psychowsky - Argonauts (Modal Electronics Argon 8M Test)

Cobalt's sister looked a bit sad sitting alone for days, waiting for some quality time :) So I had to do another "study" track and put Argon to the test too... All sounds, were generated using the said synth, including drums and SFX.
Like with "Kobaltium" some effects processing like dynamics & eq was done using third party plugins like Arturia FX Suite and the Softube effects from NI Komplete.
Compared to Cobalt, Argon leans more towards the Wavetable sound synthesis. However like cobalt there's a twist. The two WT oscillators besides having scannable wavetables, have each its own modulators, while there's also an "Osc Modulator" , which acts like a cross modulator (the one oscillator modulates the other).
The filters are morphable just ike Cobalt, which means that each setting can morph to a different set of types (like from LP24 to BP12 to LP12). To top things up there's a distortion effect that is dearly missing from Cobalt and adds a lot of byte to the sound. On the other hand Argon is missing a third LFO which the Cobalt has, but Argon's second LFO can reach audio rates, which none of the Cobalt LFO does unfortunately.
In reality Cobalt and Argon have each their own personality. I love their sound and the workflow that each one has to produce sound. You design sounds partly with the way you already know from other synths, and partly experimenting with the device specific functions, and this is something that I've grown to like!

Hahahha... That's more or less my story... I bought the Cobalt first and I regret that I was not able to get Argon too, because the shop where I bought it, had them both in great deals.
