The best time to go fishing is early in the morning and in the evening. Think of yourself, you're hungry for breakfast and hungry for dinner. Lunch is whatever is available. You will go out of your way for a coffee and and a pizza. Same for fish. The moon thing makes sense. Full moon means more light and available prey to see. Good video.

Of course this is all a general theory, and i fish behavior is still affected by local weather conditions, and other factors. Sometimes this works, sometimes not. The best time to go fishing is whenever you have the chance to go.

I fish clear water and I will let you know fishing during the day generally stinks because they feed heavily at night. New moon is the ticket however. Great stuff as always I love the science.

Just stumbled onto your channel from youtube's recommendations, and have really been enjoying the Fishing with Science series. As a Biology major and a wishful veterinary school prospect, I find this series extremely interesting. Thanks for posting these, and looking forward to watching your videos, both new and old!

Years ago. In -Fisherman’s magazine (( when radio tracking technology stared )). In -Fisherman scientist captured some large female Largmouth bass inserted the trackers in them let lose. What they learned about some of those big bass that most of them home ranged And when during full moon 🌕 periods these bass would spend all night cruzing the outside edges looking for food. You mite still be able too find that article even tho was quit a few years ago.

Day in and day out, the major period is the best time to catch fish. Yes, local weather can and does affect the bite, but the major periods rule 4 to 1 in a years time. The major period is even more a factor in tidal waters.
