Predator 459cc Destroys CVT ~ 420cc VS 459cc BTS

- Today we show you behind the scenes of the 420cc vs the 459cc video. We had to do a lot of work to the buggy to get it ready for the comparison. We swapped out the live axle for a fresh one. We also added 14" chrome wheels & 23" tires. Once everything was installed we ended up destroying a 40 series cvt by kicking the chain.

Ohh....oh DANG! OH MY GOSH!!!!! Love the reaction ramping up as he realized how bad it was LOL!
I wish the Reversed gearbox was listed in the parts used even though it really wasn't that thing looks full great video
Exactly
Me too! I decided to stick with a 212 just so I can do the Fwd/Rev down the road...a 40 series compatible gearbox has been vaporware as of late...
Finally someone's making a better reverse gear box
Awesome vid. as usual. Thanks for all the great info and entertainment over the years. That left front wheel sure had some wobble, and I'm guessing it's the tie-rod end.Glad to know you're rebuilding it.Have fun,and GOD bless you and your family too, along with all the viewers as well.
Can't wait to see more in the reverse gearbox. Liked this video too.
Thanks for all the great content
Glad you enjoy it!
When are you going to do a build on the predator 459cc
awesome work on the carnage
Maybe take that test frame and build a wrecker boom onto it, to tow back broken carts from the woods.
Soon time to change your name to GRAY BEARD'S GARAGE😂
Yeah hey weres Lonnie??? That boy is slacking on the builds or is just not there..,, It takes a heart to stay with some thing like this…. I love you guys I learn alot and love the kart builds ya’all do but man Red Beard some body other than your wife
Should have your back in the shop damn I’ve got nobody just can’t get started I guess I’ll shut the hell up great job Sir..,,
Shane
I need some help 😆 That was hilarious AF 🤣😆
I'm coming to Turkey bay. I'm bringing my yard kart and my heating pad.
Hi Red Beard Garage
You know it's serious when Lonnie calls for (Greg).
awesome vid brother!! look like the kart took a hard hit on that run,,,, but itll buff!! keep up the great vids!! PEACE!
Got a link for that reverse box got a 440 that needs one
"Ya know, when in Rome?" Huh!?! lmao
No shot out on the gearbox? Plus I'm still looking forward to a phone call. Either way nice work again can't wait for the next upload.
When will the new reverse box be available?
Inquiring minds agree i got a hopped up 440 that could use one
Man, that chain kick was nasty.
Need to add a transmition for the 40 series torque converter. Been looking for one for a 40 series torque converter.
That’s a crazy chain jump!
To love the wheels for sure 😊👌 cool stuff guys 🎉🌟 from cruzermans inventions
I've been waiting for that gear box
We NEED the reverse gearbox info!
Instead of welding your sprocket to your axle still use a key but substitute the weld for two double split shaft collars welded to the sprocket hub so everything still removable what you think??
My build is powered by a Duromax 440,which would break one of those small keys in a minute. my solution is to use an axle wheel hub with a one inch bore and a key way. Knock out the wheel studs and drill the flange to fit the sprocket. Now you have a heavy duty sprocket hub with an almost 3 inch key way.
@@kwatt-engineer796 I use manco 7/8 hex axle. no keys :)
I went with the Blast LED 40 series. Wee bit pricey, but its stout like Guinness.
That gearbox is gonna sell like mad. Where do buy take my money
This was always one of my favorite builds. Such a bitchin' go kart.
P.S. An extra jack shaft or a spring loaded idler or dropping the engine down a few inches might help you problem
Id call those outer axle bearing supports
i have the same buggy since i was a kid
I liked it, thanks.
Any damage to the engine's crankshaft? It stopped quite abruptly.
How about a link to the seat you've used?!
where you get the heavy duty reverse gear box what is the name brand
I will be VERY interested to see what you do with the new reverse gear box. I just discovered the existence of these after I purchased a Polaris Trail Boss transmission to make a reverse gear for my Duromax 440cc. kart build. It's a bulky build since the transmission has to be mounted separate from the CVT. The bonus is that I get 2 forward speeds . Low range will make a great rock crawler.
Would you have a link to that new gear box for 40 series gear box all I'm finding online is one for 30 series
@@jamesbryant7355 Here i the link to the 40 series gear box
@@jamesbryant7355Try using a search string " 40 Series Reverse box " You may find it that way
@@kwatt-engineer796 there is no link have tried to search it that way nothing comes up for 40 series just the 30 even go power sports nothing
@@jamesbryant7355 Sorry to be so cryptic but I used that string in Google and it went directly to the transmission. The exact link I posted earlier was deleted. Try b=l=a=s=t l=e=d.
Is there a link for the heavier reverse kit? And can you do a 40 series torque converter with reverse or are they independent systems?
where is the black smoke buggy
Chain tensioner would be lots better! Use one out of a car or truck and adapt it with sprocket!
I think part of it was that 459 torque
What's up red Beard
You showed the new gear box but there is not a link to it have been trying to find one of those for the longest time that will handle the 40 series converter
Well when is the reverse gear box coming out cause I need 1 for my 459cc hopefully it will handle the power cause I already running the 780 clutch cause mine turned the 40 into major carnage after I tried to get into it pretty hard about 3/4 throttle by the way had to use the 55lb valve springs cause it tried to float the 50 lb ones at almost full throttle and 60 mph
Mind sharing what all you did to it to make that kind of power? I have a 459cc Aswell gonna but it in a custom drift kart
@@tonymartinez5302 did the 65lb valve springs, port and polish the head matched the intake and the exhaust, and put a 308 cam removed the governor and installed a 34mm flat slide carb from ebay
Where do you get your seats from?
When are yall going to start on the 999cc vtwin?
Be nice if they warrantied stuff like that. $369 is a lot for a CVT setup
What would happen if you put two torque converters in a row off of single engine would you loose power and speed or gain and yes I understand you would have to make a jackshaft
Do I need to have a 780 Torque Converter on the Predator 459 or will the 40 Series work?
Where did you get the cvt for the predator 459
Where do I get one of those fancy gearboxes
?

What tooth sprocket you using?
Gregg did you send inbox messages out or was it a bot? In video before this video.
It was not me.
@@RedBeardsGarage Thanks. It had your avatar, but that is easy to use.
I have the 459 pred on a 40 series, and it looks like the driven clutch isn't expanding all the way; maybe halfway of what it could move. Is this an issue of the ratio of the sprockets after the cvt? Does it want to supply more torque to fully open up,or more speed? Engine speed is at full throttle. I'm not sure what could be the issue and just jumped in blind on a project.
It's powering a Kawasaki mule, with a 10t front and 48tooth rear. I'm planning to put a 20 tooth on the rear, because by my count, I'm at 30 spins at the 10tooth to 1 spin at the wheels right now and get 7mph lmao. I don't need a speedster, it's a work vehicle but...
Ha ha the kid's hated that when the chain would do that. So that is why i use belt's and they work way better.
Hey i been trying to contact you guys!!
Hello Red Beard. What's the difference between red and yellow springs in the driven pulley?
