It’s very clear that they needed to take a break and then start over after End Game. A few wrap-up movies, sure. But to try to restart a whole narrative… they rushed it with hubris. I would love a Fantastic 4 that is not beholden or connected to anything else. Followed by new X-men also not connected. And if they both do well and there’s an actual plan for it, then connect those together. But they needed to give the MCU a respectful funeral like they did Tony. Not parade the carcass around d like Bernie. They forgot Vison’s wisdom- A thing is not beautiful because it lasts.
Very well said! We certainly all have our opinions. I’m of the belief that the MCU can still make it another 5 years or so. Maybe a soft reboot after Secret Wars. My biggest concern with a complete reboot is us getting a retelling of a lot of origins that we’ve already seen countless times.
Origins can be tweaked. Different angles can be taken. Who would've thought we could have a whole new aspect to explore in Batman's origin when Batman Begins came out?
Fantastic Four would still be the perfect place to start over, and the comment is right when you restart the first films can stand alone. Iron Man worked because the only universe building was in the post-credits.
@comicbookcinema It's when you have a big pile of crappy writing in the tank that you have to stop trying to hand-wave, retcon, and paste together. You gotta start over.
@@danjr19 The DCEU needed to be rebooted. Too many films that weren’t liked and lots of bad writing. I don’t think the MCU is there yet… But, they are teetering.
I think a reboot is a good idea. Now normally I’m against a reboot but with the current mcu they can really benefit off a reboot. A reboot means that u don’t have to get a writer and use a bunch of mental gymnastics to explain where the x-men and mutants have been because they have always been here. A reboot means u don’t have to explain where the F4 have been because they have always been here. A reboot means u get a new avengers(iron man, captain America, Thor, Hawkeye, black widow, etc) so now u can do a proper avengers vs x-men. A reboot means a brand new hulk because If Disney is planning a new hulk movie, it wouldn’t sell if ruffalo is playing because of the amount of damage has been done to his version of the hulk. A reboot means a new tchalla. I’ll u have to do is write a way to keep Tom holland Spider-Man. And so outside of Tom holland Spider-Man and Charlie cox daredevil there’s nothing really in the current mcu that’s really so important that a reboot is not justified. Blade ? Hasn’t really been introduced yet so u can just have blade in the reboot and keep mahirsha Ali to play him. Captain marvel ? Lol( and I actually like captain marvel) but u can easily just get a new actress in a reboot. Moon knight ? Can easily say that the events of moon knight still happened in the reboot. The list goes on. All u would really need to do is for characters that are not gonna appear in a reboot a proper conclusion. So hemsworth Thor for example have his character conclude in Thor 5, dr strange concludes in secret wars, etc
I would also like to also add in this. With a reboot u don’t have to do that many projects for alot of characters. I’ll u would have to make is Spider-Man, avengers, x-men, fantastic 4, and maybe black panther movies. Spider-Man gets his own solo movies Wolverine cyclops jean grey storm are the main 4 of the x-men movies along with prof x. So there is no need to make a solo wolverine movie when most of his character arcs are gonna be in x-men movies Avengers will have captain America iron man Thor and hulk. All 4 of them don’t need solo movies u can just have most of their character arcs in the avengers movies. Fantastic 4 no need to explain. Black panther gets a solo movie cause you know representation is important and u wanna market off of a leading black super hero having his own movie. And this makes it VERY EASY for new comers because they only need to watch like 7 movies. Spider-Man, avengers, x-men, fantastic 4, black panther, and 2 or 3 movies about other newer lesser known characters like blade, the inhumans, nova, etc
They need a hard reboot with time in between. There's just too many superhero films and it's been this way for over a decade. "How can I miss you if you don't go away?"
@@hermonymusofsparta No doubt. I went through the dark ages in the 90’s to the late 00’s with little to no comic book movies. I think the biggest problem is mediocrity and it’s a lot of the recent comic book movies and shows. And cramming political agendas in certainly doesn’t help either…
The time should be built in because if you're going to reboot, it needs to be done with a whole new creative team from the top down. No point in the same people retelling the stories. They wouldn't be different enough to be worthwhile.
I just looked it up so this may not be completely accurate. We're 33 movies, 8 TV series, and 2 specials into the MCU. That's WAY to much homework for a new viewer and they aren't big on making jumping on points that I can see. So all you have is the original, die hard, fans to sell to. There's a natural rate of attrition for a situation like that and all they seem capable of doing right now is accelerating it by alienating large swathes of those fans with every new project. At the same time, every new project adds to the back story barrier for new viewers.
That back catalog of films and shows is definitely intimidating for a new-comer. I can’t personally imagine watching Infinity War or Endgame without seeing all the films before it. But, some say that it’s possible to do so and still enjoy the movies. 🤷🏻♂️ Deadpool 3 will probably be another easily accessible film for casuals.
Disagree with the take on Wanda Vision. The show did not end with her redemption. She kidnapped and tortured a whole town and then just left. The final shot we get is her being corrupted by the Darkhold and hearing her fake kids. Definitely no closure on her grief or anger. Wanda Vision was 100% required reading for MoM, but they just tried to hand wave it away. “I’m not here to talk about that.” And why wasn’t the FIRST thing Wanda did was try to find the resurrected Vision? You know, the guy she loved so much that she kidnapped and tortured a whole town to play house with? As a stand alone story MoM is enjoyable, but it was terrible at trying to continue a larger story.
The Wandavision post-credit is really what established her starting to dabble with the Darkhold and searching for her make believe children. The conclusion of the actual show was really a redemptive arc for her character (even if it was dumb and didn’t make sense). It definitely would have made more sense for Wanda to search for the White Vision instead of her kids that never existed… 🤔
@@keleynal4424I don't know, after Secret Invasion we have not one, but two Super Skrulls with all of Wanda's power in edition to every other power we've ever seen and maybe a few yet to be imagined in all of fiction.

I just don't see how they poop out two more Avengers films. They're out of Avengers! You've got: Spider-man, not an Avenger, The FF, not Avengers, the X-Men, not Avengers (with possible exception of Beast), Dr. Strange, not an Avenger, at least not traditionally.
