I conducted a funeral this week and this was one of the lady’s favourites. She was 92 and loved this song. You and your music have a massive impact on people’s lives. X
I closed my eyes, drew back the curtain To see for certain what I thought I knew Far far away, someone was weeping But the world was sleeping Any dream will do I wore my coat, with golden lining Bright colours shining, wonderful and new And in the east, the dawn was breaking And the world was waking Any dream will do A crash of drums, a flash of light My golden coat flew out of sight The colours faded into darkness I was left alone May I return to the beginning The light is dimming, and the dream is too The world and I, we are still waiting Still hesitating Any dream will do A crash of drums, a flash of light My golden coat flew out of sight The colours faded into darkness I was left alone May I return to the beginning The light is dimming, and the dream is too The world and I, we are still waiting Still hesitating Any dream will do
Thank you for taking me back to the late 1980s New Zealand, when life was much simpler and kinder to 7 year old me. Thank you so much for what you’re doing for the world, especially now. Take care.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. My daughter is 28 and about to be married. When she was a newborn, she had a bad time with colic. This song was so comforting to our daughter and to us!. My husband would put her in a tummy hold on his forearm and bounce her to the rhythm. It brings me such tears of happiness. Thank you so much!
Written many years ago but still an all time favorite and still gives me goose bumps.Thank you for all the happiness you have given me for so many years. Good music feeds my soul and I am profoundly grateful to you.
Sung along with it, although I did the choir part as that was the part I sung in the professional production as a child. What great memories this brought back 🎶❤️
I really really love this ❤️ it is so beautiful. Makes my heart sing, and at the same time, looking back at the world with a sense of nostalgia as we navigate through these hard times, with hope at the end of this. Thank you Andrew Lloyd Webber, for shining your continuous light. The world is brighter with you in it. Much love ❤️
So incredible. After watching the rebroadcast of JCSS on Easter night, it was a joy to discover this #composerinisolation series. A talent for the ages.
I had the most wonderful opportunity to perform this song with the off broadway company at the Fox Theater Atlanta when I was in middle school. This song literally makes my heart burst and I always reminisce on the smell of dry ice whenever I hear it! Your music brings me so much joy! Thank you for these in home performances during this time!!! ❤️
I love this. I had not seen this musical. It is absolutely amazing. It has become my favorite. Thank you so much for all you are doing for us in our isolation. I couldn’t be any more pleased. You were so young when you wrote this. I cannot imagine how you did it. A genius!!!

19 Years Later on the 8th of May 1987 I would Be in CATS as Little Joe, I was 10, Miss Guynema Lowe was our Director and Choreographer. The Following Year She did Starlight Express, I wasn't a Train but I AM A JELLICLE, I Didn't want to do Starlight Because I was Suffering from Performers Burnout, From Doing The Elves and the Shoemaker, OUR 4th Grade Christmas Pageant, Being the Play write for Popcorn, based on the Book by the Same Name, and Rehearsing CATS, ON TOP OF ALL OF THAT, TO BE THE FINALE OF THE YEAR. At the Age of 10, you could see why I took a Break Sir Andrew. I did Buy Tickets to the Show, and I Liked Starlight Express.

Great song! Did you write the entire light opera of Joseph at 19? It has been so fun to see all these musicians in their homes...the main corner being the piano...as it was in my grand parents farmhouse and as it is in my apartment.

OMG!!! A concert by Andrew Loyd, made my day😀. Thank you
I Just Love Him !!
I closed my eyes, drew back the curtain
To see for certain what I thought I knew
Far far away, someone was weeping
But the world was sleeping
Any dream will do
I wore my coat, with golden lining
Bright colours shining, wonderful and new
And in the east, the dawn was breaking
And the world was waking
Any dream will do
A crash of drums, a flash of light
My golden coat flew out of sight
The colours faded into darkness
I was left alone
May I return to the beginning
The light is dimming, and the dream is too
The world and I, we are still waiting
Still hesitating
Any dream will do
A crash of drums, a flash of light
My golden coat flew out of sight
The colours faded into darkness
I was left alone
May I return to the beginning
The light is dimming, and the dream is too
The world and I, we are still waiting
Still hesitating
Any dream will do
