I've been researching some stuff on moon phases, and this as been one of the best if not the best explanation on tides & moons, thanks alot buddy, subscribed, best regards from Portugal, Europe
Great information! As a father taking his kids out to get the same experience and fun catching fish as I had growing up it has been really hit and miss with our outings. I look forward to putting this information to work in getting the most out of our experiences moving forward. Thank you for your efforts in putting out this video and for your generosity of your fishing wisdom!
Hey Nick, Just wanted to say "thank you" for the great info! I've always been a hit and miss fisherman until I watched this video. I put your info to good use with the new moon and starting fishing at first light - so far I've caught five rainbow trout this week! Much appreciated!
Oh Man I LIKE your stuff !!! Thank YOU! I have been a fisherman my whole life and I LOVE it, and yet here I am learning even MORE from you. Thanks so much for sharing your skill and knowledge!!
I went crappie fishing at the marina docks the last two nights during full moon and now I see why I didn't get one bible.. They were all in the shadows feeding. Your video make so much sense now Iand I feel like an expert now.. I understand now how to catch those crappie... thanks man...
Thanks nick that helps me alot I have been studying the phases and have been asking nature myself instead of going by major feeding times and minor feeding times graphs on the internet , and you have explained the things I couldnt quite put together myself , but I have been catching more fish knowing my phases of the moon now, thanks nick the informative fisherman you help alot brother ,
Caught my first fish out of Lake Cumberland in ky. Also my first sprite and my first fish on a crank bait. we have been out 20 plus times and this has been the only fish we have caught. Hoping to put some of these tips to the test soon. Thanks.
I'm new to fishing so I'm still learning tides weather and moon's. Thanks soo much for making me understand in a simply way haha I thought there was some scientific explanation but you made it sound simple 😂👍🏽
At your opening statement: Catching fish is only 50% of why I fish. The other, possibly more important 50% is to be out at the beach, the river, the lake, the bayou...just to be outdoors. Being there early in the morning or late at night...it's a timeless feeling. Your explanation of feeding times makes a lot of sense I will keep it in mind. I've had good luck in the California mountains fishing during high-tide times even though the nearest beach was a hundred or more miles away.
Really enjoyed your clarity on the subject! Informative and concise presentation beats out involved production and video editing any day (or phase of the moon for that matter) in my book. subscribed!
awesome vid! well spoken and very informative, not sure if it was windy there at the time or if its just me but there seems to be a lot of blinking going on haha
Loreto Cotino the cold northwestern winds also because the cold water brings in warm water towards the banks where feeder fish go therefore salmon and walleye feast!
Been fishing for 40 years now and at least 30 of those I've been night fishing. I live in Florida and I couldn't disagree with you more. I have caught 90% of my 10 plus lbers near a new moon. I cannot stand fishing around the full moon and I have friends who share this opinion. Bass are not blind on a new moon and there senses are heightened. They can see your bait just as easily as a person can see once their eyes get adjusted to the dark. There down there looking up and its much darker where they're at vs the sky background. You should try laying on the bottom of a pool at night looking up and it would become very evident.
I am from dammam Saudi Arabia , if I check many fishing forecast website it's suggest night around 2am which is okay but same day second best time it suggest is around 11am to 1pm for high fish activity which is peak high temperature in day time in Saudi Arabia around 45 degree and more UV .can u explain it why
Your explanation makes sense, but what about countries far up north, for example where I live the sun barely sets during the summer, should I just ignore the moon phases?
There are tons of controversial theories trying to interpret hundreds of factors. And every single theory said it is true. Just assuming one of them is right, other should loose their apologets. And everyone could have one clear app in the smartphone. Solid like calculator. Everyone tells about moon, sun, air pressure, wind, temperature, clouds etc. but nobody can say for sure if tomorrow there will be good or bad fishing day.
Hi Nick, thank you for the really nice explanation on this video. Everything you said makes total sense. I was wondering if clouds affect the moonlight that fish can see. I mean, if there is a full moon but it is very cloudy all night, should I fish like I would on a new moon? I’m going for big and old trout on a lake that is not stocked at all, so is really hard to catch em. Any advice would be very appreciated.
If more light is put out at night by the moon your saying fish later the next day and Vice versa for a moon that puts off less light fish earlier. Would it be safe to assume you would be able to adjust your fishing time by how much light is put out. Example if moon is at 65-75% you would fish a little earlier then dusk. And if moon was at 25-35% you would fish a little past dawn? Thanks
Question: you may or may not be able to answer... just throwin' it out there... When fishing at night, if you're wearing a head lamp and keeping the light focused on your lure as you retrieve it, do the bass get spooked out of biting from the light/light movement?
What about extremely stained water systems were visibility is always in inches, like the San Joaquin river? Would the moon phase still have the same effect? Thanks
I wonder how lakes with a lot of houses on them that have dock lights and other lights affect the fish? Does this affect them and throw them off from reading the moon??
Hey man! I do not doubt for a second that fishing is much slower during fullmoon, but shouldnt this apply for midsummer aswell then? Atleast here in northern Sweden where its sunny in the middle of the night. They're still hungry as hell in the daytime 😄
Ok here's a tough one, every time I try to catch zander (european walleye) I hook pike. I'm struggling from September last year now, and what makes it even more difficult is that the bottom of the water is covered in weeds...
I've been researching some stuff on moon phases, and this as been one of the best if not the best explanation on tides & moons, thanks alot buddy, subscribed, best regards from Portugal, Europe

Loreto Cotino the cold northwestern winds also because the cold water brings in warm water towards the banks where feeder fish go therefore salmon and walleye feast!

I think heavy cover more often if it’s available

This is a freshwater fishing tutorial Bubba. I’m looking saltwater tutorials!!! Thanks

BonafideBassn'
Yes.
In general, using a bright light on any fish will usually surprise them.
This is this my 3rd time watching this, I'm still trying to learn more about this.
Write it down the end notes of his sentences, full moon, minnows feed heavier, flies small baits more reflection
Ya know simple things to note
What about extremely stained water systems were visibility is always in inches, like the San Joaquin river? Would the moon phase still have the same effect? Thanks
If it's consistently muddy yes
So as far as UV is concerned does that mean a cloudy day or slightly cloudy day would be good for fishing as well?
Can you give us a better understanding of where the bluegill and perch travel throughout their warm June days and nights?
What happens in between, new n full moon
What if full moon is on and is cloudy?
I wonder how lakes with a lot of houses on them that have dock lights and other lights affect the fish? Does this affect them and throw them off from reading the moon??
moncorp1 no it may disturb feeding times etc but the moon and sun have a stronger pull on the fish
Brother thanks :) really helpfull, and guess what im from greece and know one pay attetntion on moon phase's. great video.
thanks awsome advise
have you ever had any luck with a uv lure on a new moon?
What do you when the moon and the sun is Visible at the same time during the day
Hey man! I do not doubt for a second that fishing is much slower during fullmoon, but shouldnt this apply for midsummer aswell then? Atleast here in northern Sweden where its sunny in the middle of the night. They're still hungry as hell in the daytime 😄
What about clouds on a full moon?
great video, can you do one on high and low pressure systems!?
+teamv1ru5 I have one called conditions and elements, thanks!
Great vid, just the part that fish are full, fish never stop eating, but their mood do change
So basically, During fullmoon times, nighttime is best and during new moon times morning is the best. Right?
I have faced no bite whatsoever in the new moon I am fining in Red sea and i do fishing in ear and mid day only
full moon good for shallow fising (strong smell bait), diving, spearfishing, camping and BBQ..
good info
thanks
Thank you.
Great
Ok here's a tough one, every time I try to catch zander (european walleye) I hook pike.
I'm struggling from September last year now, and what makes it even more difficult is that the bottom of the water is covered in weeds...
Do moonrise and moonset times matter?
I'm in visioning my self at a marina fishing from the bank at a rock wall on eagle mountain lake
Does this apply for saltwater fishing too ?
Very good question! !!!!!
Of course as the moon alters tidal patterns, which pending the species you're after, is crucial
Great vid!!!! Why did it take so long for me to find it??
