Zahin Shahazad I can understand that! Trains are crazy in that part of the world 😱 sometimes I see this footage from India/Bangladesh areas and I wonder how people can commute like that. Some footage looks so crowded and scary!

A 12 minute walk is actually quite decent. My girlfriend lives a 20 mins walk away from the nearest train station. Of course, she has a bicycle and can ride there in under 10 minutes and park it. But the walk itself is pleasant and you see many pedestrians, cyclists and some but not too many motorists on the road who are generally courteous.

Shibuya Scramble building just opened, I'm sure there are apartments available. Perfect, in Shibuya, on top of the station, nice stores in the building and your favorite part of the city.
I enjoy watching you two interact as a couple. It is so real and refreshing. Also, I've always heard that women are most beautiful when they are pregnant. It was true with my wife and it's true with Maiko.
Hello from Florida! I love watching you guys! I also love the feel of these causal videos. Thank you for sharing your experiences with us. Honestly to spend double the rent money because your rushing is going to lead to a financial disaster and you really want to buy a home in the future. Yes I understand the baby is coming but think about the cost of that and your rent alone without other factors to take into account is seriously not the smartest move money wise if your just planning on renting and not buying it.
Completely seconded. There are parts of life that are less-romantic, more logistical. Purchasing real estate and having a child are two of the most expensive costs a person can have in their life. Watching this video made me think of Brexit, there are too many conflicting "dealbreakers" that mutually hamstring the other - many people want the convenience of a large home with a station nearby - that's why such housing is expensive. Barring an insane market correction, housing prices won't suddenly drop - so either make more money, cut expenses drastically, or reassess the dealbreakers. Meanwhile, pregnancy doesn't dilly-dally, like it or not, the baby's coming in May. From the sounds of it, they're not really prepared financially for a move, it will be significant financial burden to move out just to say they have more space - not to mention a huge adjustment adjusting to a new living environment. Having said that, I think they're too emotionally committed to the idea to drop it now. They put out some pretty decent RUclips content, so I hope it works out! Hopefully RUclips Adsense pays them splendidly!
I understand wanting things conveniently close by, however it doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things and spending more than you should will hurt your financial stability in the near future. You are a three person family now. Complaining about a short walk at your age is a bit ridiculous. If the shoes hurt your feet, don't wear them.
Not only that, but a 7 minute walk might sound horrible now when pregnant, but Maiko isn't always going to be pregnant. Gotta consider future state with this "need". A 7 minute walk and a 5 minute walk are practically the same...
Omg thank you cant agree enough. exactly what i was thinking. How could someone complains about 5mins walk. Makes me wonder what kind of living standard they live in. Some people can’t even afford to rent a home. Always grateful for what you have is the key 😬
Are ya'll paying for it? LOL Im assuming local Tokyo people would want to know what they want and how they want to live. Mind you, RUclips is their job and they work from home. Weird how it's seen as complaining when it's just preferences 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️
My advise is to get a foldable flats. It is compact and extremely flexible. Change the flats to the heels when she’s at the destination (office or meeting her friends).
Hm. The desire to stay so close to the station is totally alien to me. When I lived in Tokyo, I just wanted to minimize my commute as much as possible. I worked in an expensive part of the city, so I chose a neighborhood on the same train line as the station closest to my job. My place was not the best, in fact it was pretty awful, but the area was nice (close to a beautiful park) and I had about a 15-20 min walk to the station which wasn't so bad for me. Now I'm house hunting in California and what I've learned is that unless you have A LOT of cash you have to compromise. Maybe you'll get one or two things on your "must haves" and the other items become "will have someday".
My wife and I are really enjoying the new channel man. Keep up the good work. My wife said, "Give me some maiko cooking with baby videos!" And I'm sure we're not the first to suggest it but that would be awesome. Just some favorite recipes. Anyway, best of luck man. I'm sure things'll work out whatever happens.
The way it always turns out, the things on your "must haves" list are invariably the things that make an apartment or house so much more expensive. :) Less than 5 min from the station is probably the biggest price factor outside of square footage. View is up there too - but I've seen properties with great views that just happen to be in older, less desirable buildings for relatively cheap. Similar to "view"... light is one of the things on my list. There's actually building codes in Japan that help to ensure that daylight falls on your property for a certain amount of time during the day, but a lot of older/cheaper places just don't have windows in the right spots to take advantage of that. I've seen apartment layouts where it's impossible to get any light in certain rooms and that's a big thing for me. I don't have to be able to gaze out over the city, but being able to see things during the day without turning on lights is pretty important to my mental well being. Good luck with the apartment hunt, and may your compromises be few and painless!
Thanks Tokyo Slim! The 5min walk is a deal breaker for Maiko. It limits our options, but there are properties out there. I completely understand your feelings on getting light into the apartment. That's a deal breaker for me too, especially since we work all day in the apartment at times. Gotta keep motivated.
@@TokyoZebra I understand what you're saying completely! You WILL find what you're looking for cause I'm going to pray for it tonight. When you walk in, you'll know it's EXACTLY what you had in mind.
Oh, goodness! I’ve had to play the waiting game with apartments. It’s so stressful (and I didn’t have a baby on the way)! I’m headed to Osaka in April and can’t wait to be back in Japan again. Much love from the States!
First of all, love you guys! Very excited for baby! I will say that with all due respect with your expectations and needs for your new place, you most probably won't be leaving home too much the first few months. Sleep deprivation the first few months (heck even year) is REAL. I love your motivation for making even more videos soon but be realistic and calm about it. Take your time, taking care of yourself and baby. Mom will be going through many mood swings due to hormonal changes. Take it easy, sleep whenever you can, eat as properly as you can. Love you guys, wishing the best, hope you have family or friends that can help a bit 😭 again, not scaring you but those first few months are as silly as it sounds SURVIVAL. You guys are a great team, you can do it!
I've been following you since your main channel has 30K and as fans we just want the best for you guys! I think the amazon wishlist is a great idea ! You put too much pressure on yourself!
I had something similar to Maiko during my pregnancies. Symphysis pubis dysfunction. Hurts like hell! belt, physio and acupuncture helped. Wishing you guys the best of luck!

Thank you for giving so much info!! I can totally understand why you prefer the city center in terms of "handyness". I usually prefer to live in the outside but it is true that it takes longer to go to places. Good luck finding the new appartment and cheers to Maiko! I hope she feels a bit better soon :)
Creatives need space! Tokyo apartments are small, I can't imagine having to live, work and have a baby in one. I totally get the need. I hope you two find the right apartment!
Hi! There are small scented plastic bags (only the inside). You put one diaper inside, close it and it can wait until you find a trash can without smell. It’s way cheaper than diaper genie and you can have them with you wherever you go !
ugh that pregnancy pelvic pain....I know what you are talking about....makes so you can't walk! It will ease up...if not now then after your baby is born. Take it easy and rest when it is really hurting. Best of luck! Love your channel !!
Poor Maiko! Sounds like she's suffering from some nasty pelvic pains. Perfectly natural in the later half of pregnancy. It's caused by a hormone that loosens the pelvis bone prepping it for labor. I don't know if it's different in Japan, but in the US all my doctors always welcomed phone calls about any concerns I had while pregnant. So I'd call just to put yourselves at ease!....Good luck finding a place soon!!
Best of luck to you both! Finding a place is about timing. Maybe the apartment that is meant for you will come by in a week or more! I know your stressed but keep looking. Bon courage!
Okay here are some important factors for you guys to consider when renting a new place or buying your place. Right now you're thinking about it as a couple would think about it but I need you to think about what the day today is going to be like with a child are you close enough to all the things are going to need for the kid does the neighborhood have a library parks schools that kind of thing. is it convenient for raising a child is the question you need to ask yourself. I lived in San Francisco for many years and there are some neighborhoods that are just wonderful but once you have kids they all of a sudden become very inconvenient. Do a little neighborhood research
My dude good luck with everything. Hope you two get some help from families after birth. Location-wise, I suggest Kita Shinagawa. I know you said you went to Oimachi and that area is close enough to everything. Futako-Tamagawa area is also great.
Its true what you say about not having a big space for a baby in the beginning, which i noticed with my sisters little son she got 1,3 years ago, and now she have finally found a big apartment after having to live with me and my mom for 1,3 years with the baby! I wish u the best Paolo!
I think 15 minutes away TOPS. But also I understand that it'll be super difficult to travel that distance with a baby. I hope you find a place soon. Bless you!
Not wanting to ride trains because you simply don't like them and not wanting to walk any longer thank 5 minutes because "it makes you wanna cry" sound kind of snobbish and are, quite frankly, stupid factors for not wanting to live slightly further away. Especially when you could save a lot of money by doing so. Just one guys's opinion.
Dudes.. the Tozai line... man I was done by the end of our trip lol. Had to travel to Nishi-Kasai Stn. at night, that was a HORRIBLE commute to get to our hotel -.- Love the people, hate the train system especially during rush hour mann lol. Congrats to u both, good luck on your search, hopefully u don't mind some msgs showing u listings of places with your criteria :)
I love watching you guy’s. I think the viewer baby shower is a great idea, I’m not sure how realistic sending items to Japan is though, that would be quite expensive. Especially when considering the weight of whatever the item is. Maybe there’s another way to do it? It would be great if you could open the gifts and stream it live with your viewers. I realize there’s a time change but that’s alright, people who want to participate do, others can watch it later.
Diaper genies are amazing! They are $40-$50 for the actual bin and $15-$25 (4 refill containers & each one fit so many diapers at a time!)The actual “bin” has lasted me 2 kids so it’s the best purchase you could buy with babies!
Yay! Glad to see a new video today! I was worried Maiko was having more belly pain. Was it Braxton hicks? If so, I can relate, I had painful braxton hicks related to what my midwife called "cranky uterus syndrome" that would kick in every time I did any activity from 7 months on! Also had that pain you describe and it's Pelvic Girdle Pain. It hurts so bad! One thing that helped was wearing a supportive belly band under my clothes to lift the baby up a bit off those painful areas. You can buy them on amazon so I don't know about where you can get them in Japan. I hope you are feeling better Maiko! Really like Tokyo Zebra! Love from BC Canada!
It can be really stressful to try to make rent because you will also have other expenses. When you have a baby sometimes the priorities change. For example you want to be on lower floor bc of stroller (elevator?). And you aren't always going to be going out to stores because the baby has to nap. It is important to find a place that has a space to shoot that doesn't disturb baby napping. Have you thought about workshare type of office close by? For island you can buy those movable kitchen carts and they can be used for so many things. I think you just have to be creative and probably willing to take extra steps to set up your area. I had two kids and running an online social media but when I had my third I just found I couldn't do it anymore, I lost interest. Another option if you really want all these non negotiables is see if there are units that require a landlord type of function, i.e. you help the owner with other units in return for lower rate. I'm not sure if they have that there. But yeah when you have that beautiful baby then maybe you are ok with no view, you'll be looking into their cute little eyes instead. The ultimate question is how much are you willing to stress about finances in order to get this place. Babies add stress so try not to take on too much. The first year though they sleep so much it is really adapting bit by bit. You will not need everything set up right off the bat. You can slowly make changes. Don't get too stressed. And talk to some other parents to learn how they adapt. I saw your Japanese mom video I was really impressed with her....I don't know how they make those bentos and all that stuff. It's pretty amazing. She sacrifices a lot to maintain the life of her husband and her own personal friendships, most mom's really get down to bare bones just to survive. But it's definitely inspiring to see. Good luck guys!
Maybe it's a different perspective, but a 10 minute walk is still short to me. I like to walk, maybe that's why lol but unfortunately I live in a country where walking is not encouraged because of safety issues.
Also a gaijin and still hoping I run into you before you move. I live in Higashi Shibuya, but recognize many of the local views (Shibuya Scramble Square suppa, etc....). Good luck with your search. I plan to try and buy in place in about 15 months after my lease is up. (Horrified by the whole "key money" concept) Thanks for your videos. And thanks for the tip on the 24 trash room. I thought that was standard.
Paolo, what Maiko has is called Symphysis pubis dysfunction (pubalgia). It hurts depending on the person, the anatomy, baby weight, etc. And yes, the pelvis is opening in preparation for the baby so the pubis starts to open. Hang in here Maiko!
Her (Maiko's) explanation of why the distance to a line matters, definitely makes it easier to comprehend. At first hearing like 5 or 10 minutes as a breaking point in a commute seems strange but the lifestyle and traffic patterns are very different than many areas in the US, or wherever else.
Hi Maiko- From one mama to another ... it's possible you may have Pelvic Girdle Pain (PVP) (or perhaps Symphisis Pubic Disfunction - SPD) Both are very painful indeed for mama but thankfully not dangerous for baby. So when doctor tells you "there's nothing wrong... " (grrr) he's not strictly wrong... but it certainly doesn't help you with how you're feeling either. There are remedies and treatments available that may help ease the pain/discomfort you feel... things like sleeping with pillows between your legs and one under your baby bump at night, not sitting too long to wearing pelvic support belts and doing pelvic floor exercises and certain kinds of stretches (safely of course and with an ok from a medical professional ). I found a few things that worked for me.; the moment you described what you were feeling, I was like "I know that feeling!!" and had to write. Mamas unite! lol xxx Good luck with the house/apartment hunt. xxx
I work from home and we didn’t move after we had our baby until he was 9 months old. It gets tough once he starts to crawl which will be around 7-9 months usually. It might not be comfortable but still somewhat manageable :). Good luck with the search!!!
My sis had her baby a little over a year ago and any worry she had she spoke to her doctor. Never be afraid to check on your little one and due to how small Maiko is her hips/pelvis is having to stretch a ways. Sis had the same issue and consulted doc about how to relieve the pain. I'll keep you guys in my thoughts and prayers that you find a home suited for all your needs. Getting around with a baby is going to be a struggle but I know you guys got this. Also maybe put up a baby registry, might take a bit but I'm happy to support baby zebra. ❤️

Your wants and needs are going to change after baby! The heels comment...will change. If you want to wear heels, wear flats and take heels until you need them. You will want space and grocery store. You will find a way to get over the train issue. The space is #1. You will have a few months after baby. It will great to have an office!!!
So nice to hear from you guys! Best of luck with finding a place! :) Hope Maiko is feeling better soon. Have you gys heard of cloth diapers? That might be a solution :) less waste which is also good for the environment and no smell if you get laundry bags for them :)

Maiko what you are experiencing is what I had with 3 of my pregnancies and it is called pelvic girdle pain. It is very painful and I feel for you. It does go after you have the baby
Living in a central area makes perfect sense: you are saving time (less time spent in moving from point A to B, etc). All the best to you and Maiko and the new baby!
Matthew Kotwicki I went there, it works for them but I live in Southern Asia and in summer with the humidex factor nobody wants to have a long commute, unless you want to be covered in sweat within 10/15minutes of walk haha
Holy cow. That $3000 apartment costs more than I make a month! I'm a teacher. Cost of living in Tokyo is craaaaazy!! I have a 1400sqft apartment for $700/mo. Hard to imagine the difference!!
Speaking of living on other parts of Japan, maybe you could make new videos and a new channel like "Paolo from Hokkaido" in the future after you have finished covering Tokyo.
Omg, I think what Maiko is talking about is called symphysis pubis dysfunction. I had it with my second baby and it's so painful just to take a simple step. Maiko just needs to take it easy and try not to lift heavy or carry much. My baby was born in 2016 and since my doctor didn't diagnosed me properly I have been in recovery since then. Hopefully she has a less painless, safe pregnancy and delivery. 🙏🙏
i feel like you're rushing it too much! that appartment at the end is kinda too expensive for a temporary solution i think :/ for a quick fix you should just rent the cheapest place you can, this app was new and very swanky looking lol

Naw Maiko! Sounds like you have SPD. The bone is the Pelvis :) Its a very painful condition but it can be normal for pregnancy.
Rest up, mama!
Keep up the great work! Love the simplicity of these videos, but also the more complicated ones on your main chanel. Perfect!
Glad you like both styles!
Good luck on your apartment hunting/house hunting!!
Always enjoy watching your videos Paolo and Maiko!!🙏Hello from California! 😃
Hello from Tokyo!
The way it always turns out, the things on your "must haves" list are invariably the things that make an apartment or house so much more expensive. :)
Less than 5 min from the station is probably the biggest price factor outside of square footage.
Prayers to you and Maiko on getting your new home now!❤🙏😃
First of all, love you guys!
Thank you! I love sharing with all of you what's going on.
haven't even watched it but I know its gonna be a good one!
Thanks for watching Ruthless Wrestling Federation!
I had something similar to Maiko during my pregnancies. Symphysis pubis dysfunction. Hurts like hell! belt, physio and acupuncture helped. Wishing you guys the best of luck!
The best part 7:19 we love you GUYS you are such an amazing inspiration for someone who wants to visit Japan
I plan to visit Japan on December and would love to meet up with you guys 🇯🇵🗾♥️👍👍🇯🇵🗾♥️👍👍👍
Keep going!!!!!! 👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you for giving so much info!! I can totally understand why you prefer the city center in terms of "handyness". I usually prefer to live in the outside but it is true that it takes longer to go to places.
Good luck finding the new appartment and cheers to Maiko! I hope she feels a bit better soon :)
A 12-minute walk is nothing! Did you mean to say a longer amount of time?
Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us. Hope everything works out with you guys. I'm excited to see your beautiful baby soon 😊
I LOVE this channel and paolo from Tokyo. Something about the music, editing and your personalities. I dunno, I could watch all day
Creatives need space!
Yamanote Line rulez 4 ever!!! Yeah, you see this cause I'm at work watching your vlog. And getting paid to do it, also.
The backdrop for your vlog couldn't have been anymore perfect
I enjoy watching you guys apartment shopping. Any more videos of you guys apartment hunting?
I just love how Maiko is putting on makeup while your talking. It's so real life.
ugh that pregnancy pelvic pain....I know what you are talking about....makes so you can't walk!
"If I have to walk more than 5 minutes, I cry" - Maiko. I hear ya. :D
James K Martin and I thought I was a wus cos I cant handle walking 30 mis in my city with fancy shoes. Damn fancy shoes....
she is pathetic
My dude good luck with everything. Hope you two get some help from families after birth.
Location-wise, I suggest Kita Shinagawa. I know you said you went to Oimachi and that area is close enough to everything. Futako-Tamagawa area is also great.
I'm so happy you made this channel, best of luck with the baby, hope the delivery goes well :D
Bless you!
Love watching Maiko do her makeup!
Also you can tell from the comments on this video the cultural differences on what is 'normal'
Omg, I used to live in Hirai as well in 2017!
As a person who grew up in a small town, I loved that place.
So cute.... good luck to all finding a comfortable home.
At the end of the day, if you can make it happen, then do it. Best to you guys.
O/T, but seeing Maiko do her makeup made me want to watch a GRWM video from her, preferably with info on what makeup products she's using. :)
IKR! Let's hope they'll take notice and we get a GRWM video! :D
I hope you guys find a forever home!
You are awesome! Great work guys! Motivating to open my own business. It would be great if you could talk about the challenges and opportunities as a freelancer in Japan in general and Tokyo in particular. Thanks and rock and roll!
You should definitely document the renovations, that would make a great series
Hmm...what about kamata ? You're right by the toyoko and kehin tohoku line and the keihin kyuko line is near by as well. I'm sure ota ku is less expensive and you're pretty well connected to busier parts of Tokyo.
I’m early! 😃😍😍😊 I love you guys!! It’s great to know how much the costs are in Japan! Best wishes to both of you!! ❤️ I’d love to see cooking videos in the future!! 😍😍 And can’t wait to see more videos from Tokyo !! 😃😃👍
Thanks for watching Laine On the Go!
@@TokyoZebra You’re welcome!! 😃😊❤️
That might be a solution :) less waste which is also good for the environment and no smell if you get laundry bags for them :)
pregnant Maiko being so happy for winning bread is the cutest thing ever! she's eating for 2, they should have given her 2! :-P
the more the baby grows the worst the pain gets !! I experienced that, I couldn't even turn in my bed T.T hope Maiko gets better !! it all will worth it!!
Wish all the best finding a new home for your baby.
Time is very important to us.
I'm really happy for you guys! and I wishing you the best with the search! take care and keep doing what you guys do! thank you!
why not get a bicycle to ride to the station if you worried about distance.
Having a kid my friend
@@benjaming.5722 doesn't prevent *him* from cycling, does it?
@@OjaysReel him or her. Mama Charlie bicycle is big business in japan
@@benjaming.5722 check out Amsterdam for that solution.
Matthew Kotwicki I went there, it works for them but I live in Southern Asia and in summer with the humidex factor nobody wants to have a long commute, unless you want to be covered in sweat within 10/15minutes of walk haha
Really happy for you guys. Have been watching your channel since your skateboard videos. Its been a long time when you think about it🤔
that's crazy...I appreciate you coming over to this channel as well.
Congrats on the 1Mmilestone! Have been following you since you were at 2k😊
Paolo from Hokiddo YES. top 10 places to see snow all year around. haha
