I think that Martin Freeman's casting was one of the worst things about those films.
Definitely. He's the best of the Hobbit movies. The whole cast was incredibly casted. Armitage as Thorin, Pace as Thranduil, Balin, Dwalin, etc.
Polemics aside Tauriel was perfectly casted for what they had in mind. Kili for instance wasn't what it should have been, in my eyes at least, but that's more of the character depiction more than the actor.
Eddie's story was already interesting, and Anna made it even better. She was right. Lots of failures people don't talk about...
Ah well, he has an Oscar now. 🤭
