SPOILERS: The Kiryu ending is often misunderstood. He was refusing to get treatment the whole game because he lacks the will to live, he doesn't care about himself. But because of the events of the game and the people around him, he finally decides that it is worth living especially because of his bonds with others and he also realise that the lives of others are uplifted (and happier) when he is around (Kiryu is so stoic and self-sacrificing that he didn't realise this sooner). So he finally agree to get treatment (the ending scene is him entering a cancer therapy room) so he can continue bonding with others (by being alive) and that also means meeting Haruka again. He also finally regain his name as Kazuma Kiryu by revealing his name to the doctor, this is a throwback to LAD: Gaiden where he erased his name. Honestly imo this is the perfect ending for Kiryu, he went from a stoic self-righteous man to a guy loving his friends and goofing with them. Kiryu in this game is genuinely more fun and open, compared to previous titles where he is super serious all the time in the main plot.
if we get a kiryu that beat the cancer but the it took such a toll on his body that he becomes a character we meet in like a dragon 9s side activities , like he went back to four shine or something like that.. that would be perfect for me... The Dragon is dead but kiryu still lives..
Amazing review, the main story was weak(not devoid of merit but felt like they needed more rewrites), but the combat, side content and some of the side stories(not all are like the sujimon mini gamw follows the introduce number of opponents to beat in a mini game beat one, another introduce as the stronger opponent story best rinse and repeat). But overall not my favorite rgg game but definitely top 5 as i invested im 160 hours. I was hoping the main story would be on par with 7 and judgment. Also don't forget they paywalled a dungeon with over 1 hrs worth of dialogue which was the sea dungeon on top of the new game plus.
Just beat the game like a week ago and two days ago it become the first yakuza game i ever platinumed... That said im well aware the thropies are a lot easier in infinte wealth compared to the older games
I honestly don't think I can go back to Like a Dragon after completing Infinite Wealth , I'm not a fan of turn based games and I spent a 100 hours and I'm yet to finish the DLC . From the 100 hours I've spent it only felt like 2 hours was wasted on grinds . Awesome review man .
I found the story to be utter nonsense from about chapter 7 and on, where I sense they must've run out of time or ideas (or both). I'm a seasoned veteran of the series, so this wasn't like a shock to me. Everything else in this game was SO good though that I could only give it the same rating as all other RGG games, each with their on set of issues but in the end an "Extremely good time" out of 10.
