I love how grid-like the chinese characters look in the text box. Very aesthetically pleasing

@ZacheroniAndCheese T Chinese and Korean both have a wider text box than the other language printings of 4th Edition, which I find appealing. Korean holds a special place in my heart, but I love all of the Asian language printings for 4th Edition. I use Japanese basics for my Standard decks.

This is nostalgic for me as a player from 93-98 here in Philippines, while everyones playing and buying modern,i just made 2 modern decks and focused on old-school,simply because i love them and feels like 90s all over again 🙏😊

Old school Magic really is the best! 😄

I love collecting Chinese traditional cards! I use this printing of lightning bolts in my modern deck

@loxeggcheese NICE! I collect Korean cards, but I pick up Chinese and Japanese pretty often too. Let me know if you're ever interested in trading 😄

I'm surprised that the Animate Dead retained its skeleton art for the Chinese market. Depictions of skeletons is very taboo in Chinese culture and because of this any foreign media that contains them are usually altered to remove/censor them.

@Vanny_Dorito that started around 5th Edition if I remember correctly. There are several cards that have alternate art for Chinese markets

@@petespacks Interesting, yeah I've only ever seen Chinese alt art in these cases so it caught me off guard. It's easy to forget that '95 was near 30 years ago. Didn't have the same access to instant information like we do today and I'm willing to bet WOTC just didn't know about the taboo until they likely got some negative feedback regarding the skeletons.

Exactly, 4th Edition was the first set printed in Chinese.

Nice opening. 4th Edition is epic, i love those cards, even they are not powerful anymore. So which were the Rares? Xenic Poltergeist, Magical Hack, and Living Land (Had to laugh so hard when you said Moss Monster 😀) are the three Rares. Animate Dead (not Raise Dead) and Fellwar as Uncommon are good. The Common also especially Lightning Bolt, but also Llanowar. But a weird pack indeed. Not hosed, but clearly picked. $75 is not breakeven, but the nostalgic value is huge. Are the cards in Mint condition bytheway, or are they played?

@TheCaptainCruise ok, to be fair Moss Monster and Living Land have VERY similar art and casting costs! 😂 But, you're absolutely right Moss Monster was in Legends and was not one of the cards reprinted in 4th. I mix up names for Raise Dead and Animate Dead all of the time, but I remember the correct effects based on the art, so it's all good.
They're NM. I paid 75 for the box, the 4BB prices are a lot higher than regular 4th and I definitely did better than break even on it based on last sold listings on TCGPlayer.

@TheCaptainCruise Definitely a modified pack, but it was probably done quite some time ago, and there are 4 Rares (Dancing Scimitar, Living Land, Magical Hack, and Xenic Poltergeist), 10 Uncommons, 29 Commons, and 16 Basic Land, 59 total. It should have been 3/9/26/22 for a total of 60.
It looks like there were some white cards replaced with green or red ones, and the Islands and Swamps are missing.
I enumerated everything in a decklist on my Moxfield here: www.moxfield.com/decks/lWgiodcvVkGQTPTxGnHSrA

@@petespacks Yes the art is very similar. It was meant laughing in good faith! NM is nice, good deal after all then.

@@petespacks Odd to take our Swamps and Islands. And Dancing Scimitar is a rare, wow i totally overlooked that one!

@TheCaptainCruise oh, once you pointed it out I was laughing at me too! 😂 I took it as being all in good fun. The FBB/4BB Islands and Swamps were pretty popular for a while, they got up to around $25 each for a few years before WotC started flooding us with full art lands. At the time the Mountains were only 10, and Plains/Forests were 3-5, I can see why they would pull them.
I put everything in a Moxfield list and it came up to 177, but several cards don't have pricing data, and I'm pretty sure it's pulling the Spanish prices which are much lower than T Chinese.
