Crazy that Sorcerer Supreme had been around for thousands of years and didn't notice Agatha especially when she first awakened her power that drained dry of her coven.
Has she done something, a/the sorcerer supreme would need to act or be on check. Seems like them, including the Eternals, TVA, have an "arbitrary" mandate, unless it's specifically this, we would watch the world burn even us included.
The Sorcerer Supreme is there to protect Earth from universal threats.
Why would she have wasted her time on a witch, when she has to deal with things like Dor'mammu ? 😂
I'm pretty sure this has happened because:
1) Marvel stuff is expensive to make
2) Disney supplements their budgets with investor money
3) Investor money hinges on "diversity and represention requirements
4) Marvel doesn't have a strong bench of "diverse and representative" characters and Disney didn't bother to set many up in the Infinity saga
5) Disney now scrambles to include as much as possible so they can spin those off and keep the investor money coming
6) Audiences don't actually want these things so Disney needs more ESG investor money to make each successive project

The reason they greenlit this show is because the song "Agatha All Along" went viral. That's it. They had an actress people liked in Kathryn Hahn, and a catchy tune that went viral on the internet.
And I'd wager that's why they ended up going with the title of the song for the show. I'd even wager they're putting the song in the title credits.
And if they had gone with a full-blown comedy, the series MIGHT have actually been entertaining. Even with the all-women cast. The cast is good to pull a good comedy. Aubrey Plaza, Kathryn Hahn and Patti LuPone all have good comedic timing.
Unfortunately, this is Disney-Marvel. So all of that will have been squandered with 90% certainty. I might actually check this show out. Not on Disney+. But...somewhere. We'll see.

Kathleen Kennedy and Disney cater to the 1% of fans for Star Wars and Marvel franchises and then blame the 99% of fans for being racists and sexists. Their strategy makes zero sense to real fans no matter your sex or race. It’s terrible strategy and writing.

If Disney had half a brain, they would still be making "The Owl House," an animated series about Witches. (But, you know, Disney is as clueless as Fox TV executives.)

In the comics, Agatha Harkness was a wrinkled old lady who was the babysitter working for Reed and Sue Richards of the Fantastic Four. She was also a sorceress, but always a pretty minor character. The new Hollywood trend is to take obscure Marvel characters and make them the star of a story. Madame Web in the Spiderman comics was also an old lady with spooky powers, and the movie made her a young woman played by Dakota Johnson.

The most telling part is the pathetic "Zinger" at 8:06 : "Who in their right mind would join Agatha Harkness' cult?" "I'm not looking for right-minded witches, as it happens." The fact they chose to put that in the trailer is very telling that they obviously haven't learned their lesson yet. It actually feels like they're doubling down with that.
I would be smart and start doing random superhero&supervillain “TV-1hMovie”. That way I can make sequels or not, without having to say the series is “cancelled “ when it’s bad.

I was somewhat excited when I thought it was a murder mystery and Agatha referred to Agatha Christie. I couldn’t care less about Marvel Agatha. 🤷♀️
I think people are mainly hating for the sake of hating. Yes Disney is the most woke of all those who are woke, but this doesn't look that bad. As for the name it was done for a reason. It was a promotion type thing. "Is it this? Is it that? No, it was Agathy all along!".
Thanks for the video... I think if they can keep the messaging and possible agendas, super low key, and have some excellent writing, dialogue, and character development then it might do alright... Most of these actresses I think have shown they are good at their jobs, based on prior works, and as long as they don't act as corny as Hocus Pocus, then it will help... I honesty get a Dark Comedy vibe from the preview, and we know most of these actresses have done will in that particular genre... It's going to be a crap shoot... I think we'll get a better sense during the first few episodes on what to expect... Right off the bat I would say this show is not going to be Kid friendly, since it includes some themes that parents will need to determine if it's appropriate or not... Which kind of on par for most Disney content these days... Parents beware...

Sadly, there’s so much in the comics that they’re never going to use in the movies. For example, Magneto’s two children Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch were midwived by one of the High Evolutionary’s human-animals. H.E.’s Mount Wundagore was affiliated with Chthon (Marvel’s version of Cthulhu) and the Darkhold. The Darkhold, in turn, was related to Marvel’s vampires (Varnae, Dracula, etc.) and Hannibal King, Frank Drake, and Blade. I can only remember Harkness as being hired to be the nanny of Franklin Richards, mutant son of the Fantastic Four’s Reed and Sue Richards.
Disney seems to want to become a knock off CW streamer. The Acolyte was trying to channel Twilight. And this trailer reminds me of Vampire Diaries & Buffy the Vampire type shows. This is not Marvel.

I get sticking 199%to the comics is hard and it doesn't translate well in live action. However we aren't even going to see any of that here.😔

I don’t think it will flop. I personally am not interested in it but I think the fact it’s a more darker horror series and seems to have nods to horror movies like wandavision had nods to tv shows. There is a market for it. I’m not defending it or shilling as some may respond…
It's always good when a disney product flops. So yes, i'm quite excited to see how this one goes. Hope they won't miss this opportunity to downgrade their usual quality standard even lower.
The thing about representation tho is that for all we know, the entire cast of a show might be gay already. Nobody cares about the cast's personal, private, intimate preferences, and that's due to a decades long fight for acceptance by the gay community. Blending in proves they were successful. So when people call for more 'representation', what they really mean is more overtly sexual g4yt content - even in shows that aren't about sex, which is silly and detracts from the movie. Someone please tell them that gay people aren't all hitting on everyone, or screaming their sexuality from the rooftops. The people pandering are just flat out insulting. The worst people are ALWAYS in charge 😥
Admittedly, female comedians are pretty popular, so Katherine Hahn will probably get some viewers. It is interesting that as soon as the character 'Agatha' was on screen, the Disney execs pretty much decided that she would have her own show. Not saying that she isn't attractive, but Disney is just so predictable.

"Money maker"? Did you actually say money maker with a straight face? In terms of comic books, Captain Marvel has been failing ad infinitum as a comic book (although comics themselves have been struggling....as opposed to manga which has been doing really well) and this character never even had her own comic book. Correct me if I am wrong but I recall her first appearing in the Fantastic Four as Franklin Reed's caretaker and then later becoming Wanda's teacher allowing Wanda to fully realize her powers. This looks like an attempt to spin off a whole series to appeal to who exactly? That same crowd who love the Acolyte (but seem to be making Bridgerton a hit). The real problem is that these projects take years to develop until they are finally shown....so no one back then could see this was a bad idea? Really, did they honestly expect the Acolyte to be a big hit? Why would they spend so much if they didn't? Is it all that DEI investment that really drives these decisions with no real goal of making money? That doesn't even make any sense. Could it be the audience they are seeking does not exist?

Wandavision was one of the better series, and Agatha was a good villain. If I had any faith in Disney/Marvel atm I would think it could be good, but unfortunately it will not.
I can remember not too long ago when there was only one gay character in Marvel comics, and that was a Canadian secondary character who no one cared about at the time. Fans were even in an uproar about that.
Am I the only one thinking that all the different names being announced was a conscious decision so that it coming out to have been "Agatha All Along" all along (see what they did there?) would be a cute inside-joke? Seems pretty obvious to me ... I have no special hope for this series, but Wandavision was pretty cool and I'm gonna give it a fair chance. I see no point in people getting all upset about the names.
