Bernie is such a beast on drums! I remember being blown away and loving drums even more after seeing him play with Brian Setzer!

Just a quick note to let you know how much I’ve been enjoying these clips. Superbly presented. Much appreciated. 👌🏻🙏🏻

Such a class act. I was fortunate to see him with big phat band and a Latin ensemble at Musicians Institute and was blown away.

Love it Bernie! Keep the vids coming, it’s an education to learn how you do what you do. And an education seeing you play 🥁🥁🥁

Really excellent video. In all the years of watching jazz ride videos I have never heard the idea of a down stroke for the quarter note. Most commonly you see it demonstrated as a bounce. In his example the quarter note sounded more focused without the wash of the cymbal that came with the open bounce stroke.

Excellent. By "little note' did Jimmy mean the skip beat? Same thing?

So, then moving to the high hat, is the accent still on one and three, or does it shift to two and four?

I love driving pro tools engineers crazy with tempo discrepancies!! 'It's Off!! It's Wrong!! NO It's working within the Same Pulse. NO Our music and my drumming has an Ebb And Flo Sir. Your click track doesn't jive with how I play. Trust Me I've been doing this since before you were born OK?! Ha!! Cool Vid Mr. Dresel.
