I started on Social Security after I turned 70 and when I filed my taxes, I found that the Government wants me to pay 30% of it back to them as income tax. So, don't think it is free money.

On the thing of social security, yes, if you are forced to pay into something, then there is an argument that you have a right to expect that back. That's a separate issue from it being bankrupt or whatever retirement means for one's purpose, those are separate issues.
About social security please remember the millions that die before ever collecting even a cent. Of my 5 core family , 3 died before collecting any. Social security is an insurance contract. We pay and the government uses it and at retirement age they pay back with interest.
They pay back with interest, but where does the interest come from? The government doesn't make money, it levies taxes. The interest comes from more people paying for social security, which is by definition a Ponzi Scheme, which is economically unsustainable. So the government must print more money for itself to make up the difference, and everyone loses because of inflation. People enrolled in Social Security thereby also lose wealth because inflation outstrips the interest. They would have been better off just saving money for retirement themselves, but they weren't given the choice because Social Security is mandatory. It is a garbage socialist program antithetical to free market economics that makes everyone poorer, except the government.
Everyone who wants to get their own bag before the Ponzi scheme destroys the entire country.

-I'd save Hiterally Litler, because some people would still follow Stalin.
-Save pulled pork. Yummmm.

-Twister. Just a classic.
-Ocarina, even though it's the worst mainline Zelda title.
-Raptor. Weeeeee!
-Pratt. We all love Pratt. But he can't do Mario voices because Mario is gone.

-Stephen King. One of the first authors I read.
-I'd save Mario Brothers but it doesn't exist, remember? I wish we could keep the Depressed Star though.

-Board games. That would include Dungeons and Dragons.

-Indoor plumbing. I don't want to live like I'm in Russia.

I choose Maxim Gorky. 6'4 Russian/Soviet writer with high, jutting cheekbones and a deep, powerful voice. No wonder Russians still admire him to this day. And he can save us against A.I replacing human art and creativity.
Social Security is a prepaid retirement program, not the government doling out free money. I paid social security all of my life toward that. If I live to 86 years old I will get that money back minus any interest. It is a little late to change that now. Unless you want to pay that back in a lump sum and call it a day.
The most fair thing I've heard is to allow all currently eligible people the option to continue or not and not offer it to others. It'll almost certainly need supplementing, but it can stop without messing over the people who've paid into it already.
I like that they unanimously picked Ocarina over Mario and then picked the Mario Movie over Sonic Movie, even though they'd never have played a Mario game to have liked Mario in the first place. C'mon guys. Seems inconsistent.
Maybe They should raise the age for social security retirement age by 4 or 6 months every calendar year, phase it in gently.

That's how they get you. Just plan on government taking it away regardless, like through inflation, and plan your own retirement just in case.

So you're going to evaluate how a senior spends time? Spare me. Make a deal, and don't steal from it once committed, but skip the righteous tone on how someone spends their time.
But the "deal" is completely unsustainable. I've paid into SS for over 20 years, but am not expecting much by the time I can retire.
It is a ponzi scheme, plain and simple. We can keep burying our heads in the sand until reality clocks us upside our collective heads, then the austerity measures hit.
