    Look at those hordes of women helping.

    • @gryphons.5604
      @gryphons.5604 9 лет назад +14

      ***** you are the type of person that, if the women did help, would claim that now women are trying to be men. You sound like a Men's Rights Activist. Aww, did mommy not love you enough? It must be upsetting to you to live in the 21st century!

    • @smellyfish36
      @smellyfish36 9 лет назад +134

      Nope, im a guy who can't see any women helping. You seem more upset than me.

    • @TheGothims
      @TheGothims 9 лет назад +20

      ***** Well, I see ONE woman who's standing there because she's holding a freaking baby. I see another standing there who appears to be older and her husband already went to help. I see some others who just got there and don't really know what's going on, and mostly I see thirteen men already handling the situation. Maybe don't be so much of an ass? The ratio of men to women on the beach is already about five to one, so chances are the men are going to be in the water. Were it a crowded beach, I'm sure there would be plenty of women jumping in to help. I would, for example. Now go back to looking at pics of areolas since you didn't come into contact with any when you were an infant.

    • @smellyfish36
      @smellyfish36 9 лет назад +57

      Lilly Prince You seem a little angry, maybe I struck a nerve. I have no problem with women and although you think you know about my relationship with my mother based on 1 comment, I have had an excellent upbringing. Sorry for being a realist, but in general women don't take action in situations like this, they tend to call people or request assistance. I'm not going to insult you, because I dont need to.

    • @TheGothims
      @TheGothims 9 лет назад +6

      ***** Someone's stuck in the 50's! I see you don't spend much time around women. That's quite telling.

      Besides it being obvious, ask any marine biologist or marine rescue facility. A lot of people think its the right thing to do, but its not. They need help when they beach, plus dragging them by their peduncle/flukes can dislocate their spine and kill them anyway.
      www.deafwhale.com/
      "Whales do not die because they are stranded; they are stranded because they are dying! Pushing ill or injured whales back out into deep water is feeding sharks, not rescuing whales. We must know why whales strand themselves if we expect to save them."

    The dolphins are fishing. They use this technique to corner their fish on land and then slide back to sea with the waves. But this technique can at times get them stranded. But maybe they took a bigger risk by going even further to land knowing there are humans there that will help them back. Clever dolphins haha

    • @lasialuv4679
      @lasialuv4679 4 года назад +29

      I learned about this in one of my biology classes. It’s a phenomenon that happens when a child within the group of dolphins or whales dies. It can be considered as a sort of funeral procession suicide out of grief. They aren’t fishing, that would be a lot more coordinated and they wouldn’t fish on a beach with so many people.

    first i would like to ask where was this ? the dolfins were hunting and the head of the pack miscalculated the depth of the sand to the water ,you can see dolphins hunting like this inline the orcas do this as well and are in the same family as the dolfin.this is a hunting tactic just goes to show there are no more fish in the sea ,our trophic system has almost diminished by 2050 there will be bottom feeders avail to eat ,serious we need to help our fish population by not over fishing if every country doesn't fish each qtr of the year for one day per qtr we can replenish out oceans and give the fish time to spawn

      Gabriel, I agree with you. We need to do something now if we want to save our ocean life. If we're constantly taking from our oceans, we're not going to leave much for them. There really should be more laws passed on how much fish us humans can take. If not, it's going to be too late to change things and make it right.

    Массовое выбрасывание на берег характерно только для китообразных (дельфинов и китов, реже морских свиней). Мы можем говорить о массовом выбрасывании, когда два или более животных (мать с детёнышем мы считаем за одну особь) выбрасываются на берег на территории одного географического региона за время одного приливоотливного цикла. Причиной этого обычно становится целый комплекс различных факторов. Общим для всех подобных случаев является то, что дельфины и киты, как и человек, - животные социальные, и безопасность отдельного животного неотделима от безопасности всей группы - это вопрос выживания. Такая «коллективная ментальность» очень помогает животным, находящимся в открытом море, но поблизости от берега, к сожалению, она может привести к массовому выбрасыванию на берег совершенно здоровых животных. Когда один член группы заплывает на мелководье или выбрасывается на берег, вся группа может последовать его примеру.
    Другие факторы, способные привести к массовому выбрасыванию животных на берег, включают нападение хищников, сложную топографию, изменение уровня воды во время приливов и отливов, природные катаклизмы, геомагнитные аномалии, использование гидролокаторов и другого акустического оборудования. Сотни лет киты и дельфины массово выбрасываются на берег в районе Кейп-Кода. На основании этого мы можем заключить, что современная человеческая деятельность не является основной причиной данного печального явления.
    Социальная структура:
    Большинство видов животных, выбрасывающихся на берег, обитают далеко от прибрежной зоны и живут группами. К сожалению, социальные связи, которые так помогают им в открытом море, поблизости от берега могут сослужить плохую службу и даже привести к гибели. Эти животные всегда держатся вместе, и если один член группы заболевает, ранен или теряет ориентацию в пространстве, в результате чего выбрасывается на берег, вся группа может последовать за ним.
    Хищники:
    Учёные и исследователи считают, что близость таких хищников, как акулы и касатки может стать причиной того, что морские млекопитающие приближаются к береговой черте, где рискуют оказаться на отмели.
    Сложная топография:
    Животные приближаются к берегу в разное время года. Их может сбить с толку сложная система узких проливов и похожих на рыболовный крючок отрезков суши, таких как, например, Кейп-Код (штат Массачусетс). Они становятся для животных настоящими ловушками. Одна из них - например, залив Вэллфлит, находящийся в районе Кейп-Кода. Такая сложность местного ландшафта объясняет тот факт, что 60% всех случаев выбрасывания животных на берег в районе Кейп-Кода происходит именно у берегов Вэллфлита. Исследователи также обнаружили схожесть грунта в разных точках земного шара, для которых характерно массовое выбрасывание на берег морских млекопитающих. Во всех этих местах имеются пологие песчаные или илистые берега или отмели, которые, возможно, отрицательным образом сказываются на способности животных ориентироваться в пространстве.
    Экстремальные колебания уровня воды во время приливов и отливов:
    Массовые выбрасывания животных на берег нередко совпадают с фазами новолуния и полнолуния, которые влияют на приливоотливной цикл. Чрезвычайно сильные колебания уровня воды в полнолуние позволяют животным во время прилива подплывать к берегу ближе, чем обычно. Соответственно, во время отлива они часто остаются на отмели. В заливе Вэллфлит, например, в полнолуние колебания уровня воды могут превышать 3,5 метра.
    Природные катаклизмы:
    В штормовую погоду при сильном ветре может возникать так называемый «нагон воды» или штормовой прилив. Животное может подплыть к берегу слишком близко и остаться на суше, когда вода спадёт. Считается также, что такие погодные условия могут нарушать ориентацию животного в сложных прибрежных районах.
    Гидролокаторы и другие шумы антропогенного происхождения:
    Для ориентации в пространстве многие дельфины и киты полагаются на звук. Поэтому искусственные подводные шумы, вызываемые, например, работами по разведке нефти или применением гидролокационного оборудования, могут привести животных к дезориентации в пространстве и, как следствие, выбрасыванию на берег.
