There's a real post-Get Hurt vibe to pretty every song on the new album. Lots of subtle references to Halloween in particular. This makes me happy. When I came back to it years later (in the process of getting divorce) I came to the conclusion that Get Hurt was an absolute masterpiece. It was just so different tonally to their other albums, it didn't get the reception it deserved.
Song was debuted in Grand Rapids, MI on 9/16. It’s about the book The Virgin Suicides, and it’s named Michigan 1975 because the book takes place in Michigan in 1975.
Such a brilliant band, I am so happy they are back together. I fell in love with them when they supported Bruce Springsteen in Hyde Park in 2009. You can see my friend & i on the DVD when Brian joins Bruce on stage to sing No Surrender. I am really liking the new stuff, my favourite is still History Books 📚.
Autumn is another great song...of many.. Michigan 75' beautiful but cryptic so that Virgin suicide's deal must be the inspiration...??? Ive never watched it or read the book, so alot of people are pretty sure because of the release of the book in 75, or is it based on real shit if so? Ive got some quick 1hr reading to do! Love the new album...a shot in the arm for sure. !!!
Holy shit, this song hit me. This entire album sounds great so far. Can't wait to hear the rest. Thank God for TGA.
Freakin fell in love with this song. Pure Gaslight bliss.

So true!
Underneath the ground and have mercy are such brutal and beautiful songs.
@@mitchaelhollingsworth1698 Criminally underrated songs and album!
Great album. He compared it to a pearl jam album once possibly no code bc it was different than their usual material
Get hurt was an amazing album , a straight 9/10 ...second only to the 59 sound ..an unbeatable 10/10 .
Brian/Gaslight Anthem never writes lyrics or musically composes a bad song. This may be one of the best written.
Thanks for uploading, Mary.
This is fantastic , can't wait for the album .
I was there, this was so cool!
