  • Carter's address drew attention the Cold War arms race, and Carter's presidency would see escalating tensions on that front.

Jimmy Carter was and is a decent man. A rarity in politics.
He invested heavily into renewable energy research and alternatives, he took on board what science had to say and didn't just dismiss it because he didn't like what he was hearing.
Jimmy Carter has also shuned riches that outgoing Presidents are entitled to and has lived a modest life. A good man who was in politics for the right reasons, whether you agree with his policies or not you can't argue with that.

It’s a shame Ford lost to Carter in 1976 , had ford not pardoned Nixon, or at the very least pardoned him after the election, he would’ve likely won the 1976 presidential election to a full 4 year term, serving as our 38th president from August 9th, 1974 to January 20th, 1981

heh heh, "Carter Baby". Well I'm older than that but Jimmy Carter was really the first politician I ever recognized. One of my earliest political memories in grade school was the Carter Ford election.
Sadly my one experience meeting him in person was awful. He came to speak at my former college 10 years ago. The lines were long, I finally only watched him speak behind glass (only a select few were actually allowed in the actual room).
I had brought his Presidential photo from my downstairs office, framed hoping he would sign it. Someone in security took the photo saying they'd see what could be done and I never saw it again. My last memory was the police warning me to get off the lawn as his limo was an acre away driving off.
It pays to have connections! Sadly, I did not :/

James Kingsmill President Carter was one of the best Presidents this nation had.
For starters, he did everything he promised he would. He brought honor, integrity, and decency to the Oval Office by being the most moral man to ever be Commander-In-Chief.
He promised he would work far better with Congress than his predecessors. Indeed, he worked far better with the Democrat Congress than Republican Presidents Ford, Nixon, and Eisenhower. And he even worked better with the Democrat Congress than President Reagan would with a Republican Congress.
President Carter promised that he would elect more women and non-Caucasians to federal offices than ever before, and he did that with resounding success.
President Carter promised he would tackle the mass unemployment that was besieging the nation after the Nixon-Ford Administration. He oversaw the creation of 8 million jobs in four years.
President Carter made America energy independent by deregulating the oil companies and giving them more reign. This created more jobs while significantly reducing America’s dependence on Middle Eastern politics. Furthermore, President Carter *created* the Department of Energy.
Another department created by President Carter was the Department of Education. President Carter promised that he would oversee great improvement of public schooling system, and did more for public primary and secondary education than any other President (President Bill Clinton holds the record on collegiate education policies, not primary and secondary).
President Carter’s economic recovery plan, well underway, ensured no American would be left behind. Reagan’s are like Trump’s. The wealthy benefited in extraordinary amounts while the not-wealthy...stayed not-wealthy.
Furthermore, President Carter did more for environmentalism than any President by greatly expanding national parks and federal protected land.
And in terms of federal economy, the National GDP growth was higher under President Carter than any non-war President save Kennedy, Johnson, and Clinton.
Best of all, President Carter did all this while being the most fiscally responsible President in modern history. Even more so than President Clinton, and that is saying something.

Fat dog Eating chips So interesting when you consider that at the moment President Carter raised his right hand, he became the oldest living Democrat President.
Forty-three years later, and his Democrat posterity are President Clinton, President Obama, and soon to be President Biden.
President Carter is one amazing man.

I’m not acting like he was one of the top best Presidents by any means. But he is such a good person. He said what he felt, he tried to do what was right. He’s not a bad person, unlike most evil politicians who would obsess and abuse their power, he really tried and cared about the people, unfortunately with the inflation and gas prices of 1979 and the Iran Hostage Crisis he just had bad luck. But he still felt like a real leader and someone who wasn’t abusing his power. Till this day he will still, he will go down in history as the president who made human rights central to his own foreign policy. ✌🏻🦅🇺🇸🦅✌🏻

If the great man is still with us on October1st, 2023, he will turn 99 years old.
Mr. Carter is easily the longest lived president in American history.
His wife, Rosalynn, is the second longest lived First Lady.
Their 77 year long marriage is the longest in presidential history in America.
Carter and Gerald Ford, his predecessor, are two of the most humble men ever to occupy the White House.
Sadly, Rosalynn is now in the grip of dementia. She just recently turned 96.

This is the 15th of 100 famous speeches that I'm watching to make research on public speaking. I guess this is the dullest speech I've seen so far. As kids used to say when I was in school, "My grandma would make a better speech." But anyway, I think it's important to have bad examples while learning public speaking as well as good ones. Now, let me tell a few words about the content. I've noticed a significant improvement in the style in which the inaugural addresses were written. There are far more keywords and fewer repetitions than there were previously. If this speech would have been given by Nixon or Johnson I had probably believed in every word. Spiritual strength of our proudly idealistic nation, unchanging principles, bold and brilliant dreams, unity and trust, faith in our country, equality and opportunity, human dignity, basic human rights, passion for freedom--and all this mumbled by a sleepy voice of an emotionless zombie.

I'm atheist. But Joe Biden is religious. But I'm sure you think Trump is religious... with all his infidelity and lies.
