Have you used Alsa or Pulse ? Did you modified your ".asoundrc" and "/usr/share/alsa/alsa.conf" file. I'm trying to use built-in card as output and USB-mic as input. I had tried modifying the ".asoundrc" . Using "arecord" and "aplay" i'm able to record and listen. But the bot.py doesn't seems to picking it. I mean the Interface did shows listening but it seems Mic is not working. Kind of confussed, what am i missing. Btw i'm still using Alsa. Appreciate your help.

Random brainstorm ideas you don't need to take seriously but just putting it out there.
Can it connect to a health info from apple phone or fitbit and do things like: update me on exercise or check my sleep patterns and play soothing/wake me up music. Or (gosh forbid) period reminder.
For Calendar or Appointments, I count down clock on when I need to leave the house updated with traffic would be nice.
Auto flip/mirror videos, so I can copy make-up or dance choreography. A studio size version of this could be a cool virtual dance studio.
Sorry, these ideas aren't universally practical.

    • @bittertea
      @bittertea 7 лет назад

While I appreciate your response, those apps already exist. Thanks for contributing though. (This reply is kind of a lot, you don't have to read. I am just explains my reasoning for wanting these services.)
I guess I can use my cellphone, but something about my cellphone with all the e-mails and notifications become cumbersome. I don't get to access the apps I actually need. It's become more bloated then my desktop. (My fault probably). I think the positive thing about a dedicated device like this mirror is the fact that it is separated from social media, e-mail, text from your friend or whatever that has creep into taking up so much of your time/life. There is a simplicity to it.
For me, once I leave the house, I drive straight away and do not look at my phone so I don't look at my phone until after I park and maybe not until like 10 or lunch. I am just thinking what things I need to do but generally forget to do in the morning. Because it's the morning, we are kind of groggy and it takes me like 1 hour at least to way up, especially if I don't leave the house. Generally, I forget something and it's hard for me to get into a good habit. Habit making is hard and I get easily distracted.
      Things I want:
Time to Leave but Before you Leave Checklist->
-Your phone is still in your charge... go get your phone (happens all the time).
Exercise->Like you have time, go do some ab exercises and stop watching youTube.
Clue Intergration-Oh your period might occur-Better put those famine hygiene products in your bag. (Happens once in a while).
Sleep Patterns->You are to damn sleepy and have impaired judgement. Don't drive, grab an uber (for this much money) and sleep in the car. (Okay, maybe not a good idea).
Really sucks when you've forgotten, your phone, lunch, feminine products or you don't regularly exercise.

I just watched a video yesterday where you can get the google assistant exported as a .json file which can then be ran on the raspberry pi pretty much flawlessly. I was thinking that if I build a magic mirror that I'd try to implement that into it. Also considering that some of the mirror stuff in the git-hub is JSON too it shouldn't have a problem running it.

Sanji445 you might be able to repurpose an old laptop display. I've read about reusing them but haven't tried it.

i used an old laptop screen but the contrast sucks so you can see the screen behind the mirror

I'm considering trying a super simple version of this with an old AMOLED phone just showing a big clock and local weather. No coding required and it could sit behind the top corner of the mirror.

At 0:21 it appears your AI has an avatar. I'm curious, how did you design and code it, the avatar that is?

DId you create the actual mirror or did you buy it ? I've been looking for a mirror with camera and display capabilities. Could you perhaps point me in the correct direction?

To your knowledge, has anyone wrote the script to make this work with Raspberry Pi? Or, maybe the Windows 10 version of Raspberry Pi?

i understand there is a pi version u can even add touch screen with maybe some dual speakers. it can be ran via windows, possibly via an emulator or just the os using it like a windows phone. but i would like to see some android application here. many peopl have old phones laying around or they dont use. why not cyngen it and run cm13 or like so u can use googles new ok setup, and other features such as buuilt in gps etc...i would do it if i had a place to keep it away from my toddler but at the moment i do not but would still like to see it done if you guys r up to it
