I've found when traveling it is best to bring a white gi. I showed up in a blue gi at a very traditional school and you'd think I walked in with 2 heads . They had a gi I could borrow so it was no big deal just a little awkward...
My favourite is my old Atama gold weave but my Mizuno Eurocomp was my 2nd. That thing was like a led vest. I think they aren't allowed in competition anymore.
I hope you don't plan on competeing, in BJJ tournaments they only allow these 3 colours white, black and blue gi. If you're just training any coloured gi is fine if your school allows it. In my school they only allow the traditional white gi, black or blue.
Ryan, could please make a video whether people can learn Gracie Jiu Jitsu or BJJ if their underweight, anorexic or extremely weak it would be very helpful
I'm about to begin learning BJJ and a brown belt friend of mine guided me through getting my first Gi (materials/brands/appropriate colors) and I ended up getting an Albino & Preto that fit me perfectly! I'm so stoked!!
My biggest frustration in starting jiu jitsu was probably trying to find gear that fit to train in being a fat, out of shape guy. It's definitely a barrier, especially to those with low self esteem and confidence from their physical condition. I don't have those problems, but I know it is a problem with getting some of those people to even consider trying jiu jitsu. Ironically, GB says "jiu jitsu for everyone" but you have to buy Their gear and it probably won't fit those larger people looking to make a lifestyle change.
No, I did not start at GB, although my first school was a former GB affiliate/lineage. Jiu jitsu was a natural choice for me as I used to wrestle. I am still an athletic big guy. I just wish those fatties looking to get in shape would try jiu jitsu vs some chain health club. So much more beneficial IMO.
@@KamaJiuJitsu I'm a tweener lol Don't think I am quite an H yet, maybe 20 more lbs. fatboybjj.com is where I get my gi's. Do you address that? If it matters I'm an A4 long in pants, but the A4 jackets are very tight around my torso and leave red marks in my arm pits from friction (with a shirt on under).
