Marvel's What If Season 2 | Review

Marvel's What If Season 2 | Review
23:25 Exactly this. They've ran through all the best characters and stories. They need a long break, and then a reboot.
@@NerdChamps They haven’t used the Fantastic Four or the X-Men… Those teams both used to be way more popular than the Avengers. They have plenty of story to tell. The X-Men alone could be an entire phase of the MCU.
@comicbookcinema Fox already did the X-Men and they did them pretty well. The best new and novel thing Marvel could do with them is have them interact with the rest of their characters, but those characters are gone. The X-Men could be a good starting point for a whole new continuity.
Thunderbolts COULD be good but it won't matter. It will fail at the box office.
@@NerdChamps Minimum $600 million
@@comicbookcinemaTo turn a profit?
@comicbookcinema Because Thunderbolts won't break $300. The Marvel name alone doesn't sell tickets anymore, and Thunderbolts has nothing else to sell them.
I'd much rather have an Agatha show than a show for a more popular character. They need to STOP introducing good characters into THIS continuity!
It's like they don't realize they can't keep this single narrative going forever.
@@danjr19 they just need to stop the continuity.
@timcollins2471 They're a full-fledged studio now, so they have to churn out something. I'd rather that be low-profile stuff because they really need to have an absence before a reboot.
@@danjr19 I think things are going to scale back a lot post-Secret Wars… Just calm down, guys.
@@comicbookcinemaThat's a lot of garbage between now and then.
Introducing untapped characters into this continuity is wasted energy. I want to see these characters interact with Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, etc. They're all gone or soon to be gone.
@@NerdChamps You have always used this point, but it’s a good one… I have heard rumblings that we are still potentially going to get a Ruffalo Hulk Vs. Hugh Wolverine movie… That would be epic
@comicbookcinema The Hulk rights are just so sticky. It would have to be titled as a Wolverine movie or they'd have to give Universal some of the distribution.
They have the first two bombs lined up for your already! You'll have them both by May!
At this point, Cap 4 has a massive uphill battle ahead of them… I think they have to make $500 million just to break even, and that might not happen… 😂
@comicbookcinema I've seen speculation that the box office will have to hit $700 - 800 at the box office to break even. Of course we'll never know for sure.
Lol
TJ is Punisher 🔥
The Punisher GOAT 🐐
I don't think it's failing. I just think the current continuity has run its course and clinging to something that has had a natural wrap up is not beneficial.
Just like the comics, it’s never ending! 😂 Now we do multiverse and later something else!
@@comicbookcinema exactly. The biggest crime these studios commit is not knowing when a story has gone as far as it can go. Reintroducing actors as different characters has similar desperation to soap opera evil twins. It's time to just move on to a different continuity.
@@timcollins2471 I partially agree with you on this. I definitely think bringing RDJ back as Doctor Doom is desperate, but I’m curious to see how Secret Wars pans out. I also think RDJ will only be back for the next two Avenger films. Marvel can’t afford to have him back for more movies than that. I also think they will massively scale things back after Secret Wars. Just trust in my boy, Feige. 😂
@comicbookcinema Eventually, when things get this bad, the comics reboot. The need for reboots comes faster in live action films because not all actors are immortal vampires like Hugh Jackman, and they can't play the same superhero for 40 years.
@@comicbookcinemaFeige is a Bob Iger stooge. I'm more convinced every day Ike Perlmuter was the secret to the MCU's success.
I agree with you that MCU needs to step up but they have the right pieces .
They have always had the right pieces. They have the best source material in the world to base their movies off of! 😁
@@comicbookcinema I would say DC comics have more characters to make masterpiece with. Like pretty much every batman villain can have their own movies and the Anitimonitor is my favorite dc character.
@@LuxersMultiverse2090 I’m hopeful and optimistic about the future of the new DCU with James Gunn in charge. 🙏🏻
Pedro played unlikable character in the Equalizer and also played funny character , too. I think he is the perfect casting .
I’m rooting for him. I hope he’s great as Mr. Fantastic. 🙏🏻 He definitely has the potential to be a great Reed. I just hope they don’t make Reed too much like Tony Stark
I thought Sam Captain AMerica is the best written character in the MCU . If you look at his journey , he is the most consistent character in term of themes, belief etc..
Yeah… Sam is a great character. I just don’t see why in the comics and now in the movies, they feel like they need to slap the Captain America label on him to make him feel more important. 🤷🏻♂️ I think the Falcon character is just as valuable without the rebrand.
@@comicbookcinema Yes , he is . I like how good of a man he is .
Legacy versions of heroes are just not my favorite. And generally, the public doesn't care for them either. If they don't buy Dick Grayson as Batman, then they won't buy anyone else.
@@timcollins2471 Right… Bruce Wayne is Batman & Steve Rodgers is Captain America. It doesn’t suddenly elevate these other characters to take the mantle of a more popular hero.
100%
I always thought we were seeing The Joker through Harley's perspective. So he's an attractive bad boy who loves her, I never thought it was the "real" Joker for the Snyderverse. It makes the whole interpretation of the character make sense and explains most of his actions. Harley is delusional. I always wanted an almost jump scare moment when you see the real Joker in this universe, made up dofferently, different inflection and has no idea who Harley is (or uses/tolerates her).
Wow… I have never thought about that possibility, but that is so cool and interesting. 🤔
Leto was cosplaying Marilyn Manson
Pretty much. 😂 Definitely a DIFFERENT take
The dude who doesnt like hamill as luke skywalker can go fk himself
Henry Cavill is "the greatest Superman of all time"? WTF are you on, and can you give me some of it? Even Gen-Z kids would agree on Christopher Reeve. Cavill is cool, but the writing was so shit he can't even rank third or fourth. as a Superman. Chris Reeve, then Tyler Hoechlin, George Reeves, and Dean Cain (even though Cain is a total dick in real life). Cavill is a great guy, but he was handed a terrible Superman and a terrible Clark.
I don’t really include the quality of the films he was in when I rank his portrayal. Mostly just his acting chops and the way he looks in the suit. But, to be fair… I like Man of Steel a lot more than most. 🤷🏻♂️ Everyone has a different opinion though. Thanks for watching and sharing yours! 😁👍🏻
JL was great in his own right, WB screwed up SS and WB cut off Snyder at the knees way too early and made him rush BvS etc but whatever…. What could have been 🤷🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🥺
There was definitely a lot of potential in the DCEU. I hate to see it deleted, but I’m also excited and hopeful about the new DCU! 😁
yes it did
😂
I need Old Man Joker.
This is something I have never thought about until Joker’s Anarchy brought this up on this episode, but it could be pretty awesome… 🤔
@@comicbookcinemaRead Batman/Catwoman by Tim King.
Yeah with Hamill
Love Leto's Joker, because in my head Joker/Harley story works better as Bonny/Clyde story - of evil toxic romace, but modern sensitivity reading wokies can't stand possibility of such thing, feminism + Pride Month propaganda, meanwhile they dissing good men left and right, promoting OF workers and douchbag men, irony hits hard
I think Jerid did a great job with a poor movie that wasn't his fault. They just didn't give him a good Joker script and his stick-on tattoos.
The tattoos were a big part of the problem. Especially the forehead tattoo. 😂
Gangster/sadistic leto versus knightmare joker was better to me. I don't think we got enough of the gangster and the rewrites of dialogue made his joker seem odd like that hunka hunka line didn't seem something ayer would have let go and changed if it wasn't changed/mandated with notes from executives
Yeah. We didn’t bring up some of his cringy dialogue like “hunka hunka” 😂 But, I agree. I definitely preferred the gansta version over the nightmare version.
Hell nah letos joker had alot of references to the actual joker from the comics . And don't forget he's the only one who technically killed a Robin. Boom mic drop lol 😊
Where would you rank Jarid Leto’s version?
I dont hate it tbh. If the joker was in the real world hed probably be more like letos😂
You might be right. 🤷🏻♂️
@@comicbookcinemano , he's not right at all
Yes…yes it did.
😂 That’s definitely how most people feel.
If this version of Joker was a no-name instead of a heralded actor like Leto, it would universally be considered the worst of the group.
You might be right, Tim… 🤔 He’s pretty much at the bottom for me. I DID appreciate that they tried to do something different, but overall it wasn’t even close to being good. 😂🤷🏻♂️
@@comicbookcinema they wanted something completely different from recent versions. But they missed the boat on so many key aspects of the character.
@@timcollins2471 Yep… The “Damaged” tattoo on the forehead definitely wasn’t a great start. 😂
Still ranks above Phoenix in that this is actually a version of the Joker.
@@DanJohnsonJr-h9p That’s your opinion and your interpretation. 🤷🏻♂️ I completely disagree
Remove the stupid forehead tattoo and hes easily a 9 for me with the tattoo is probably a 6 thats just how bad it is
Yeah… The tattoo certainly doesn’t do him any favors. 😂
It works for any joker adaptation really, write “chaos” on Ledger’s head and I’d hate that one too.
@@1morecuppo Right… 😂 At some point you would think someone in the creative department at Warner Bros would have spoke up and said: “Does anyone else think this is freakin stupid or is it just me?”
@@comicbookcinema No one wanted to admit they didn't think face tattoos were cool and look old.
@@DanJohnsonJr-h9p 😂 Face tattoos aren’t cool no matter how old you are.
John's Punisher is like any regular holywood hero, not a superhero.
Why do i like 19s movies then 20s movies😂😂
Angilo executing Leto on site 🤣
😂😂😂 Yeah. Definitely no love lost there. He had potential… I just don’t know if it was ever fully realized.
Jonathan, you need to talk to someone about your Cavil crush.
He was literally made for the role of Superman
@comicbookcinema And, apparently, your hall pass list. 😉
"Man of Steel is a great movie." That can not go unchallenged!
Films are subjective. Nothing you can say or do will make me like it less. Doesn’t change the fact that we can argue about it on RUclips, though! 😂
This can not and WILL not stand!
@NerdChamps so whatcha gonna do about it sir
@@trevpanda852 Keep spreading the good word! Man of Steel is not great! It's not even good! It doesn't even feature a character that is in any way recognizable as Superman, other than visually.
@NerdChamps okay so by that logic is Christopher Nolans batman also very bad since his batman isn't to accurate either? Like I get they come from a source aka comic aka literal paper pages but I believe when they adapted this superman they really tried to get away from the mcu feel and create their own which is more grounded then compared to mcu, yes I know it doesn't mean it's a good movie or even a great one but I think personally it's a good take on superman like I mean it was the beginning of his heroism ofc he's not perfect or up to your standards he was only beginning with being the man the people needed but I respect your opinion and I agree they could've done so much better with the coloring and making the movie feel more alive and hopeful like how his world looks
The future? You ain't got no future, Jack!
Classic line from the third best joker 😎
@comicbookcinema If you think Nicholson is third, you're an A 1 nut boy, and Grissam knows it!
@@NerdChamps At best... Phoenix and Ledger are in a different league.
@comicbookcinema Yeah, Phoenix is in the never played the Joker league. The, played a random nut case in a film meant as an insult league.
@@NerdChamps I think you are more delusional than Phoenix’s character in that movie, Dan! 😂
Yes
😂
Big no thanks to jewy jewstein punisher
Yeah , he made a complete fool out of himself on that one
This video is a totally false - Mark doesn't speak like that - he sounds more like Gene Hackman 😂
😂😂😂 He kinda sounded like Gene Hackman? 🤷🏻♂️
@@comicbookcinema Yes, Gene Hackman voiced Mark's lines in Superman 4. There's still buildings and locations in England where the film was shot.
@@GavinScrimgeour That’s cool. Yeah, this movie holds a special place in my heart. I grew up watching this all the time. I always thought Nuclear Man was the coolest looking super villian when I was a kid.
@@comicbookcinema There's a RUclips video showing all the locations. I remember seeing the film at the cinema and have since watched it. To be honest it was rushed and underfunded. You can see loads of mistakes in the film too 🫣
@@GavinScrimgeour Oh yeah… Their budget was cut in half before production began supposedly… This film could have been so much better. I personally still love Mark Pillow’s interpretation of Nuclear Man.
Looks wise hed be a good constantine
Todd Phillips is MAD at all of you that he ever had to make a Joker movie in the first place.
Probably true 😂
I knew it would flop… when I had no interest. I’m so run of the mill and average and I knew once I wasn’t interested…..
ugggg

First Joker 8/10 Second one 2/10
That’s how most people feel… You could really see that the director and star weren’t fans of the comic books and didn’t want to make a third movie
@comicbookcinema They didn't want to make a first or second movie. They've been desperately trying to insult fanboys the whole time. They're probably furious there are small pockets left who don't get that they're being disrespected.
@@NerdChamps I disagree with you about the first film. It was obviously something Todd Phillips and Joaquin Phoenix were passionate about. You wouldn’t know though, you haven’t seen the movie! 😂
@comicbookcinema I know plenty. They were passionate about making a lame remake of Martin Scorsese's The King Of Comedy starring DeNiro and Jerry Lewis because that's their idea of being original, but in 2019, no one will buy a ticket to THAT. No one will buy a ticket to an ACTUAL Martin Scorsese movie, so the studio made them shoehorn a character called "Joker" into it.
@comicbookcinema You weren't supposed to like it. Fanboys were supposed to hate it. They consider all of us immature, incels, just like Arthur. We're not supposed to be able to grasp the emotional complexity of something as deep as a cheap ripoff of a 37, now 41 year old film.
Wow who is that clown there with you?? 🤣
agree, not as bad as the internet dorks are saying.... 7 outta 10 for me
All film is subjective… 🤷🏻♂️
