Not having a guest book. Definitely having my favourite flavour of cake, because they might not eat it but then I can take it home ❤

I’m most excited about cake, also even added a dessert bar. I want to eat all the sweets. 🤣🤣🤣

As a cakedesigner I must disagree on the cake 😜 but I do agree that the cake should never be served later then dessert. Anything past that moment is just a waste, cause people want to party and not have sweet stuff anymore
Great videos, thanks for the tips❤

We had a cheese wedding "cake". Different cheeses, spreads, jams and dried fruit. All stacked like a cake. We cut the "cake" right after the ceremony and people could start eating while we took pics in-between. We just served a normal dessert after the meal. People seem to like that.

i work at weddings too and there was even one bride who asked me to make an announcement about the guest book because she was worried that only one person had written in it all day! i'm still going to get a guest book, but not spend more than £5/6 on it. x

I decided to skip guest book thibking it's useless. Then on mybwedding video I notice a scene of my dad getting people to sign a loose leaf paper something where a guestbook should have been. It was so embarrassing, glad I found out after the wedding. I purposely skipped guestbook because it seem useless & didn't realize my dad cared about it to pull out DIY last min

I absolutely love cake and still remember a wedding years ago where we were having so much fun dancing, they took away the cake slices before we had a chance to try it!! I'll never forget it-RIP wedding cake I never got to try

Fun to watch your videos cuz we're planning our wedding right now! I don't agree about the cake though. I've been to weddings and almost every time been disappointed in the cake... I was waiting for a rich and tasty cake but we got boring and mousse cakes which doesn't give the feeling of eating a dessert. But I'm a cake lover so, it might not apply to everyone.

I was born in 1973 in Seattle. Male. Meaning, I'm 50 in 2023. In November 2023, I'm going to my niece's wedding reception in Phoenix. Being Japanese-American, I can pass for 37-38. The pros: I've lost 20 pounds in the past year (dieting better, cutting out soda pop), and since 2007 I've built up my ARM muscles (my favorite physical part of myself). Plus, I still have mostly black hair. My niece is 30, and her husband is about the same. Meaning, there COULD be some women in the 33-38 range, who are single, and are Bandido Desperado (beyond desperate), that they might settle for a man like me. Women in that age, who aren't married, and have no children yet, I figure that being at a wedding is going to REALLY make them long for finding a husband. Honestly, I don't expect anything to happen for me at this wedding. But, it's an opportunity, and just in case, I don't want to miss out on possibilities.

The guestbook is 100% happening....lots of people coming and wont get time to sit and talk to everyone. We will be having video messages and the guest book (with treats) so that we get everyone. If they don't want to leave a message that is fine but I want to at least give them the option.

We are getting married next year, and we can't remember ever receiving a free reception drink. Do we have to give these? They seem to work out really expensive.

    • @BluebirdBrideAcademy

Over in the UK, it is the done thing to provide drinks between the ceremony and the wedding breakfast. It is usually between 2-3 drinks per guest. But sometimes there is a paid bar open as well if guests want to have something different than what is on offer (typically prosecco, pimms and a soft drink option). However there are no set rules, it is your wedding. It may also be different where you are based, if you aren't based in the UK?

What is the Cake doing in this list? After the ceremony and the bride's dress, isn't the cake the Third Most Amazing Thing on a Wedding? Well, to me it is. And if someone doesn't want his piece, I'll comfort it in my belly for him. A wedding without a cake? Could as well leave the groom out for me, but not the cake!

Not really... Some people really don't care. I went to a wedding recently and no one at the end of the night commented on not having a taste of the cake. I didn't have a taste of the cake but I had eaten enough during the wedding breakfast and grazed the evening food.

I have been to weddings that did not have cake at all. and the last two weddings I was at, I didnt eat any cake and missed the cutting ..

I agree. A wedding with a tasteless and boring cake or not even a cake at all would be a disappointment. My fiancé prefers savory over sweet but still finds the wedding cake to be important on our wedding, and I'm happy for that cause I have a sweet tooth and not for any sweets but for quality dessert. To me, good food wouldn't be satisfying enough.
