Thrills was invented by Canadians because we swear a lot, gets us used to the taste so it doesn't bother us so much when Grandma washes our mouths out for swearing too much...
@@jeffmac9642 i mean the video is snacks meaning chips and that, poutine is not really a snack more of a side. As well as most of these are Canadian snacks that you can get in the US as Midlan Ontario is only a few hours from the US... as well as all the ketchup snacks and maple snacks are all Canadian.
But completely understandable that someone from outside of Canada would not realize that packaging is required to be printed in both official languages! Another uniquely Canadian thing. Vive la difference! ❤🇨🇦❤
I mean, English derives from French. lol Considering people in England spoke French more than a few thousands of years ago, before inventing the English language. xD It's not far off from correct.
Spicy snacks are super popular in Toronto due to our very diverse population. That being said, ketchup flavoured chips are king here. We also don't really eat that maple flavoured stuff lol... It's for the tourists. Also... I've never seen that soap gum in my life lol.
Maple is a lot more popular among locals in Eastern Ontario and Southwestern Quebec, where it’s produced. I had maple oolong tea today and burned a maple candle. Yesterday I had maple syrup from a local farm on my oatmeal.
I mean, maple is always going to be a Canadian staple and that’s not just for the tourists haha REAL maple syrup on pancake/waffle type foods can’t be beat. And Thrills is originally from London, Ontario so it’s a little piece of Ontario history that you should try sometime :) I can’t promise you’ll like it at first, or even ever, but it does kind of grow on you

Thrills is actually rose water flavoured but it tastes like soap. I remember the packaging being in a more paper bag type of deal in the early 2000s and when they made this newer packaging in the 2010s I think they decided to make fun of their own product and that alone makes it charming. And it’s weirdly addicting? Like you know it tastes like soap but you still go for more. So weird
omg we've gotta send them some of those maple cream cookies! they're so good - a layer of maple flavoured cream sandwiched between 2 lightly maple sugar cookies 😭😭
Hehehe, The "patates sauce" is just the name in french :) As for the Thrills gum- my mom and I love it! It's actually rosewater flavored which is one of my favorite things. Very floral. In the 50's and 60's flavors like "violet" and "teaberry" were becoming more popular in candies so it explains the popularity of this little gum originally from London, Ontario :)
And to those that arnt used to rosewater if the flavoring is to strong it will tast a bit like soap with rose water you dont need allot to have enough of the flavour
I never thought about that, but it does have some characteristics of maple now that you mention it. Not the sweet part, but the little savory notes it has.
I love it when you say “hi kids”! I’m 43 and I watch all your videos and you make me feel like a kid. P.S. Grandma is the best thing on RUclips! Love you Grandma!

In Canada we have two official languages, English and French. Due to this fact, all of our labeling has both English and French on it. So you will see the English word on top and right underneath the French translation. Candy/Pastilles 🙂 Your channel brings me great joy...love to you and Grandma Ok. Korea needs to claim your grandma as a national treasure. ❤️❤️❤️
I’ve always loved soap gum! As a kid, I’d always beg my parents for some when I saw it at the corner store. It’s actually one of those things that a lot of people don’t like; like black jelly beans or root beer. Those who like it really like it and those who don’t, really hate it.
All Dressed and Ketchup are super popular in Canada, and don't exist in many (any?) other places. I'm Canadian, and I don't really like either. But ANY potluck, any BBQ, any casual get together, any time you're invited to watch a game, watch a movie, anything, there is ALWAYS All Dressed chips involved. That flavour might even be more popular than Original, here. 😳 I like Hickory Sticks, though! You should try Nanaimo Bars! The original flavour (custard), especially. Also, the various coffee-flavoured ones. But original is my favourite! It's a base with some kind of gooey chocolate-flavoured mix, usually with coconut or oats or something with a little bit of extra texture, then a really condensed, icing-consistency custard mix (or coffee or mint), and then a layer of chocolate, on top. Super rich, super sweet, but so yummy (in very small portions 😅). Maple syrup is heavenly. We even cook our bacon & sausages in maple. 😍 And a lot of school kids end up taking a field trip to go make maple syrup candy in the snow, sometime. 😊 Super yum!
You guys have a great selection of Canadian treats since I'm Canadian and have at least tried these once or multiple in one sitting, haha. Great video. 😊

These are all such good snacks!! Ketchup chips are my favorite! I'm glad that you and Grandma Ok enjoyed them!! Also I think Thrills are more from Western Canada because I love them but it seems from the comments a lot of other canadians don't know what they are
We have those dill pickle Kettle chips here, they're fantastic. My best friend makes his own maple syrup too, it's unlike any other kind I've ever had, it's magic. It's more like a soft vanilla flavor than the cloying maple flavor that maple "flavored" things have.
Thrills is actually made to taste like Rose Water. But, if you put too many rose petals in the water while you are steeping it, it starts to taste like soap. So back in the day when it was first created, in the 1920s, many other companies were also making floral flavoured gum, and O-Pee-Chee (the company that invented it) went too far and made this gum, and people liked it, lol. It's more of a novelty than anything, I don't imagine many people use it regularly.
The fact that you use the X files theme music really gets me 😂😂😂 im just now watching it for the first time in my life and its waaay darker and scarier than pop culture made it out to be haha.
I’m Canadian and I love this. We have so many brands of ketchup chips here and a lot of maple flavoured treats for the tourists (I’m sure you’ll both enjoy). The only regrettable thing is that chocolate would probably melt or be destroyed in shipping but we have these delicious things called coffee crisps (wafer with chocolate, tastes sweet and has a coffee undertone). Maybe you can come visit after the pandemic and try it 👉👈
I'm Canadian and I don't know why we have gum that tastes like soap, either.
I am Canadian too and didn't even know that existed.
I honestly love it so much it's a childhood thing
