I liked it before I saw it! The best kit ever made in my opinion! I love how the toms fill a room with all the beautiful frequencies ever imagined. I always tell people get an old MC for a thick and hearty maple, get a MC Absolute with die cast hoops for the if you want something that resembles and out performs a DW collectors maple kit, get an absolute hybrid if you want a little more bark out of your thin maple shell kit, OR OR OR get a Phoenix if you want the sound of drums that come from heaven! I believe the Recording Customs were blessed by god himself and the phoenix’s were designed by god through a Yamaha drum designer. Not to sound weird. Yamaha drums or nothing for me. No offense to anyone. I just love them! 😊

Please don’t take offense to this, but how come the best kit ever made in the history of the world (The Phoenix) not have its own snare? All the other kits do. Correct me if I’m wrong, but it’s the only kit y’all ever made that doesn’t have a snare. I think about this quite a lot and the only answer I could come up with is our ears aren’t worthy of something like that. It’d literally blow our minds! Well anyways LOVE everything y’all make and if you don’t see this it’s ok! I’ll never stray from Yamaha drums 😊! Curiosity just got the best of me! Yamaha or nothing!
Amazing Craftsmanship. Beautiful. Are all Yamaha drums being made in Japan again? The ones I see in the shop are Made in China, or Made in Taiwan. I hope that all Yamaha production comes back to Japan.
Only the PHX series drums are made in the Japanese factory now. All the other series are made in China. But that does not mean those drums are less quality. I own a PHX (Japan) and an Absolute Hybrid Maple (China) kit and they are both incredible. Flawlessly built and amazing sounding drums.
As of March of 2023 thee only high end kit you can 'order' right now from Yamaha is the PHX. Try and order a Recording custom or Hybrid maple lol, made in China folks and yep, you can't get them because of China drama and the shipping drama. Yamaha should have stayed in Japan charged more and be able to ACTUALLY produce a set of drums. Think i'm kidding? Call up your favorite drum dealer(s) and ask them, "hey I saved up all my money by working hard would love to order a new set of Recording Custom drums from Yamaha." Good luck with dat!! "CHINA" lol "ahhhhh Yamaha is not taking new orders *right now.* "

10.3mm. They are the thickest shells of any Yamaha kit.

Dont order them. I was told 1 year wait , now its been a year and there telling me 1 more year + 6 months
