Have tried many types of string, but always go back to the original RPM Blast. Strung to 25kg in Yonex Vcore Pro 97 330g. Perfect balance of power and spin
Playing tennis takes on a new dimension with RPM POWER. It's the greatest evolution in tennis strings after the appearance of the gut and copolyester. It's a type C copolyester that does not require pre-stretching (it is stretched at the factory) and whose maximum recommended tension is 23kg (25 has Thiem, but he's a professional). It has a high playability and maintains tension excellently. It allows for very high effects, facilitating topspin and under spin. The contact and connection with the ball is maximum. The gut and nylon strings also needed to be repositioned with the fingers, and it wasn't a problem; what's more, in some cases, it's a great way to stay focused during points. Dominic Thiem really uses it, and we are talking about a tennis player who has the best Babolat technology at his disposal. He switched from gut with RPM Blast, then colored versions of the same string, and finally opted to use experimental HEAD string to get his victory at Indian Wells (defeating Federer). After that, he gave the step to RPM POWER and has not taken a step back, obtaining the best sporting successes from him and his first Grand Slam. That string does not need to be edged to produce the highest Revolutions Per Minute, as can be seen in Thiem's beastly way of powering the ball now, who actually uses that string (The fans should be grateful for that). I have visited the Babolat string factory and had the string used by Nadal in my hand. When it was yellow, he used Babolat Duralast (Moyá also in another color). On the yellow string, it was printed in black PRO HURRICANE NADAL. That yellow string had no edges and produced a beastly effect, thanks to the fact that the polyester grabs the ball on contact and makes it rise very easily. The problem is that it loses tension and playability in a very few minutes, with the aggravation that it is very hard and causes shoulder injuries in the long run (Nadal and Moyá were affected). Later another black string was created for Nadal, but that is not RPM Blast. That string of Rafa, has RPM NADAL 1.35 written in white and has no edges (it is cylindrical and does'nt have eight faces). That black string is no longer made of polyester, but of copolyester, which is a material that reaches more speed, and arm friendly. According to the technicians who make Babolat strings, using 8 faces on textured strings is the best option. Profiles with fewer edges (4-sided or 5-sided), facilitates the topspin effect for amateurs, but sacrificing precision. It is because those geometries (4 or 5 faces) at the time of stringing can be more or less twisted. This greater or lesser twist can make the edges more alive or less in some areas of the string bed. Those textured strings are only valid for amateurs, but the professional cannot depend on these random variables.
Like rpm blast 17 with my aero - works great, lasts ages, arm friendly enough as long as it's not too tight. Actually sticking to a string saves money too as you can buy a big reel for half the price of single use packets and then get your local works-out-of-his-house cheap stringer to put it on - don't need to go somewhere fancy.
RPM power is actually a very good poly when used in hybrid. Enables you to hit all out with very solid control and no fear of hitting the fence. Excellent when playing against strong 5.0+ advanced players. It does not work that well at all however if your swing is slow or the rally speed is slow. It demands you to hit hard and when you do it shines.
How do u use it in a hybrid? I’ve been looking at this string and there’s a mix of people saying use alone or hybrid, most people saying use alone.... Curious how u have it in ur set up? Mains or crosses? What other string do u use with it and what tensions do u find best? Thanks 😊
Your theory is correct. RPM Blast is just black Pro Hurricane Tour. It felt different and people loved the black strings so they spun it off as a separate brand
I just love the way you explain things! Thank you! I watched your video where you talked about "recommended string tension" and the possibility (which most can't even think about... I sure didn't!) of using out-of-range tension to perfectly match our own swing/style/age etc. After foolishly stringing my ProKennex Kinetic Pro 5G at 65 lbs (against Swetka staff member's warning), I lost all the "feel" for the ball and only recently did I string it at 52 lbs. It's playing much better. If only your video showed up a few days earlier, I would have chosen 46 lbs to account for my age (loss of strength). Oh, well, I will cut the strings soon and do what you recommended in your video. I'm ecstatic I found your channel at last! Better late than never!
Is Forward slash Tennisspin /, this is backslash \ Hope you got some free coffees. I'm a big fan of RPM BLAST ROUGH. It is very spin friendly and most people complain it isn't soft or lack control. So I string them at 58 main and 55 cross. This help with control.
2:49 Have to say I'm not a fan of the way they brand the strings, the packaging looks way too similar they need to distinguish them better, even if they have different colours on the word control, max, power etc. it would help.
This is a great case to all studying consumer marketing and business mgmt. Babolat product marketing team managing the string portfolio shud be all sacked. It is obvious the current team does not understand their role at all. "Confusion" is the last thing any company wants to be said of their product portfolio. Harmonizing is great when done right. It is not the case here.
Yonex adds silicone oil to grommets to assist string movements. What happens when you spray silicone lubricant on the string after a string job? Do you get more snapback, assuming it does not come off too easily?
If you have a heavy recquet above 310gr, dont use rpm power spin, most probably the balls will fly higher and hard to control. I switched to rpm hurricane with 24 tension and all is fine now. My racquest is babolat pure aero tour.
I was telling stringers 20 years ago that colored string reduces elasticity. The darker the most affected. Its called filler in the industry. However, some players want a less elastic string.
Hi, thank you so much for your videos, lot to learn from you! My son has been playing for couple of years with RPM blast 16 G at 55 lbs tension. He has some pain in arm, so I have decided to further reduce the tension and offset it with more spin friendly strings such as rpm rough but I want to use it in hybrid. So please advise which string will be good option to combine with rpm rough ?
Im just starting tennis again with the pure aero and rpm rough and blast. I like the rough 1.3 more. Any inputs? I love topspin and live on the baseline the most
Bought me a pure strike 16x19 3rd gen and I’m trying to find the perfect string to my game that is in the middle of a spin and flat. I actually tried the rpm pwr and love it, it soft and gives me a good spin. I’ve tried the babolat origin (that didn’t see in the video) and it’s very soft but doesn’t gives the spin I need. So Im still gonna try the rpm rough to see how it fits in my game. Could you make a video comparing RPM Rough vs ALU power rough? Which one gives more spin / control / better feel.. tks!
When I googled rpm team, it says its very stiff and very controlled. One of the stiffest offerings in babolat line. Is it stiff and controlled or is it a soft co-poly? Can you guys confirm?
10:01 "Routines Per Minute", lol what? Also, "Spin Control", "Spin Power", "Spin Max" are not the names, they are just properties of the strings. The names are in the top right corner, RPM Blast, RPM Power, RPM Rough. Not complicated at all.
@@chocbox same as you. unpredictable, poor control, poor spin, bad playability in general. Worst string I've played (I tested about a dozen different strings including top brands like luxilon, babolat, solinco..). Don't know why babolat comes up with this string. My favorite so far is Gamma jet 17G but its playability duration is kinda low, only good for about 12hr then drop slowly. So still on my journey to find a great string with great tension maintenance. Do you know of any string like that?

I've use rpm power once, paired with my PURE AERO . I bought it because it was a special color. But it sucks. Couldn't feel any spin on the sting because it is a "round" string
Man you have to do your homework. Rpm team is one of the stiffest strings out there according to tennis wearhouse database. Rpm power is made of nylon. What are you talking about?! Really annoying that you don’t verify your content
