Your video is amazing, me and the kids enjoyed it and wanted to know if you had a video which shows how to add a motor to the ROKR Marble Night City LGA01 as thats the one we have and would like to modify it like you have done, also to add some lights to.
Hey, aww thank you so much, I’m delighted you all guys enjoyed it 😊 And unfortunately there wasn’t a motor for the Night City and I never customised it for a motor because the link pack came out and it’s now connected to the spaceport so I won’t be able to customise it, sorry. But you could try yourself if you wanted to 😊
@MartinsAssemblyHaven thank you for getting back to us. I may try and see if I can use the motor and options you have linked to and see what happens. Also need to make a belt and cog.
I just have one question. Your new motor (with higher torque), seems to me, that it may grind up and destroy parts of the gears/link shaft if the model runs jam up due to marble flow, etc. You addressed that but what if you are turning the kit around or walk away from it where you cannot grab the motor control fast enough? I think the motor should have a tilt release not glued solidly down like you did. Any thoughts?
Hey, Yeah it possibly could break teeth on the gear, but if it had a release it might not run at all and keep coming off all the time because the kit needs quite a lot of power to run at decent speed. My only suggestion then would be to not walk away from the model and just watch its magic happen. I’m sure there’s ways to keep it from breaking anything, but I’m just unsure what is that way.
Another quick question Martin, can you get away with just the upgrade motor or do you have to have the speed controller as well? Sorry for all the questions but I thank you for all answers.
No no don’t you be sorry, just ask whenever you need to 😊 And that really depends on what type of motor you are using. If the motor has high RPM and is like a 9V-12v motor then you might need it because once you attach it to power, it might go really fast/too fast. So you’d need to find that perfect motor speed really that doesn’t need to have its speed controlled.
Thank you so much for that, it’s really appreciated and I’m really glad you enjoyed it and found it helpful 😊 Fingers crossed your one works well once completed and don’t forget to share it ⚙️
Hi Martin, I've just put the large belt on and the tightness just pulls the gear really off centre. I checked on your construction of night city and you had the same issue. Is it me or was this section a really bad design. Going to do what you have done and move the gear further in, maybe they should've gone with the metal rings like in the link set.
Hey Steven, yeah I think the design wasn’t the best when both marble runs are connected. As a single model is great, but the 2 together not so much. And I don’t think metal rings would make much difference as the whole side that the belt sits on should be redesigned.
@@MartinsAssemblyHavenHI have ordered 2 miniature bearings that fit the internal dimensions of the frame and the thickness of the rod. Going to replace both sides, this should also stop the issue of the belt pulling off centre. I'll let you know if it works
Great work. I tried your links to order the parts through those links. But the motor shows as unavailable for US addresses. Perhaps because you link to Amazon Uk. Any chance you can provide links that will help you and be available in the US? Thanks and best regards!

I watched your video with the standard motor and you said it was way to slow but it did work. Wouldn't the weight of the steel balls still fall into place as they move around and work like it's supposed to even though the gears run a little slower. Honestly I don't see how the gears spinning faster would make it run any smoother. I'm still waiting for the addon kit to arrive and I will definitely be watching your video's during the build. I'm not sure I'm smart enough to modify the kit like you are doing so I may be stuck with original pieces when I get started. One thing for sure, you just got a new sub, I appreciate the time you take explaining what you are doing and hoe to do it.
Hey, thank you for watching it and thank you very much for the Sub, it’s much appreciated 😊 So the existing motor does work, but it is far too slow and it takes ages for the steel balls to travel up and then go down, and to make the gears and the whole run smoother I had to align bits and also superglue some pieces in place to stop them from moving or displacing themselves and I also waxed everything really well and honestly it runs amazing now and is very smooth 😃 And I hope you enjoy the build once you get the kit and you do t necessary have to modify it if you’re happy with the speed and power it produces 😊
If you’re planning on connecting the existing motor to mains, I would definitely not recommend that. The best you could do is attach a 9V battery to it to make it go faster, but that will eventually burn out the motor as the existing motor is only like 5V and then you’ll have to replace it.
No no, I mean how do you connect the new motor to the mains. Did you take the wires from the old motor and hook it up to the new one so it has that little connector on the end?@@MartinsAssemblyHaven
