The Project and Transformations:
Since March, Hjørring Municipality has been working on removing the old fish ladder, identified as an obstruction in the National Water Plans. This project aims to create free passage for fish across 250 km of upstream waterways, enhancing sustainable fish populations and improving fishing waters in Uggerby Å.
The New Area:
Through our drone footage, you'll get a spectacular overview of the transformed landscape. See how 53,000 cubic meters of soil have been removed and 6,000 cubic meters of stone have been added to create new, natural waterways and stone beds.

Our video reveal the fine details of the new area. Observe how the new streams now provide free passage for fish and how the improved environment supports better living conditions for aquatic animals and plants.
Future Benefits:
With a budget of 20 million DKK, this project will also boost fishing tourism and ensure a sustainable future for both fish and the local community. Bindslev Gl. Elværk will receive compensation for 10 years of electricity production due to the reduced water intake.
