- About this track:
The opening song on the upcoming album RISE ABOVE.
Musical influence:
Starting with a bang: "In a Dream" is probably our heaviest song. It only seems appropriate to open the album with an aggressive drop-D number... That's what all the kids are doing!
Sometimes when I listen to a band like Volbeat or Mammoth, I hear a super-catchy yet simple, heavy yet danceable riff and think Joe-Dirt thoughts, like "daaaaaang, why didn't I write that!?" …Instead, I wrote this one.
Most fun part to play: The harmonics in the second and third verses. What I really wish it had: Strings to match the little wah-wah riff at the end of the interlude.
Enjoy the heavy!

Lyrical inspiration:
"In a Dream" is widely open to interpretation, but a lot of what it means to me is a personal transition from the distractions of the world and getting bogged down by everyday life to finally being able to open your eyes and see the wonders of what the world has to offer. We often get held down or held back just trying to get by and lose sight of the great things we can do for others to help shape the life we want to live.
We start off confused and unable to find our way, even begging or praying for guidance and direction. Life's moving too fast, struggling just to stay afloat. Take a step back, lose yourself to find your true self. Break free from the weight of the world and set yourself free!
