In regards to Kristian comment about Blue Beetle, I believe Gunn said that Blue Beetle is supposed to be the first DCU character introduced, but Superman Legacy is going to be the the first DCU film to kick things off. That to me just sounds like Gunn really likes Xolo and wants to bring him and his character over to the new universe.
Exactly! Blue beetle is a movie made from the old dceu but since it doesn't make any connection and is pretty standalone, it's easy for it to fit in the new dcu. Superman will kickstart the new universe with Easter eggs and references to the other characters in the dcu. I heard the authority is rumoured to make their first appearance as well.
@@prathapkutty7407 Yeah there’s this weird thing going on with people who say they’re confused by that, but it seems pretty simple to me. Gunn is going to use the character from the film, but Superman is the first film in the new universe because everything else coming out this year was under different leadership. It feels pretty simple to me lol
Aw man Roxy - you are such a good example of how to be a good friend. Your enthusiasm and questions about how Shoes & Beef and the book came to be were so sweet, supportive and genuinely positive, Kristian - As someone who wants to create things, and hasn’t yet, it was inspiring to hear you describe how S&B came to exist in the first place and finally was created. Can’t wait to watch it!
Said it before and I'll say it again, when Roxy's on with Brett and Kristian, it's like two older brothers giving her shit. Not that she doesn't give it back, but I can see Roxy's soul leaving her body and that soul rolling her eyes when Kristian or Brett goes 12 y/o humor on her. 🤣
The Flash SPOILER Comment: I enjoyed the Flash but I think that there a big hole in the plot regarding his Dad's conviction. If the only thing needed to exonerate him was proof he went to the store, then what the tomates and the receipt from the purchase? Not to mention the clerk who sold them to him? Plus even if the video didn't show his face it was a man which his height and build wearing the exact same clothes the Dad was wearing when arrested.
This new guy seems promising Roxy! L.A. men seem to be trash so someone not from the area seems like it’ll work out well for you. You deserve someone just as awesome as you are!

That Arnold documentary you recommended is also on my list. As for separating art from the artist, I don't really have much of a problem doing so, but it's a case by case basis. Unless someone's done something beyond redemption, I can deal with it. However, I do want to see that person trying to better themselves, though. And I'm very much looking forward to your interview with Amber Midthunder. By the way, while I'm thinking of it, has Brett mentioned anything lately about his daughter's acting career? He hasn't said anything for a long time on here or back when SEN Live was still on, so I was curious.
Hey Kristian, I understand what you are saying about rotten tomatoes. I think that for people who understand how it works though, it's actually very helpful. I see it as "What are the odds that this movie is going to be worth my money?" Like if I see something on there that I'm not excited about with a 90%, I understand that it may not be the best movie ever but it's probably worth my time. If I see something that I'm really excited for with a 20%, I will still see it but knowing that it is divisive and it doesn't hit with a lot of people. Hope that makes sense. Love all your shows!
Oh I hope that you watch Silo Roxy - it's really impressing me so far. The series is challenging and makes you pay attention without becoming impenetrable or wackadoo like say, the last few series of Westworld. It's an easy recommendation.
Watching the Rosenbaum interview Gunn didn’t actually say that Blue Beetle was the 1st DCU film, just that it’s detached enough from what came before and could fit nicely unlike Aquaman 2. Superman Legacy is really the epicenter of Gunns direction for the universe.
I am always impressed with how outstanding of an interviewer Roxie Striar is. She asks such great questions, is always engaged and focused on the answers because she truly wants to understand. She is easy to talk to and she knows when to jump in with another question if her subject is slipping off task. She does it so effortlessly that it feels so natural.
Great ep. Kristian and Brett, camera 2 on Roxy (and Steph on Wednesdays ep) is focused on the bookshelf so the human in front of it is slightly out of fucus. Not a biggie, just noticeable and I wanted to let you know.
Watched the flash last nite….and I have to say I really fkn enjoyed this movie. I smiled through the entire film. The story was done well, the acting was great, I loved all the nostalgia and history incorporated into the multiverse. The cgi wasn’t that bad, it made perfect sense to me the way it was done. I don’t get all the hate this film was really fun.
Separating art from artist works to a degree. Can you do that if it’s Woody Allen making movies about having relationships with young girls as a 40 yr old man? Prolly not. Is it possible if the movie’s gaffer turned out to be a serial killer. Prolly. Some critics may go in open but end up spending too much time with Miller that they decide their presence ruins the movie. That’s completely fair.

Depends on the art, the artist and the accusation. Ezra is just the actor, he’s not the creator. His ideas, beliefs, politics, etc therefore aren’t present in The Flash. But The Mists of Avalon for example, which is a fiction book that has some dodgy ideas around pedophilia, on its own might seem outdated and creepy but when you find out the author was a raging child abuser it completely changes the narrative around the concepts in the art itself.
@@similarrose5811 Right. If the art is flawed/questionable, you have every right to critique it. What I’m saying is that the artist’s personal life shouldn’t affect one’s grading of the actual product. For example, Kevin Spacey is a piece of shit in real life but I can confidently say he delivers brilliant performances in films like Se7en, American Beauty, The Usual Suspects, etc.
I had no problem doing it, seing as he played three distinctly different characters. As long as they pay society back for the wrong doing, I have no beef.
For those that want to see the Flash more power to you but I just cannot support this film financially. It’s a moral step too far for me. The way the entire situation has been handled makes me sick to my stomach.
Michael Keaton’s return as Batman was something I could not pass up , that being said The Flash was all over the place. It had the elements to be good but for me it just did not work and fell flat. 6/10
Some of the worst cg I've seen in a film like this, a version of Barry Allen who I just didn't enjoy to begin with, major characters who were just extended cameos and what felt like an extremely slapped together ending... If it was just one or two of these things, I might be higher on this movie. But when the negatives just stack on each other, I just come out of it feeling like it was a pointless mess. This isn't the worst DCEU movie but the bar is so low that that's not even saying much.
Hope for the flash spoiler review you discuss the differences you saw between the cinemacon version and the public released version. Went to it last night, and regardless of how you feel about Ezra, it was an amazing movie
@@Seacai150 that was me for the 1st 2/3rds of the film. That 3rd act did draw out and get a bit wild for me. I rated it 4/5 on Letterboxd, though, because most of it was a solid comic book movie. @@jordansmith906 I was 15 in 89 and Batman was the first true superhero movie I remember. So it hit me really hard when he showed up. Otherwise you are a top movie critic and your knowledge of Star Wars is amazing.
For the most part I usually can, but in this case it’s even worse because I find to Ezra to be one of the most annoying actors on the planet. I can’t stand their mannerisms or cadence or energy at all and I think they’ve been wildly miscast since the very beginning. I’m basically going for Keaton and Affleck and to see this person I’m not familiar with as Supergirl. Other than that I have basically no expectations.
Gotta give credit where its due. Ezra was actually awesome in the movie and i hated his portrayal in Joshtice League. Much better in ZS JL and great in this movie. One should def be able to separate artist from the art. I have accepted and enjoyed Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman even though shes a muslim baby killer and Zionist. The most ridiculous and hypocritical scene ever in hollywood was when she was saving muslim kids in Wonder Woman 1984, i chuckled at the irony of the scene but i separate her personal choices from what she does on the screen. Seeing so many critics slam the movie just because of Ezra's real life actions. For me the movie was a 10/10 but if you're not at least finding it entertaining and enjoying it somewhat, you're watching movies wrong and I feel bad for you.
I don't think Roxy is right about writers not even being able to write things for themselves during the strike. Kevin Smith and Marc Bernardin did a whole episode about the strike and Marc said that they could definitely write stuff for themselves if its not for a studio
The question is: Should we? We have the Star of this movie doing terrible Things to people. We have a Studio, that did nothing about that. Nothing! Should we support this? How will the people feel, that had to suffer because of what Ezra did to them, now seeing him on the big screen of this huge Blockbuster. Its bad. I will not support this movie in theaters. They just dont earn our support, and I hope, most people will not support this one. I am not saying: never ever watch it. Wait, until the dust has settled and watch it at home without big buzz. Let this movie tank at the boxoffice. That is how I feel. I know a lot of people that want to see this movie are mad about what I think. But I would say, that means, they agree.😊
I'm a die hard fan of the flash literally my first comic book character I fell in love with. The Movie was trash sorry but it was the CGI mixed with an over cocaine use nostalgia one waited for a flash movie since I was 8 I'm 40 now and they ruined the greatest story the Flash ever had. CW show had the real heart of the character, was completely missing in this movie
Yes, I can separate the art from the artist, but I still found myself to be quite bored for most of the first hour and a half. Most of the gags didn't hit for me, and the opening seemed intelligent until it clearly wasn't. Loved the last hour though. Wouldn't pay to watch it again.

Roxy is eye candy for me 😁
I don't think Roxy is right about writers not even being able to write things for themselves during the strike. Kevin Smith and Marc Bernardin did a whole episode about the strike and Marc said that they could definitely write stuff for themselves if its not for a studio
Holy shit. Paxton is waaaay older than her. Google it Roxy. And think back how old she was in season 1. Loved the show anyway but…. Another woof.
But I would say, that means, they agree.😊
serious question: what's the difference between shoes & beef...and bobby & the juice?
Not if it means they protect him. If I knew they were just trying to make their money and then release him, I’d be willing to support it.
I always separate art from artists. But unless Jonathan majors gets shown love I won’t show love to Ezra
To be fair I'm pretty sure Gunn said Blue Beetle is the first DCU character and Superman is the first DCU film
