    Great tutorial! I just finished replacing the pads & resurfacing the rotors on my '18 GLA45. A few steps that should be mentioned: 1) Always resurface or replace brake rotors when changing pads. 2) Apply a light smear of anti-squeal paste to the back of the pads where they contact the piston, and 3) Bed the brake pads in after installation: 5 hard brake applications (45 mph - 5 mph) followed by 5 moderate brake applications (35 mph - 5 mph). Then drive normally for 5 - 10 minutes to allow the brakes to cool before coming to a complete stop.

    This video is money in the bank. In 2020 MB charged me $1,300 USD for front pads and rotors. Bought pads from MB online for $266.62, which included tax and $19 for shipping. (Was going to buy them at the dealer here in town but at the counter the prices was $368. Did the pad install this past weekend. I don't agree with kingsalami142 regarding surfacing or new rotors with new pads if the new pads are the same as the old ones. Definitely agree with the bedding in. Thanks for this well done video.

    Hi Tony, thank you for this video. Thanks to your explanation, I saw how I could renew the brakes on my car and felt confident that I could do it myself. However, I had difficulty disengaging the electronic parking brake. I kept getting the message "does not meet system requirements". I started the car and put it in neutral and turned off the parking brake. Shutting down the engine and then following the procedure you described worked. My GLA 45 is a European model from 2017. Maybe that one thing is a little different? Anyway, thanks to your video I was able to do everything myself today. thank you!

    Very helpful video. I’m gathering parts from FCP Euro. Are you sure about there being two sensors as they said it’s only one wear sensor in the front.

      That's right, I just had the 1 wear sensor on mine. Thanks for watching! Hope it was a little useful.

    Did you loosen the cap on the master cylinder before using the clamp on the rear pistons?

      We always do - there's some conflicting info out there about this car specifically, but we did yes 👍🏼

    Do the front break not require a c clamp for compressing the pistons?

    Got a part number for the front pads? Really would like something dustless but not sure there is anything out there for the fronts (there are for the rear).

      Aside from a simple ABS sensor failure, the car has had no issues at all! If you get on the GLA45 Owners page on Facebook, there's lots of great info available! I'd opt in for a 2016+ car as some nice updates were made. Thanks for watching 👊🏼

    Off topic but I see you have wheel spacers, what size and how long of a wheel stud?

    • @TonyMaples
      @TonyMaples  3 года назад +1

      Spacers are 10mm and they came with longer studs. I believe the shank length on them was 40mm. Thanks for watching 👊🏼

    For the rear brake pad replacement, can’t you just disengage the electronic handbrake having the key ignition to ‘ON’? Instead of doing the menu steps inside the car?

    • @MMCPN
      @MMCPN Месяц назад

      No!! Doing it with the cars computer winds it all the way back, just disengaging the hand back does not…
