Put cardboard down on your paths while waiting for wood chips. It’s good practice anyway as weeds will come through chips on their own.

You can put weeds into a plastic container add water and weight it down to make liquid plant food. This is a good way to use weeds because it returns the nutrients of the weeds back to the ground, or plants that you want. Keep in mind you need to delute the resulting slurry in water as it is very concentrated.

Seren, dont waste the onion stems/leaves if your pulling them fresh, used the bulb but shred all the green stems and freeze in a bag, come winter they are a great add into fried rice or stir frys , saves buying spring onions, this principle also applies to shallots and garlic

Your plot is really lovely 😍
I got a plot last year and spend hours a week weeding. It was filled with comfrey and other weeds to keep up with.
It took too much time so this year I got a battery driven grass trimmer and it was definitely the best investment I made on my plot!
It takes just minutes a week now to cut everything down 🤩
It takes all the comfrey and weeds to!

For the weed seeds in your compost, you could try to have them germinate and spout in a bucket, then pull them when they are tiny, and bag up the "clean" soil so you can use it later. Would that work ?

You could leave the green matter as mulch in the pathways as long as nothing will reroot, has gone to seed or is a pernicious weed (although I know you have a problem with bindweed and mare's tale). If you don't cover the soil with something, Mother Nature will do it for you! I envy your sweetpeas but may have to live vicariously through you as mine aren't growing in our cool weather! 😃 You might want to check our Danny's YT channel at GrowUp as he recently found a connection for his greenhouse guttering to go to the water catchment system. Charles Dowding has grown potatoes in the same spot for a decade with no issues and says crop rotation is not necessary. You have made such an amazing transformation to your plot! Congratulations!

Tomatoes need consistent moisture, so far yours are ok. Paprik peppers are grown by very few people, so you're the exception.
I found that pop bottles filled with water, quickly turned upside down and pushed into potted plants keeps the moisture in.
There are bottles with pointed spouts you may have available, they're the commercial version, but regulate water a bit better.

Seren, I have a long gravel drive, and an area of gravel at the back. I have used white vinegar, with water, in the ratio of one to four, with a bit of washing up liquid for my weeds. It has killed them. I do not have a sprayer, but used a watering can which my husband used for weed killer. Might that save you weeding your paths? Your allotment is marvellous, well done. I have a small bin, like a kitchen bin at one end of my grrenhouse. It is oblong and catches the water from the greenhouse.

Do you really think you will get any pumpkins outside? The weather never mind what the climate lunatics are telling us is not any warmer it is colder the last few years. I have a terrible time moving my plants inside at night in july(!) to keep them growing even though the climate is " burning up". The fall will come this year as well and things will stop growing. I can bring in tomatoes but not much else. I love your updates and want more because you and the plot is wonderful but can you also show some tempature with your updates, I grow outdoors in containers with a kitchen to bring them indoors when it gets cold.Havent your night temp also been every night 12 ?
