As a net engineer, I'm a bit disappointed you didn't go for a more professional solution like ubiquiti. WT fast seems like a pure marketing gimmick. But good to see some network related content. 👍
Yep, I think this kind of mesh works best when u take advantage of an old Asus router that u might have laying around to use as a node. For what I understand. Asus released firmware updates for lots of different models. Even really old ones. So they work like this. Of course u most likely gonna lose the AX standard. But its a more viable solution. Now. If u gonna spend big bucks on a mesh network. I'm with u haha
Next on how they got hacked. Like he makes his money over the internet and has " such a network". I would have accepted a bit more professional ... wel everything on his network... Trow this link on a hacker site and and no content for at least a weak if they keep it nice and don't come in and mess with the devices attached...

Dude its 200KB/s not 200kb/ps. "/" is per already, so what you wrote means 200kb per per sec which doesn't make any sense. Also you should mention it in mbps cause that's the standard of showing speeds. And in case you want to write in Bytes, it has to be a captial B since small b is bits.

0:41 Oh hey that black router looks exactly like the one I got from AT&T. I hope you changed from the default password since you showed the yellow sticker on the side now.
@@crazysel4475 I mean unless you count Comcast's Gigabit Pro service (metro 10G connection with 2G bandwidth cap), xfinity is in now way faster than AT&T, after all, they use DOCSIS 3.1 and AT&T uses (10)GPON. One technology is just simply better than the other (Tough I must say that especially in Europe there are some ISPs delivering good speeds and stability over DOCSIS 3.1)
@mharris1270 or you could just buy a 1000ft box of cat 6a cable, a punch down tool and some keystones so you can just pull the wire and cut at the appropriate length. You will also have lots of cable left for future projects
I've upgraded my wifi router yesterday, before I had a cheap TP link router. I thought it's just no need to get a new router, this is fine. I was having 50mbps and I bought a netgear nighthawk x6s and now my speed is 450mbps if I'm located in the same room as router or 350-400 in other rooms. Never thought it would be this high
*Optional video title* : _My WIFI can not transmit 4K on 8 devices at the same time_ AKA first world problems ... Meanwhile in Honduras: crying and suffering with 3 computers, 3 telephones, 720p in all and a connection limit of 10MB (1Mbps)
10Mbps and 1MBps (actually 1.25MBps), not the other way round. MB = megabyte = 8 megabit (most people don't use this to measure internet speed) and Mb = megabit.
I just did the same thing last week. The far side of my house was having trouble getting a wifi signal so I bought a bigger stronger faster router. I was glad to ALSO get a noticeable speed boost as well as the distance-coverage.
I watched the video, thought 'Oh this is really cool, I could do this as well (I live in a 3 story house)' > Checks the price OMFG over $300 per router!? Yup, my free router from the ISP is good enough
lol yeah that price is insane man. If you need coverage though check out the Netgear Orbi or Eero Mesh systems. Can usually get 3 nodes for about $300 when on sale. Also, if your home isn't wired with Ethernet, you can use your existing coaxial wiring for use with internet, MoCA units (multimedia over Coax) if you use Cable TV service and DECA units if you have Satellite TV service.
I think his point is the speed increase is a by-product of the new tech. Try using his original setup in a WFH situation with multiple video calls for 2 working parents and 2+ kids. It would be incredibly frustrating at that point. AX is brilliant at handling that kind of traffic, and a mesh system, even using the less efficient wireless node mode, is a huge improvement. If he clarified that you don't need to spend that much on the routers to achieve similar results, I doubt the comments would be the same. The AX-55s are about $120 each right now, and results would be similar in a smaller home. He could probably have bought 3 of those and covered more ground. The AX88U is overkill unless you're also in need of the 8 LAN ports they offer. Ultimately, the ISP speed is going to be the big bottleneck no matter what. If he never changed his internet package before setting this up, that Blue Cave was throttling speeds to an absurd number. Going from 60-250MBps requires more than the router IMO.
Got a new 70qm² apartment a few weeks ago and had the same problem. My modem with built in wifi (avm fritzbox 6490) was in one corner of the house and after just one room the connection got so bad, I couldn't even play a plain music stream. Got an avm repeater with ac (I don't need high speeds in my kitchen, just a decent connection) and now everything is working. But concrete with a lot of wires and pipes inside isn't the best type of wall for wlan.
@ImBad dude i get 350 down 300 up on a 5g wifi connect. Walls are bad. One is ok. 3 is bad. Boosters/multiple router connections =good. Im jus usin 1 doeees. Still. 300mbps thru an exterior wall. Aint too shabby
Two of these ASUS AX88U cost 700$. You can get 5 UniFi AP AC PRO and a cheap Switch for that money. And no one needs WiFi 6 currently so what’s the point
@@PascalSignifica Yeah I've currently got the EdgeRouter X with a single UniFi AP AC LR covering both floors of my home and haven't run into a single issue. Thinking of getting a USG soon. Used to be a nightmare getting reliable coverage using traditional APs. Also use their Rockets, Nanobeams/powerbeams etc in work and they're rock solid. I hate the way consumer-oriented devices try to disguise features with flashy brand names, with ubiquiti there's no BS. you get what you see and have full control. Also god bless SQM
I have WiFi-dependent devices at home. I might be away for weeks at a time and need to communicate with them. A mesh network (or repeater) that drops after a week is useless to me, because I'm not in the house to fix it. Can you comment on the ability of ASUS repeaters and/or AiMesh nodes to remain up for weeks at a time with no human intervention? This would include automatically recovering from power failures. Thanks!
@5:40 slow down on the connections So after you updated the firmware somehow, you connect the first ASUS router to your PC = is that just an Ethernet cable from a NIC port on the router to the NIC port on your computer? If that's the black wire, then what's the white cable plugged into the back of the ASUS router? Where does it go to ? And then you set up the primary mesh router @6:43 you're going to set up the 2nd ASUS as the node = 1. pull our "broadband connection" ??? where did THAT cable come from ? 2. the black Ethernet cable is that the one that went between your PC and the 1st ASUS router and you unplugged it from the 1st and plugged it into the 2nd? I am curious where your INTERNET router is at this point - the one provided by your ISP (or do they provide one to you in the US) Was that the router with the blue light you showed us? Is it doing anything during all this? Is it in the loop or required in any way because that's where the internet comes from right? PS Canada at Amazon.ca the RT-AX88U is $477 x 2 = $954
I pay for gigabit from my cable company, up to 1000mbps downstream and up to 50 Mbps upstream. I use Orbi AX6000 3 point mesh. I get an average, after 50 speedtests, of 920 Mbps down on my iPhone 11 Pro Max and 50.7 Mbps upstream. Wired from the cable modem to my pc directly I get 972.3 Mbps downstream and 51.7 upstream. So the WiFi mesh system is unbelievably efficient! Weirdly enough I actually get slightly more upload than advertised.
How does one do this when they use their data to tether to their pc. I've been getting 7 mb/s down and around 190 ping on csgo on average. - A concerned fan

I just bought the 12 stream Nighthawk AX router and it has changed my life. I went from having 1 AC router + 2 range extenders to just the one router and my hose is over 3000 sq ft. I'm getting 650 Mhz down from outside of my house. Get yourself a wifi 6 router!

Xfinity is faster than AT&T but its not in every State
@@crazysel4475 I mean unless you count Comcast's Gigabit Pro service (metro 10G connection with 2G bandwidth cap), xfinity is in now way faster than AT&T, after all, they use DOCSIS 3.1 and AT&T uses (10)GPON. One technology is just simply better than the other (Tough I must say that especially in Europe there are some ISPs delivering good speeds and stability over DOCSIS 3.1)

If you want to get Ethernet in a specific spot but don’t want to rip up your walls to put a long Ethernet cable in, buy some powerline adapters

10Mbps and 1MBps (actually 1.25MBps), not the other way round. MB = megabyte = 8 megabit (most people don't use this to measure internet speed) and Mb = megabit.
Forget the mesh wifi, I want that 77" LG C9 OLED!
Now you can have dinner with your router, while having good WiFi reception!

better yet, he can use the heat from his router to keep his bread/tortillas/rolls warm too!
I just did the same thing last week. The far side of my house was having trouble getting a wifi signal so I bought a bigger stronger faster router. I was glad to ALSO get a noticeable speed boost as well as the distance-coverage.
"Paul you've never looked so good" 😂😂😂😂
I watched the video, thought 'Oh this is really cool, I could do this as well (I live in a 3 story house)'

OMFG over $300 per router!? Yup, my free router from the ISP is good enough
lol yeah that price is insane man. If you need coverage though check out the Netgear Orbi or Eero Mesh systems. Can usually get 3 nodes for about $300 when on sale. Also, if your home isn't wired with Ethernet, you can use your existing coaxial wiring for use with internet, MoCA units (multimedia over Coax) if you use Cable TV service and DECA units if you have Satellite TV service.
Meanwhile, tries to play online game: has to turn off every other wifi connected device and still lags all the time...
Well you got routers down, now maybe some furniture sponsors. Lol
I have a question are your graphs saying you got an additional(extra) increase in speed, or a straight up(whole) percentage increase in speed?
Kyle, you didn't need another router.
You already have the best wifi.

At 3:15 Kyle mentions the OFDMA and the way he describes it makes me think of it in one simple way: It's firewire but for your wifi
You have 6 instances of 4k playback going on at once... This was the only way to bottleneck your network speed.. Lol.

I just hate this consumer networking gear. A couple of Unifi APs aren’t even expensive and perform way better and consistent...
definitely. ubiquiti all the way.
Yep doesn't even have to be Ubiquti, I can't stand that consumer stuff also without VLAN support multiple SSIDs, firewall rules, etc
Two of these ASUS AX88U cost 700$. You can get 5 UniFi AP AC PRO and a cheap Switch for that money. And no one needs WiFi 6 currently so what’s the point
Jack Sweeney VLANs are just a thing of beauty even for home networks 😅 Might me overkill but separating a bit is always a good idea
Thanks!
@5:40 slow down on the connections
So after you updated the firmware somehow, you connect the first ASUS router to your PC = is that just an Ethernet cable from a NIC port on the router to the NIC port on your computer? If that's the black wire, then what's the white cable plugged into the back of the ASUS router? Where does it go to ?
And then you set up the primary mesh router
@6:43 you're going to set up the 2nd ASUS as the node =
1. pull our "broadband connection" ??? where did THAT cable come from ?
2. the black Ethernet cable is that the one that went between your PC and the 1st ASUS router and you unplugged it from the 1st and plugged it into the 2nd?
I am curious where your INTERNET router is at this point - the one provided by your ISP (or do they provide one to you in the US) Was that the router with the blue light you showed us? Is it doing anything during all this? Is it in the loop or required in any way because that's where the internet comes from right?
PS Canada at Amazon.ca the RT-AX88U is $477 x 2 = $954
This video alone improved my WiFi by almost 200%. It's a miracle!
7:59 "SSID : I hope this works" hahahaha
Nice realistic test there...I currently have 27 4K streams and this phone buffers for a couples of seconds...unacceptable lol
