- Ice camping for a noob can be kind of a nerve racking thing.. Especially in Nebraska or the southern states on the butt end of the ice belt. Rarely do we get over 6" of ice on a lot of lakes, which is enough, but 10"+ would be better. Thats what she said, eh? Anywhoodles, this was my 3rd time ice camping, and I feel like my set up is getting dialed, and I'm getting the hang of it. To top it off, we absolutely beat the breaks off the fish, had a few hundred laughs, ate some warmish tacos, and didn't sink to the bottom of the lake overnight. Major win in my book.

I made it out. Lost my phone down the hole due to a 35 inch pike being a bastard. Needless to say he was dinner haha. Keep it up stay safe. Should come up to Lakes Country MN. We also have the Red River that has cats.

Where are the small cats in that lake? We have only caught them fishing from a boat, but the smallest was 11 pounds that hit a spinnerbait and biggest was 19.5 on cut bait. We usually target walleye, crappie and bass but damn are those kitties fun!!
We found groups of 100+ 15-20" cats last year that mixed themselves in. Didn't see them this year.

Ive never caught a catfish in winter. Here in Virginia we dont get cold enough to ice fish and the cats dont play...i usually go for the trout this time of year. Great video as usual Josh!!! Thanks!!!
