Redd Kross.... and The Lemonheads, are my 2 most favorite bands ever. I at least got to see Evan Dando, meet him, and have my brother who saw him after me, convince him to give me a quick call pre-show.. but, never got to see R.K. & doubt they'll come to Canada at this point.. 😢
I'm a huge Carpenters fan and I think this is an amazing cover. Ironically, I bought the album it's on some 18 years ago but only saw this video today for the first time.
I remember buying this album on the day of release and playing it to death. Been a Carpenters fan my whole life, heard a million covers but this is right up there with the very best of them.
Stephen and Jeff are true fans of everything of that era. Definitely check out their other music. My favorite band. This tooruclips.net/video/FcwDoLuo1QU/видео.htmlsi=SiLeRGa6RdlhpDlp
Yesterday Once More my favorite record my pink bunny used to sing it and my brothers orange boy bunny used to sing I’m A Man by Chicago on our bunny stage!
I love this band so much!!!! They're way to underrated, and way to amazing. If you can ever get your hands on a copy of show world, please do. You will not regret it🤩
I remembered that day : I sang this in Akademi Penata Rontgen Semarang @ Inauguration Nite, 1996 with my band. The crowd gettin wild. Because we're the only one rock band performance that night. Closest the stage - few young men wear off their shirt and raised it on the head! We're surprised and wonder. Because it was our 1st performance on public.
This is the first version of the song I knew - I was just getting into the Carpenters when If I Were A Carpenter came out, so somehow I got that CD about a year before I got Now & Then. I love both versions equally, amazing cover!
It does make me cry.. just like before. This is one of the best paeans to pop music that has ever been written. And this is a fine rendition/performance.
Redd Kross are a great band ,i used to go to most gigs in London in the 90.s but kids etc get in the way these days. I remember one gig in i think it was a club called Utopia at the end of the of Portabelo mkt in london they were superb regards jimmy
Redd Kross rules, one of the best bands ever hands down!! How freaky, I bought that same "King Rat" t-shirt Jeff is wearing here in Osaka a couple of months ago!
The 90’s were awesome because a lot of overlooked bands from The 80’s were resurrected and encouraged to bring their influential originality back to the table : A Real Second Chance for bands like : THE MEAT PUPPETS, THE BUTTHOLE SURFERS,THE ROLLINS BAND,SONIC YOUTH , and RED KROSS .
Best Carpenters cover ever! The harmonies are gorgeous and I love the production. And as a Redd Kross fan, from time to time I admit I am disappointed in their mixes on certain songs. So glad they nailed this one!
Had the CD of this...If I Was A Carpenter was the title.Bought that CD cause I got a free cassette tape of song mixes from a magazine! Can't find that CD so now I have to go digital to enjoy this song now. :-)
If somebody told me that some "rock band" covered this song, I would say it has to sound like shit. Wow - do I ever stand corrected. Heard about these guys through Shonen Knife. They were off my radar all my life. I'm glad I found them.
I absolutely love this version of this song. They did such a fantastic job. I was lucky to buy this CD ("If I Were A Carpenter") back in 1994. It's been out of print for years. To purchase it on Amazon now costs a small fortune.
@828Phatty It's from a tribute album to The Carpenters called "If I Were A Carpenter" which featured lots of alternative band. It also included the gem from Sonic Youth: Superstar. (Search for it on here!)
"If I Were A Carpenter" is one of the best tribute compilations out there
Conrad Poos i lost that CD like 18 years ago!

THE best
The rain lamp!!! My grandmother had one!
What a great cover from a great band. RIP Eddie Kurdziel. Show World was such a great album, I still listen to it.
For years I keep coming back to this cover. There are a lot of cliche elements, but I think it works because he sings it like he really loves it.
Exactly. I think this was the most sincere tribute on the compilation, and I come back to it too. Check out their cover of Teenage Fanclub.
Paying homage to the most heartbreaking story in music history.
That, and Taylor Swift's existence.
Redd Kross hould have been huge.

Essa banda foi uma surpresa quando foi lançada...uma surpresa bem agradável...muito boa.

When I saw them open for Dinosaur Jr. in 1989, they covered the Runaways' 'Cherry Bomb" (with Lita Ford of the Runaways joining them on stage).

OMG mad !
tht sound tearing me apart..
especialy mixed piano with flanger at the end
That’s Charlotte Caffey from The Go-Go’s playing the piano.
Really? I can't tell unless she was VERY pregnant with Astrid.
It’s actually Gere Fennelly. Jeff McDonald and Charlotte Caffey have collaborated on music but not on this song.
Nice to know.
Good punk band!
