Shuichi Ikeda probably has to be one of my favorite Anime voice actors, besides playing Char Aznable, he has this cunning in his voice that makes his characters sound more badass.
It feels like at some point they stopped having Shuichi Ikeda voice certain characters, but instead, make characters for him to voice in any way to reference himself and or his roles with backgrounds. One really hilarious example would be using "The Red Comet" and "Akai Shuichi", mixing his name and "red" in it. There's another anime called Tenjou Tenge where Shuichi Ikeda also has a role in, but iirc he didn't get all that much screen time. Still neat. (for the gundam guys, imagine char talking to judau)
Fun fact: the author of Detective Conan actually made the character of Akai Shuichi with Shuichi Ikedai in mind and he insisted they get him to voice the character in the anime, and that’s exactly why he gave him the same name too

Funny fact is, the one who took over the role of Scorpio Milo from him is Toshihiko Seki, the voice of SEED's Char's clone - Rau Le Creuset and Durrandal's believer - Rey Za Burrel

You know, considering the akai word in the moniker for Red Haired Shanks, I wonder if Eiichiro Oda used the akai concept from “Red (akai) Comet” Char Anazable from Gundam, like how Gosho Aoyama used the Akai from Char for Shuichi Akai for Detective Conan. I wonder if Ikeda was actually meant to play as Shanks if that was the case, like how Gosho may have meant for him to play as Shuichi Akai with Tooru Furuya meant to play as Rei Furuya/Amuro Tooru (Amuro Rei from Gundam).

Kinda something related to it, but in one filler episode of Naruto, there was a character whose voice I instantly recognized; Kazuya Nakai (Roronoa Zoro). That voice is definitely distinct, especially from badass characters.
