- Learn how to charge your Samsung phone if it displays a water drop icon
Your galaxy device may not support charging if it detects any water or moisture above a certain level in the USB port.
When your phone displays a water drop icon, it indicates moisture detection. If that is the case, you should turn off your device and leave it to dry completely.
If you still experience issues or see the icon, follow these steps.
1) Unplug your phone from the charger
2) Wipe with a dry cloth or gently shake your device with the port facing downwards (5-10 times)
3) Place your phone on a cloth in a well-ventilated area or dry with a fan
If you experience issues with your charging even after drying your phone, try clearing your USB cache.
1) Go to ‘Settings’ and tap ‘Apps’. Then tap the ‘Filter and sort’ icon
2) Tap the switch to enable ‘Show system apps’
3) Scroll to ‘USB settings’ and tap ‘Storage’
4) Tap ‘Clear cache’ to clear your USB cache
If you are still unable to charge your phone via the USB port, you can charge it using a wireless charger.
To ensure your phone charges correctly, make sure it is placed directly in the centre of the pad, without any obstructions in the way.

One of samsungs dumbest features that malfunctions quite often
Complete nonsense. My phone has NO water or anything else. Will not charge. This is a software issue not a hardware issue.
Which model?
So true after some updating software its like that nothing happen always have an icon for moisture usb. Even you do the clear cache of usb or restart the phone f*ck this samsung always like that
SAMSUNG should Be Ban europe And Asia
Mine did this as well. It has NEVER had contact with water mine is an A53
I have an a54, after one ui 6.0 update it wont stop whining about dust debree or water
or maybe dont make a feature that just bricks the users phone is theres a little water? giving the error is good but blocking charging completely is annoying
True you should be able to ignore it if its a faulty port for example, atleast a "Remind me after 5 minutes and continue charging (unsafe)" option would be nice
You don't want to end up damaging your phone
@@teodortodorov6974 yes but when your phone is at 0% you need to at least get a little charge to turn it on and delete the cache memory as they suggest. It should let you at least charge to 5% and then stop.
maybe it could let out a sound to empty it out?
Blocking charging is actually safe because what if your phone sparks
It's just a programming bug and a bad sensor 95% of the time. just fix your device instead of putting out crappy tutorials what won't fix it. Make it so we can ignore that warning!
seriously f them
strategy to get us to buy the wireless charger
If it works lol. I work for ATT and had a customer in today that had this issue and his wireless charging hasn't worked in a year.
It worked thou
@@iftyi94 Really??
Omg & I did ugh...
It's very unconvenient though
How am I supposed to clear USB cache when my phone is not event charging.
Plug your phone into a computer
Remove the useless feature that's of no work!!
amen
Can we troubleshoot?
I might change to apple just for this annoying issue. On my orevious samsung S21 , I have spent one full year using only wireless charger. I have upgraded to S23, 2 months later, the same problem. My phone has never touched water, and the port is clean.
Same here with my A54, I'll need to format for the 3rd time.
Same issue with s23 atm...
Fckng Samsung!!
Ridiculously annoying problem. Samsung phones are absolutely rubbish
Totally agree and can't wait to go back to Apple
or just dont put this system apple do not have that and nothing break i dont see the point of having this alert lmao that just stupid
Apple has that too, but they include the option saying emergency override
What helped me when it was completely drained and wouldn’t charge is I had to hold the button down until it showed 0% (like it was trying to turn on) and then plugged it in and it started charging.
wait this actually worked for me too
Could you please elaborate, I'm having the same issue!
Bro thank you so much. For anyone who is having the same issue, you need to power off your phone then plug it in and just hold the power button. You don't need to wait for the power to drain. At first I thought it failed cause I saw the message then the water symbol vanished. I tried plugging it in again and my phone started charging.
this is the only thing that worked, my divice was already swithed off and had 0%. I got the waring and it wouldnt charge. It started charging only when I did exactly what you described here ! thanks !
This and only this is the solution. Thanks
I have this issue since 2 months on my s22U, it's not going away, I tried all the methods that Samsung suggested but no use. Using wireless charger now. Stupid feature, probably my last Samsung phone.
I got the same problem. For like 2 month. Until one day, he drop to 0% because i have not charge it. Then i have clean the use port with a brush. And charge it on my wireless charger. And start it again. Now the problem is solved. So let it drop to 0%. Should work.
Never buying samsumg again
User feedback for Samsung;
F your warning and charging port I did everything and still getting this fup warning if you can't just disable it why did you put that stupid warning.
Feedback ends...
Oh my god yes why didn’t I think of clearing the usb cache of a DEAD PHONE that I don’t have a wireless charger for
try to unplug and plug it a few times, and then plug it, hold the power and volume at the same time for 30 seconds
it work to turn on, and then unplug it, wait until u see a single samsung logo in the middle screen, and plug it in a hurry, Notes : samsung ussually has 2 booting animation, the first animation, and the second animation, wait until the second animation to plug it again
@@Neoma14 I actually did this and managed to get it back. Fed it enough juice to get it back. I live in a humid place I wish this wasn't a thing. Thanks though!
I think my phone was made in the same factory as my dogs squeaky toy.
Here's what worked for me, from the comments:
1. Turn off your phone.
2. Connect your phone to the charger (and get the water icon).
3. Hold down the power button and keep it held down for a long time.
When my phone came back on, the water icon was gone and it was charging.
Wow but the phone was vibrating
I absolutely have no had my phone in contact with water what so ever. Occasionally I would plug it to charge and I would get a water warning but it was brief. I thought it odd, but wasn't having any trouble with my phone till 6 days ago. Suddenly it wouldn't charge and died. I ordered a new phone which has not arrived and I got desperate and started watching youtube fixes. I used a clean tooth brush on its charge port and then plugged in and it started charging so I thought it was fixed till it wasn't. I only had 6% battery at this point so I shut it off. Then I found this video. Turned it on and tried the clear cache method and now it is very slowly charging. I'm so hoping this has solved the issue. Sharing my experience in case it might help someone else. Thanks for this tutorial.
Thanks after reading your comment I did the same. Cleared cache memory and now it charging.
I was worried earlier.
It's surely Samsung's problem.
This happened to me while holidaying in India. It started showing the water drop icon and wouldn't charge except for wireless charging. Came back to UK and started charging on its Own.
Very weird behaviour.
its the enviroment maybe....the humidity plays a role here
@@pinkninja9649 as if samsung phones doesn't work in india due to this? lost brain cells?
It has happened in many important occasions. It's one of the reasons I am switching to iPhone. Fix it Samsung, it shows moisture detection even when there is nothing leaving my phone uncharged for dozens of hours!!! Stupidly super annoying feature!
Yeah ! So annoying :(
iphone doesn't have better hardware & is more overpriced. but if you want to waste money, go ahead
Dont buy samsung anymore very stupid the software

The powerbutton tricks did not work for me (does not mean it won't work for you), what worked for me is: disabled all battery saving, cleared usb cache, enabled fast charging, disabled fast charging, plugged in, phone is charging normally with no warning. Thanks for all tips!
My A54 suddenly started with this after software update. Tried everything and it went away for a few hours and I could charge my phone. Now it is back and even if the notification is gone, my phone doesn't charge! It shows the battery charging icon ⚡ but it doesn't get battery power. It's on 23 and after an hour of charging it still on 23 as if this darn software is preventing it to charge! Phone is 2months old!

The fact that the software forces your phone not to charge is ridiculous, its my phone that I paid for you should not stop me from trying to charge it, a warning is all it should be. Never buying a Samsung again.
what do you do if none of these work?
I have a way to charge it, mine does that too.
Hold down the power button and the volume down button until it turns off, when it does that it will manually turn back on and after that if it still doesn't charge, just restart it and plug it in right after the samsung logo first disappears.
Once it's on go to setting and look up fast charging, toggle it off, it'll charge more often without the water warning .

absolute nonsense. this has happened to me 4 times, and out of those 4 times, only 2 involved water. at least make an "emergency override" option!!
fun fact: those other 2 times were me waking up in the middle of the night (1st time 4 am, 2nd time 6 am) and forgetting to plug it in. no water at all, or i drool or shed tears in my sleep.
This nonsense has persuaded me that my next phone will be an Apple one. "Nobody knows our purchases choices like we do"
There is no such setting on S10+

Another way big corporations trying to make you buy new devices (for the cycle to repeat on the new ones too). Nearly my whole family have had this issues. All Samsungs phone and all not even being in a wet/moisture environment. Disgrace and something Samsung should fix. The other bad thing, on Samsung trade-ins they devalue the product because it claims to have water damage.
Terrible customer care by them.
This is the most annoying "feature" Samsung implemented on their devices... at least give us the option to dismiss ignore it/not completely make our device unusable by not letting us charge. Ridiculous.
What is the use of Ip68 water resistant then ?
This is insane. Trying to charge my phone for 2 days. Nothing worked. This stupid feature is totally useless
So, not only are none of these steps available for my phone(A34), it's been nowhere NEAR water in the 1.5 years I owned it, it's been blasted with a hairdryer for 20 minutes, then left in the sun for 4 hours with a fan blowing on it once a day for 2 days, *YA STILL WON'T LET ME CHARGE.* Guess I'll take this no-wireless charge paperweight and fornicate a sandpaper phallus.
I have this water detection SCAM on my A54, it is not wet and nothing in the port and this model can't be wirelessly charged. This is how Samsung lose long time customers like me.
Why is this still not fixed? I see people having same issues 8 months ago.
When I plug my charger instead of chargning I get moisture icon and can't charge. Annoying af when you are on 10% battery.
