pr, will there be any negative effects to doing this mod?

I wish my exhaust servo was in a good spot like on your bike I had to remove the cables on my Z1000 to install my new exhaust but everything is under the seat & very hard to get to.

Check/ask on Aprilia forums, and or ask a tuning shop. I'm in no position to truthfully answer a question like that.

ok but now what is holding the flapper open..i mean under hard acceleration it sounds like the exhaust gases are forcing the flapper closed by was of exhaust pressure???.

The butterfly spring is locked which is connected to the flapper & shaft. If the shaft and spring can not move the flap can not move as it is fixed to the shaft. There is roughly a couple MM of play in the shaft, so in theory yes the flap can move ever so slightly, but not more than a few MM if that. Hopefully that text can create a visualization. I should have showed that, but MEH =)

I dont think haveing the race ecu keeps the valve open all the time??

that sounds so much better. i truly dislike how brand new bikes have such quiet exhaust. I think its kind of dumb.
